1.3.4 Details Revealed!

Community Coordinator Andy Belford spills the beans on the upcoming 1.3.4 patch for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. Patch 1.3.4 is set to hit PTS sometime in early February, and will include an entirely new line of weaponry purchased through a new currency earned solely through Scenarios, significant changes to Campaign gameplay, and a streamlining (including removal) of scenario offerings.

Update 1.3.3 "Retribution" Now Live!

Game Update 1.3.3 "Retribution" has been deployed to live servers! Highlights of the update include a new Underdog system, which has been implemented to allow for the losing side of the Tier 4 campaign to mount a comeback; new graphical upgrades in the form of HDR (High Dynamic Range) & Bloom lighting; and the WAR Report, a convenient window which gives a snapshot of all the campaign activity on the server and allows for players to instantly teleport to the action.

More Free Transfers

Two formerly hugely popular servers will soon be added to the list of merged servers, as free transfers will be offered for both the Phoenix Throne and Dark Crag servers beginning December 2nd.

Producer's Letter Assuages WAR Fears

Major Layoffs at Mythic

According to a report over at Gamasutra, Mythic Entertainment, the developers of Warhammer Online have taken a major hit in EA's latest round of layoffs. A number of presumably now former Mythic employees' tweets are cited in the report, with one Katherine Pitta stating that as many as 80 employees or 40% of the Mythic Entertainment workforce was hit in today's layoffs.

Endless Trial Now Live!

A recent post to the WAR Herald reveals that the Warhammer Online Endless Trial, which allows for players to play through Tier 1 for free, is now live! The launch of the new trial will automatically convert all current 10 Day trial users over to the new system, and also sees the introduction of a new streaming trial client. Similar to the World of Warcraft trial download, players will only have to download a 1GB client with the rest of the data being streamed in as it's needed.

Nate Levy Explains Major AP Bug Fix

AP regen rates were altered significantly with the launch of Patch 1.3.1 due to a complex bug, which resulted in players essentially having infinite AP. In the recently released Patch 1.3.2, the bug has been fixed and AP rates have returned to normal levels, but with players so used to being able to just spam their attacks, there have been some concerns in the community over the issue and WAR's Combat & Careers Team Lead Nate Levy addresses them in this latest dev diary.

The Mac version of Warhammer Online is now available! For existing subscribers of WAR, the Mac version is available free of charge. New players will be able to purchase the Mac client at Gametreeonlnie.com for $19.95 and will include a free 30 days of game time.

Armor Set Redesigns Part 2

The next batch of armor redesign comparison shots have been released. For this set, we get a look at the newly designed armor sets for the following classes: Shaman, Marauder, Chosen, Witch Elf, Archmage, White Lion, Witch Hunter, and Knight of the Blazing Sun. The images show a comparison of the armor progression for these classes from Sentinel to Invader armor sets.

Apprentices & New User Journey in 1.3.2

Version 1.3.2 of Warhammer Online is on the PTS right now and includes a number of major changes to the game. The most notable of these changes are the New User Journey and Apprentice System. The former being a total overhaul of the experience new players have with the game, while the latter allows for a City of Heroes-style sidekicking function called the "Apprenticeship" system.

Mac Version Release Date Announced

EA has announced today the release date for the Mac client of Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. WAR will be arriving on Mac's on October 28th, 2009. The Mac version will be available to new subscribers by digital download at Gametreeonline, and will include 30 days of game time. The client will be priced at $19.99. Current subscribers of the game will be able to access the Mac version free of charge.
