I really liked this game, but it was unplayable for me for a few reasons. If they've fixed these problems I may try it again

-Horrible memory leaks

-Random shutdowns at loading screens

-The number one problem, I always wanted to do pq's and stuff in pve but the landscape was always dead, people would always just do battlegrounds or whatever they were called. It made the game unplayable. Have they fixed the population problem? Why they made so many servers at launch is still beyond me

-Horribly planned out cities, finding stuff for crafting was retarded

-not so much a problem: is it possible to level completely by doing pvp combat in the real world and not in instanced situations, I want to do just play pvp all day and not have to go to the crappy instanced things

I have an old account I might reactivate if it's worth it, can I get a trial on that old account or do I have to make a new account for that?

This wasn't all my good friend!

People too spread out, PVP sieges were nothing more than playing muysical keeps with lag, Public quest with no one around to help you, yellow brick road feel to the game, PVE sucked butt zits....

I need to stop im getting pissed...AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH ( runs with plunger in hand)

Pretty sure they fixed this.

-Random shutdowns at loading screens

Again, alot of the crashing issues people were having seem to be fixed.

Depends largely on your playtime, but if you play largely at American peak times you should be ok. Extra incentives have been added to ORvR, and as a consequence it's far more popular than it was at launch.

However if you do not play at American peak times you'll find finding things to do a real challenge.

-Horribly planned out cities, finding stuff for crafting was retarded

The cities weren't changed significantly afaik.

-not so much a problem: is it possible to level completely by doing pvp combat in the real world and not in instanced situations, I want to do just play pvp all day and not have to go to the crappy instanced things

It's possible to level without scenarios. As I said the incentives for doing ORvR have been significantly increased and it's much more popular than it was at launch.

You can get 10 days free with the reenlistment offer. Worth doing to try out the game especially for you to check out if they've fixed the crashing/memory leaks you were having. The game has plenty of other issues of course which have been discussed on this forum ad nauseum.

I really liked WAR and the only problem i had with it was the lag during sieges.

Has anything been done about this or is it the same as it ever was?

I've had pretty good performance for awhile now but apparently the upcoming patch has massive improvements to performance.  Check out the reviews/videos below:

It does come at the cost of a graphic reduction though, like clouds etc, but then, to real gamers Gameplay > Graphics anyway :p

The game is basicly on death's door.

Almost every major guild on all remaining servers ( think their are 5 left) have moved to aion or just through in the towel.

Last count was like 700k or so sub's and that was before the aion release they are probaly at like 500k 600k top's to put it into prospective age of conana has 100k subs.

On the remaining servers  you will find a one way zergball (the RP server is just a ghost town) and most of the time it is at low/low on all servers.

Anyone rember what the magic number was that made EA pull the plug on hellgate londond? I am sure the people at mythic know it and I am sure they where told months ago this is the number you all lose your jobs at.

The forms are almost at the mortal online point where anything not pro WAR get's edited and you get a warning or baned.

I am betting that most people at games workshop are going to ask santa for the heads of mythic inc., a dark ally, a base ball bat, and no camera's or witness's. so they can play the RL warhammer on them.

On a positive note I was able to get my hands on a CE of WAR at gamestop for 30$ I put the unopend box with all my warhammer minitures and books as a reminder of what could have been but was not.

RIP WAR

To mythic empoies enjoy the unenployment line take a snickers and a coke with you you are going to be their a long time because after what you all did to WAR no one is going to hire your sorry ass's...

I'd say WAR was on it's way to it's death door before EA decided to group Mythic and BioWAre, and to give all of Mythic's projects to BioWare's executive. BioWare is an experience company in making RPGs such as Neverwinter Nights, Baldur's gate, Mass Effect and most recently, Dragon Age.

BioWare is pretty good at what they do, and it's the reason why patch 1.3.2 is that way, the first thing they wanna do is fix the freaking game. It's also why 1.3.3 is another wave of change, and also they are adding a new system that will help the faction that is losing when things go grim. I am guessing most of 1.3.X patches are going to be balancing, fixing and patching the game engine. If you remember from neverwinter nights 2, the engine was pretty  broken, and that game isn't a MMO, yet they still spent a good 2 months releasing patches to fix all the bugs for the client and the server clients, they even went as far as providing fixes to the mod engine to make sure player made mods were working the best they could.

So had BioWare never stepped in, yes WAR would be on it's way to die. One important thing to know is that while WAR failed at giving the expected content, they did bring in excellent pvp concepts and ideas, and BioWare should be able to fix most of it by February (my guess), and past that, expect new content. So if all goes well, the game should be able to pick up again.

While I agree that gameplay is more important than graphics, where did Mythic say they reduced the quality of the graphics?

They didn't reduce graphics quality. Here are some links to explain what they have done and are doing.

Right.  I was just wondering where Pheace had gotten his info, or if he had a source for saying they reduced the graphics.

Well first off OP you can play for 10 days free to decide for yourself.

I was a beta tester, quit 3 months after release for the same problems...pvp was dead.

I have now re subbed.....we are raiding altdorf all the time now, but cant quite make it....order is also getting close on inevitable city....

biggest shock to me....population on a low/low server seems HEALTHY...I know it sounds wierd but I am constantly in battles anytime, everyday....and usually it gets big and epic....they changed scenarios so that your constantly doing different ones, and its gotten quite diverse.

Who knows down the road but right now WAR is where its at.

I play all ghame

Most ever servers  I have loged onto are a zergball one way volkmar and dark craig for a fact every time I loged onto my badlands charcters order seemed to own that server or have  things changed?

i left a while ago cus i felt money wasnt really worht anything and ppl just pvped all day with no incentive to really pve and spend a little time getting armor to make some really cool templates. are things still the same or have things gotten alot better concerning economy and degrees of armor. also has crafting become more important?

I'm playing on Gorfang and we RvR all the time. So much so, in fact, that I've not even been able to stop and get a decent set of armor via PvE quests. Today, for example, I went from rank 15/renown 11 to 18/12 just doing RvR in Tier 2. Was the best time I had on the game.

Problem is, of course, that now that my renown and my rank are so disparate, I'll not be able to compete with equal level people because all the good stuff has renown close to rank.

I recently resubbed and am having fun.  All the action is on Gorfang and Iron Rock which are core servers. I played the orvr servers from launch until around june and resubbed about 2 weeks ago. The only orvr server left is dark crag and it's dead, however, i don't see much of a difference these days between the orvr and core servers so it's all good. There's still a few visual bugs but as far as crashes and lag goes, it's been improved. They removed fortresses for the time being and are redesigning the fortress sieges.  The game is only a little over a year old and people are writing it off as dead when there are a ton of lands and races to be added not to mention feature refinements.  The first year of every game sucks.  If you played early uo and eq and wow and any other lasting mmorpgs you will remember how shitty that first year was.  Mmorpgs need time to grow.

Excuse me? WoW did nothing but grow in it's first year, despite it's problems. Not sure about growth for EQ but I don't believe it had a bad year anywhere near what WAR had.

" The game is only a little over a year old and people are writing it off as dead when there are a ton of lands and races to be added not to mention feature refinements."

Also, what does this have to do with anything? All games can come up with countless lands and races off the top of their head if they want. Having a pre-existing IP is more restrictive than an addition to the game in that sense. Only benefit is already having a graphics template to copy if you should chose to use it. Monster design these days however, there's countless out there, it's hardly a problem.

Obviously you know nothing about the Warhammer IP. And yes, the first years of all of those games were desperate times. Some made good choices. Some made bad ones. But they all still exist. Warhammer has been around since the early 80's. It's not going anywhere.

i also played war when it first came out and after 3 mouths . i resubed 3 mouths ago and had a good time in T1 orvr. it was pretty dead in t2 and 3 though. i got bored at the thot of doing that games uninteresting pve and unsubed shortly after. if bioware can fix the game and get people to come back then i would be more that willing to give war another try.

BioWare isn't going to divert any resources to fixing this game. In fact - the drain has gone the other way.
