Would be very nice if you could at least have a toon that could walk around your own ship. Also have the view scrollable from far outside your own ship all the way to 1st person view looking out your front windshield over looking the controls and panels of blinking lights.

Then you could have it so that you can choose to leave your seat and maybe then instance your ship interior. Just a thought. Would be fun to be able to walk around the ship fixing things and stuff.

ya this game has the potential to be huge with all the features that it has. the only problem is that there are some things which just HAVE to be in the game IMO.  one of these is being able to get out and walk around because this game is going to have ultimate exploring and what is the use if you cant get out of your ship.

the arguement against that is that they are a small development team

the awnser would be to make pitches with larger publishers and to hire more programmers (there is currently one 1)

Hello all,

While I understand your views on getting out of the ship, we have to look at what's involved.  It would essentially be a second game, as the raytracing and physics would vary greatly from interstellar combat.  The addition of adding bezier patches and bumpmapping would up the system requirements as well.  Likewise, thrust and decelleration would be nixed completely.

Eve itself has been around for quite a number of years, and they just recently started thinking of making a out-of-ship version of the game.  I also don't see how it will be very useful, as player mode offers only so much.

While I can understand the eye-candy aspect, it isn't really worth making an entire second game before they even release the first one.  This game is already pushing the envelope of the video game industry with their gaseous clouds and atmospheric entry, why go beyond that?

Personally, I am hyped about this game.  I used to play Eve, but got out of it relatively quickly due to their speech restrictions and encouraging of macro-mining, and this is just endorsed if you're familiar with the current game environment.  I hope they make strong restrictions to piracy, but still allowing it for the thinking player.  I am kind of concerned about their mining system (as everything is based on user skill, will we have to play a mini-game to mine successfully?).

Walking around inside/outside my ship isn't all that important to me. I know other gamers really want that option, but I feel that it would detract from the main theme of the game.

Just the ability to make a own character and walk into a "cantina" in a big space station would add alot to the community.

Nothing fancy, just sit and listen to music, trade, talk  and getting to know eachother. since there is no skills or anything,  contacts will be really important.... Just to stare at a spaceship every time you are talking to someone is weird

So its not only eyecandy

anybody remember Earth and Beyound Online? I still have the beta Tee in my closet :P

anyway, as much as it was cool to be able to have an avatar and walk inside spacestations that didn't make the game any more appealin' to the mass it seems.. even after considerin' the fact that it was released well before EvE... E&B only lasted mere 2 years before servers were closed down :/

IMO, a ship avatar is more then good enough given the scale of Infinity..

Space toons is fine, as long at its done 5 years after the game is released, like eve online. cause they decided its time to attract thsoe 5% of players who love to dress up.

frankly i think the devalopment time VS how many people want toons in the game, will simply not add up in favour. I rather have space moneys.
