I checked the official website and notice that the news hadn't been updated in some time. Has EA pulled support for the game and are just keeping the servers running? |

Originally posted by Effect There is still support. The game is just basically on it's death bed. Patch 1.4 broke so many things because it wasn't tested when it dropped. Then after they hotfixed that stuff, people realised that it didn't stop the AFKers like it was supposed to, and more so punished anyone who goes AFK after 2 minutes (bathroom, food, drink, phone, etc). People have been pouring into the forums since day 1 giving ideas and suggestions, but Mythic seems to do the opposite, or nothing. Skaven, for example. Everyone wanted them as a playable race, instead we got a useless, bastardized version of LotRO's monster play.
I've also heard that there's only 3 people working on WAR full time now. I know some devs were busy helping work on the PvP for The Old Republic, but I'm not sure how long that was supposed to take.
I think an expansion would help this game tremedously. But I doubt it will happen. MAYBE after The Old Republic comes out, Bioware could help the Mythic team, but I highly doubt it. Hell didn't Conan and Star Trek Online get expansions, and didn't those games come damn near to being flops? |

Thanks for the update. A shame. I like the Warhammer universe so I was looking forward to the game but the way PvE was setup just couldn't make me stay with the game. I liked different parts but not when put together. So I kept hoping things would improve as it looked like it could if they changed and addressed aspects and tried to "relaunch" it. Which is why I keep checking the site every now and then. Conan and STO I don't believe were ever close to being flops. They had huge populations at their launch do to their IPs. So the drop off after the first months were significant but I think they stabilized. Still not huge but not near canceling. I haven't played AoC in a long time but I played STO two months ago and things seem fine from what I recall. Especially since they are adding new content/storylines. Funcom's Age of Conan had an expansion but Cryptic is modeling itself after Turbine. Star Trek Online has been getting story and content updates each month the way Asheron's Call did and does. At least that's how it seems. |

Originally posted by Effect I was not aware of all that. Thanks for the nfo. I might just give STO a try now.
I checked the official forums, and Andy Belford (Community manager) has been out for a week or so now. Supposedly he's on sick leave. I think everyone's issue with that is, it doesn't take any effort to make a post on the forums to say, "Hey, won't be here to update you guys for x amount of time." I also know that when people are about to quit/be fired/layed off they take their sick leave and vacation time sometimes. So perhaps more layoffs? |

Pretty much what zolgar said. ¿My prediction? After rift´s release in march life support will be totally cut off. I know for sure a lot of war players will go to rift. Been reading forums and never seen so much frustation in my life. Take this for an example: Question: When they will fix last patch ? Another guy responds: Next beta (fifth) starts tuesday and lasts until friday Nuff said |

3 devs? Stop spreading rumors and misinformation please.
This game has gotten better and better. Aside from a bit of an AFK issue(not had any problems myself) the game is much better for the 1.4 update. I have been here off and on since beta, I have 2 CE accounts and 1 regular account.
This game has plenty of support and updates planned. You forget that this game is not just in the US/NA and the UK/EU, but worldwide. Patches were tested both internally and via the test server, the only person to blame for a change you do not like is yourself for not going on the test server and giving proper, thoughtful feedback.
This game is more then alive and is not going anywhere all this doom and gloom needs to end. I have heard it and was subjected to saying it a couple of times and all have been proven incorrect. This game has more then enough subs worldwide to stay open for a very long time. After all is DAoC still running? Yep, it is, is Ultima Online still going? Yepper, sure the hell is. Most if not nearly all major, and minor bugs at release have been fixed, the changes they have made have been a direct result of player feedback and internal think tanks.Just because some changes were not made that yourself or some other might have made mention of does not in no way mean they are not listening, it simply means those changes requested are unnecessary, planned in future updates, or are being thought out. Furthermore some changes requested should just never, ever be done regardless how many people want it. In closing think about what you are saying, research the game, the company, the industry and everything around it. MMOs are the largest, hardest games to develop, manage and operate. Not to mention balance. Every change, event he smallest, takes time and thought to make sure its correct, and done right for it to be good with the rest of the game. As for Rift? Not a chance in hell will real WAR fans leave for it. That game is centered around PvE, with a side of crappy PvP. Warhammer Online was, and is built for PvP/RvR, and no one in their right minds will leave and stick with Rift if they love the PvP/RvR of WAR. The same things being said about Rift, was said about Aion remember? Doubt it hype, no go. |

Originally posted by spyder2k5 Patch 1.4 was last nail in the coffin for a lot of players. There are still major bugs. "Playable skavens" its a joke. With the exception of badlands servers, rest of the servers are empty in t1-t2-t3. THEY NEVER LISTENED TO THEIR PLAYER BASE, NEVER. Took a year to nerf bw and sorcs. Maybe players who had sw had never been considered players after all. Daoc has ONE server left, low pop. If you dont beleive a lot of former players are going to rift, you are delusional. After rift swtor-tera-gw2 will come so game is doomed. Last hope for this game is to go on f2p. A game that had 800k players and now less probably than 60k (next months will be MUCH worse) Etc... |

Is that why more and more people are leaving every month? I mean, just look at Badlans population between September 2010, and now. Updates planned? Funny how the last PRoducers letter was in early november. I'm sure there will be another though. It will talk about how great 1.4 was, regardless of all the problems reported in the bug forums, and that they are working on stuff for the upcoming months, but won't say a word, but will promise it will be great.

Btw aion´s fail was due to excessive grind. Too asian. Rift is no grindy at all. Is a western mmo. In aion pvp is only at level 25 (lot of hours playing till that) there are no bgs as far as I know. Think rift´s pvp is at level 10.......... |

Who did wrong? The advertiser hired to sell the game or the consumer who put faith in advertising? |

The failure of this game was only surpassed in 2010, but I think that, as far as I know EA, after SW:TOR they will pull the trigger, firstly because they will not keep supporting a dead game, and secondly, they might bait some people from WAR when doing it...
But the whole mythic is bursted, DAoC is a great game but is getting way too outdated, and without a new mmo nor a good name on the market they are pretty much screwed...
I know I would not want to be a mythic employee in these dark days... "Some of the less objective people tend to be close-minded though and basically disregard any possible shortcomings that gw2 could have." |

Originally posted by Zolgar As soon as 1.4 came out. Two days later I unsubbed, I never experienced such a huge change in a game from being fun to absolutely boring in one patch. Following (to kill or protect) an NPC resource carrier?!?! ya that's fun. |

Originally posted by Zolgar Try DCUO. It's really fun and definitely can hold you over for a month at least. Don't do STO it's just horrible. As for Warhammer, I just quit partly due to the total abscence of support or any word from the Devs in going on 3 months now. No developer's letter for months, no word on what's to come, no anything from anybody. The producer of Warhammer plays WoW and tweets about it. That should say a lot. The main forums are now a joke because it has become clear over the past 2 months that absolutely nobody at Mythic or Bioware gives a crap about this game anymore. They're all clearly working on SWTOR. Anyone that joins Warhammer is joining a dying game. |
