I recently returned after being gone since around release and I'm having a lot of fun.
I can't really remember why I left, but I think it had something to do with WotLK releasing around the same time. Maybe a bad time to return again with Cataclysm around the corner but I think I will probably keep playing WAR too, I'm kinda burnt out on WoW no matter what new things they add.
If you subscribed in the past, you can come back for free for 14 days. If you're new, you can start a trial account and upgrade for only $15, you don't even have to pay the box price.
I'd recommend this game for anyone looking for something to play. Take that for what you will, just suggesting it. |

The 1.4 patch and the 2 new xpacs are great fun. Lots of fighting everywhere. The rvr campaign needs to be throttled back some as its a little too fast, but with fortresses in the works to be reintroduced, that should slow things down to a better pace. If you are interested in returning, now is an awesome time, and if you are interested in starting, we'd love to have you. Warhammer fanatic since '85. |

I'd seriously recommend waiting a month until the pops normalize(post patch hype atm), people get used to running the current campaign mechanics (for good or bad), and a fair number of bugs getting worked out first. (Not getting any contribution at keeps, queues not popping etc)
I think you'll have a better idea of where the game is at and where it's going then.
That said, if all you care about is the here and now, then a good hype moment is always as good a time as ever. Just don't expect that first impression to be the way the game will be in a few weeks. (again for good or bad)

I agree with Pheace, that said with a few tweaks, this new Orvr is great fun. |

I also returned after being away for a year and a half. Great timing! Warhammer Online just got a major boost. Everything has been sped up at the request of the lower players in an effort to equalize the odds. Most, soon, will have a main character in end game gear to go have fun with. I started out at renown rank 41 when I logged on a month ago. I am now renown rank 64. The way the game is set up now, you will have your gear before you get to the renown rank required to use it. Look, if you are level 32 the game will not be fun for awhile unless you run with higher renown rank people. If you are around 40RR, join order on Volkmar and have a blast. Forget what you remembered WAR to be like. This game is blowing up. There's tons of new people. It is just a fun time. I'm enjoying this more than I did LOTRO at its peak. I won't leave it for any 2010 or 2011 MMO. There's no reason to. This is a play however much you want to, small grind, fast action MMO. |
