I guess it was about a year ago, but there was a game called Crusades in early development that had a lot of the same vision. Seamless planetary transitions, procedural engine, endless universe, sandbox play style, etc. It was being developed by Visual FX studios, which now appears to be defunct.

Is there any relationship between Infinity and those folks? They seemed to pack up pretty quickly after generating a bit of interest. Maybe they had a problem with investors. Or, did some of those guys team up with the Infinity guys on this project?

Maybe its just that there are a few of these games trying to make use of the procedural engine/game philosophy.

Can anyone confirm this?

 

Edit: confirmed that there is no relationship between the two projects from the main dev on the Infinity forums.  Case closed!
