MrTumN3s writes: w/o the lighting, Graphx would be worse then WoW..Beautiful lighting tho for bad graphix. Fri Sep 07 2007 6:56PM
KnightHawk63 writes: This is Pre-Alpha footage bud, this is far from final graphics. Fri Sep 07 2007 7:20PM
Spriggan05 writes: Yep this is just a test for there lighting engine, only thing i dont like is that the casted shadows from the world look almost painted. (They might even be) Fri Sep 07 2007 9:33PM
LouiseK writes: Pretty impressive :) Sat Sep 08 2007 6:34AM
erandur writes: right... not impressive tbh.. the flames of a torches move, but the shadows don't... let's hope they don't forget to adjust that ;), and the game is almost in beta and the gfx barely changed yet, don't expect big differences in the final release Sat Sep 08 2007 9:10AM
neosurfeur writes: seriously disapointing Sat Sep 08 2007 10:18AM
SpiritofGame writes: ~ Nice views. The game is coming to life. ~ As noted by the Devs, this is only the beginning of the lighting process. More "mood and ambient" lighting is yet to be added. Sat Sep 08 2007 11:34AM
kevmachine writes: Not bad, pretty good lighting so far. Honestly I was expecting mabey a bit more, but it's a start. Sat Sep 08 2007 11:58AM
maddbomber83 writes: No HDR yet. Hope they get that into game to help beaf up that lighting. Dynamic shadows for torches would be a smooth touch as well. Sat Sep 08 2007 1:45PM
Archin writes: This is looking great, as you can see the orcs arnt receiving anything but static lighting atm, dynamic lighting hasnt been added yet (in that footage anyway) but when PC's take on dynamic lighting (as in the login screen movie) its gona look so sweet! Sat Sep 08 2007 3:29PM
Tmacattack writes: Well I bought my 8800... to avoid games like this. Sat Sep 08 2007 3:47PM
Cylob writes: nothing revolutionary here: EQ2 still looks better and is 3 years old now, same goes for LotR: looks way better... not final yet, so things might change. Sat Sep 08 2007 5:08PM
Lightleaf writes: erandur, you should read over your comment. "the game is almost in -BETA-..." It's not released and beta stage doesn't really mean anything, it just means they are allowing more useless, unhelpful critics like yourself into the game instead of dedicated testers who feedback on everything. Sat Sep 08 2007 5:45PM
Zaktharan writes: Hmm... Looks nice. I can't understand you, lads. What arr ya waiting fer in MMORPG? Cutest graphical effects? Go and see it in single-player modern RPG's. I just want to play in WAR and walk Altdorf freely. See ya there, lads.=) Sat Sep 08 2007 6:31PM
Fion writes: Hmm yes impressive. Light maps.. a technology in games since Quake. Hardly new to MMOGs even, though it is used nicely in some places it basically just comes down to a 'glow' with fire. I'm not impressed in the least. And why do all these videos say 'pre-alpha footage' when they are brand new, (this was from Leipzig GC 2007,) and beta has been going on for months now. Work in progress, of course. But it's hardly pre-alpha. Sat Sep 08 2007 11:20PM
Fion writes: I should have trusted my gut when I saw that 'login screen' video. Everything about it screamed 'prerender' to me. With this lighting system being little more then lightmaps, and fully static, then yea, that video was a full blown prerender. I should have known. Sat Sep 08 2007 11:22PM
bohemian5 writes: it makes it a little more appealing Sun Sep 09 2007 12:55AM
jabbuk writes: It says on the video pre-alpha. What you expect? Graphics look good for a pre-alpha to me. And even polished game graphics never look as good in a video or even in alot of SS's. Sun Sep 09 2007 11:41AM
Fion writes: But it's not pre-alpha, it's brand spanking new, as in released just 2 weeks ago. They 'just' began to show their lighting engine and this was the first video released with it. When a game is in beta, anything new is also beta. They are just covering their asses Sun Sep 09 2007 7:18PM
