OP  8/22/08 12:30:47 PM#1

Anyone have information about the overpowered and underpowered classes?

The Bright Wizard/Sorcerer gives high damage but when you hit them once, you hear the sound of glass shattering.  So, I'm thinking its some melee types.

The War Priest and DoK are, as I see, the two most overpowered classes right now for melee. For ranged, it's the bright wizard and shadow warrior.

If only SW:TOR could be this epic...

Warriorpriest (Melee DPS/Healer) + Bright Wizard (Ranged DPS) make a deadly team. Get you best friend, girlfriend/wife to make a combo like this. Its rock.

Before people start buying into the Overpower/Underpower hype people start spitting, I counsel you all to consider and keep in mind that Mythic has the classes balanced on a REALM basis, not a personal 1v1 basis.  They have stated very clearly not every class will be balanced and able to stand against every other class.  Just because Class A kicks your ass all the time does not make them OP or you UP.

The OP thinks this is a WoW clone and does not understand RvR. There are powerful classes. I don't think there are any OVER powered classes. if a DoK tries to melee in a keep siege he's still gonna die.

From the classes I've played in Beta so far the Magus and Engineer seem to be the most underpowered.... at least in RvR anyway.  Problems seem mostly to do with the static nature of the summons which is a real problem in fast flowing fights plus turret LOS problems in defensive situations which overall cause a serious loss of DPS + the engineer needing to hug his turret for survivabilty all seem to contribute.  Some serious changes are in the works for both classes so that may help.

Not sure there is a most overpowered class at the mo...although in standoff situations the Wizzies can bring down a world of hurt.

I think  WAR test LOS using  points near the foot, so naturally, the smaller bump break LOS.  Turrets are so not usefull, that is a waste the 1.3 seconds to spawn one.

I think that depends on what aspect of the RVR you are engaging in.  When you need to defend a BattleKeep or other strategic field position, the classes with the ability to put up a positional blocker (Pet or Turret) have a strong advantage.  They also have better range than melee in such situations and those who rely on close quarter engagement are less useful beyond a certain extent.  Every class has its place in WAR.  The Engineers I have spent time with are rather happy over all, tho yes they do need some tweaks above any other clas (Engineer and Magus that is)

Any other class has its strengths and weaknesses.  If a DoK tries to melee with an actual Melee Class (IB, Chosen, SM etc) they will get owned.  If they toe to toe with a wizard or Sorc, they will tear through them... assuming they get to them through the barrage of long range DPS.  That is why this is all an RVR game, not a Solo-centric PVP structure.  In that environment, the classes would be terribly imbalanced.  they work VERY well for the environment they were designed for.  Most of the problems with people thinking a class is OP/UP comes down to the lack of skill and/or understanding on the part of the player.  not the class itself.

I love that WAR doesn't have its own official forums.

I won't have to be bothered with these stupid OP/UP posts.

Something that totally destroyed the WoW forums for me.

Thank god I don't have to deal with that stupid shit.

I can find a mature forum that has a small community that isn't a bunch of mentally challenged fanbois.

Magus, Engineer, and Squig Herder are, or were terrible. BO's are a little beefy. White Lions and Shadow Warriors are kind of middle of the road, some really good skills and some really really bad aspects as well. Everybody is fine if you ask me.

Where is the innovation?

Gosh, the game isnt out yet and people are asking about which classes are OP, which of them need a nerf, which one is better 1 on 1....seriously, wait till the game comes out at least before you start talking about things you know almost nothing about

No there are actually over powered classes, but thats part of MMORPGs. What really matters is what Mythic will do about them.

Right now destruction is actually at a disadvantage due to the ranged classes that order has from what I am seeing right now in PW. Most of the battles consist of Bright Wizards, Engineers, shadow warrios and Battle Priests taking on every other class with ease. The ranged classes have such large range that they run up throw their nukes and pull back. This usually ends up killing much of the opposing force. While Destruction is by no means in danger of "sucking hard core", but their ranged classes leave much to be desired when opposing Order.

Mythic knows this and already has patches ready for buffing the Magus and Engineer, rather changing how they play so in a sense they are equal but also so classes like the Magus are not cannon fodder to any other ranged class.

PvP is fun though, and there will be class problems. its a given.

Was doing some scenario in Khaine's on Order side, had a level 10 Disciple of Khaine take on 5 of us for a good minute or two. If that isn't overpowered I don't know what is, especially since he killed 2 of us =/

Do you really think that they're only source for this information is from fans saying what is over/under powered?
