I love all the Warhammer Novels and its universe that started way back in the 1980's as a table top game. I love Warhammer Online...BUT....the developers, producer, and publisher are hurting the game. Lets review: 1) WoW has a system to boot AFK'rs, WAR does not. We are now at the point where 75% of "Order" players on the Badlands Server stand around the Warcamp leeching Renown Points off the poor souls actually fighting Destruction and getting pwned because Destro outnumbers order in both quantity and Renown Levels. 2) WARs website is horrible. The news section has not been updated since September and the forums are part of EA Biowares website and horrible. 3) Marketing is terrible and new RvR packs are horrible. Alot of people bought the new RvR packs...yet, you no longer see anyone with the pets that came with it, cuz its meaningless. You can buy one Rank level, which is controversial ,i.e. buy your levels...and the supposed accelerated Renown is not accelerated unless you consider a snail being faster than flowing ketchup. 4) Skaven Horde is a joke. Seriously...a few rats spawning in the mist of your RvR? What a waste of programming time. And the Skaven cannot be created like your other characters...you pass thru a portal and change into one. A playable race you can level would have been better. 5) Loot bags are gone! After working hard to take a keep for a few hours you get no loot! 6) Eternal City SC is a nightmare for Order on Badlands. Order will win once out of 25 tries....it gets old losing 500 points to 0-50. WHY OH WHY could Warhammer Online have been developed by anyone other than "Mythic"? I do give them credit for TRYING...and yes I played tons of hours and enjoyed myself the past 2 weeks, but its OLD now. 7) BE CAREFUL WHAT SERVER YOU ROLL ON Check and see what servers are balanced or dominated by Order or Destro/ If you end up on the side thats being dominated, for example Order on Badlands you will be faced with being outnumbered by Destro 4-1 and most of them are Renown 80. Fear the Alien, the Psyker, the Heretic, the moronic Steam Moderator. |

1) If you know it, Mythic does too. Just in case, though, make sure you complain to them about it. I would make the passive Renown/Inf/Exp stream only apply in the vicinity of BOs and Keeps, personally. Then, at least, they would be on the battlefield and could be farmed if they were stupid enough to go AFK. 2) The Herald? WHAT IS THAT!?!?!? 3) Sure, I do not see anyone with the vanity pets. They disappear every time you sneeze, after all. But I sure see a lot of people with the new dyes, Renown Ranks past 80, and even one guy with some of the new gear (not the RR100, of course). Whoops! 4) It is a joke until you play one and find out they are fun. That being said, I think Mythic should lower the RR requirement to perhaps 55 in order to make it more accessible. The problem is far too many people thought Skaven would be a third realm. 5) Bug. Derp. 6) So you play Order on Badlands, eh? Why do you not organize premades? Stand a bit of a chance, instead of queueing for PUGs and complaining that you are getting steamrolled. 7) The only valid point you have made in this entire rant. Unfortunately, when not viewed through your over-emotional hate glasses, Badlands is pretty balanced. Certainly no worse than other servers; the only difference is Badlands is the most populated, so when there IS inbalance, it is pretty damn noticeable.

It is remarkable that WAR is certainly another great IP that was disasterously turned into an MMO. Maybe not a disaster, but one, as with many, that I had hoped could really deliver a faction v faction semi-open cooperative and competitive dynamic environment that kept the mundane, repetitive and bore-factor at a minimum. I really dont think that most of those, other than the lack of reward for game-play accomplishment come close to the reason of "never was". |

Originally posted by UnleadedRev Badlands is the best server by far having the biggest population (by far, it's 2k r40 players max online average compared to like 400 on other servers). If the problem is Order getting outnumbered (which I see happening about as often as Destro getting outnumbered), then you should encourage people to join your server. Destro may have a slight edge most of the time (besides est mornings), but it's not anything like you describe, and according to http://pauser.com/warhammer/popmon/badlands.html it amounts to an average of destro having 2-40 more r40 people online on average. Obviously not insurmountable when you're talking about a population of 2,000. Anyway, I've been back playing for a good month and a half and am still having a total blast. There's some kinks in the patch but it's still fun. |

WAR is just another more-of-an-MMO-less-of-a-game game. Played it for 6 months and loved it, probably because I knew nothing about the Warhammer universe. |

As badly as I wanted Mythic to pull out in the end and stabilize the game and start turning it into the game it was supposed to be, as soon as I saw that they were selling WAR tracts I gave up. I realized WAR was on it's last few death throes and EA was going to strangle what was left of the gullible fanbase.
So I can see one of the two things happening to this in the future; It does stabilize but becomes an Asian style F2P, complete with cash shop/item mall, cosmetics, "eccentric" mounts, and new races that go against every grain of Warhammer lore (yes, i know the Warhammer: Age of Reckoning universe is separate from Games Workshop). Or it dies out within the next year after the reaper that is EA has finished sucking the life out of it.

Originally posted by Bakkoda24 Some kid paying 20 bucks so he doesn't have to spend an hour on champ rats isn't going to kill the game. Depends on if the ball rolls down the slippery slope or not. As it stands now, 1 regular xp level is borderline fluff. However, with Mythic staff working on the Star Wars game, it doesn't appear to me the game will last more than another couple years. PVP in Star Wars should be pretty cool though :) I say play the game while it's good, and it's currently good on Badlands server. Best MMORPG for replayability running IMO. |

Originally posted by Bakkoda24 What would stop him is you can only buy one. I understand what you're saying, I'm just saying 1 isn't all that bad. If they expand it to 40 then there will be a problem, and especially if they start selling RR levels. That would be the ball rolling down the slippery slope into oblivion. RIght now I see it perched on top in a somewhat precarious but not disasterous position. |

And another point specific to war .. who cares even if someone could just buy there way to lvl 40 , it would do them no good at all as they would have 0 rvr experience ,, Would actually be funny to hear this person QQ when they step onto a T4 lake with no exp in Lakes at all .. and no gear to even give them the remotest bit of survivability ... |

My problem is more that it isn't Warhammer at all. They could have based the game on Warhammer fantasy battles or on Warhammer fantasy RPG but they did neither. Instead they took EQ/Wow and put on a little of the Warhammer lore on it, but just the kid friendly parts. Nothing of the dark stuff of course. It is not a bad game even if it has it problems, but it sure isn't Warhammer. Mythic should have made it into DaoC 2 instead and left the Warhammer IP to someone that actually like and play some Warhammer games. It is clear that no one at Mythic ever played more than possibly a little Blood bowl. From a MMO point is my problem with WAR that it's endgame isn't good enough and that it should have had 3 realms instead of 2. But as a Warhammer fan I just get upset on the game anyways. A Warhammer MMO should be made by and far Warhammer fans, and this game just isn't that. |
