No, I'm not an AoC fanboy, or any other at that matter. I've just spent a good amount of time playing every single MMO because of lack of end content. I've been hoping WAR to be awesome, I loved the concept art and figured it would be good to go as it had a good following. I'm not in the beta, nor have I played it but from their screenshots and the entire class builds, I'm finding less joy of playing this on my computer (Yes, real MMO'ers actually keep up with their computers, just because well they don't play consoles. :P) So when I look at my computer and knowingly find myself shuttering at the flaws in detail (Not from artistic deployment, but in actual EA scrap together and shove it out there style), I can only hope to the Gods of the MMO World that Chronicles is gonna be decent..
As for that, I have played AOC beta and seeing how I was burnt on TabulaRasa, I'll be waiting a bit before I even think on diving in... Perhaps a trial or something. |

From what I've heard (so it could be wrong) they haven't finished with the lighting and some other grpahical stuff so wait and see when it all comes together. |

Warhammer will require monthly payments, unfortunately. |

Alrighty, well I hope you guys are correct on this. I don't mind Paying for a Game, as long as it'll at least compare to EQ2/CoV-COH & WoW in playability for more than a month. :P I'll keep checking up on it, fingers crossed. Just hate to see something like War be underachieved in developing. Specially since the Artist and Creator had much envisioned for this game. |

I'm not sure what screenshots you're looking at, but the most recent screenshots from the official website are a good indication of what to expect. http://www.warhammeronline.com/screenshots/index.php Nothing to worry about here imo. |

Originally posted by jayheld90 That's what it looks like in beta right now, and in beta there's no lighting/shading or hi-res textures. At least they show us how it's progressing, but I guess it's a mistake. |

Originally posted by jayheld90 Thats an amazing opinion. Since we are discussing opinions here...I think I should share mine. Based on what I just saw (I don't actually frequent their site and have not seen those shots before THIS thread) I would say both that the graphics are quite nice, and that you are a fool. Given that I value my opinions rather highly, I think that I can afford to take the luxury of assuming mine to be more a fact than yours. Could you possibly explain what looks bad in all of that? No...its not as pretty as AoC. It will also be able to have more than 96 PvPing in one spot because of that little fact as well. I'll take "larger and more involved worlds with PvP" over "Prettier worlds broken into small pieces" any day. |

Originally posted by Gishgeron ... and to pip in... The gfx style follows the original TT very closely. If it were any more realistic I'd find it not true to the setting. It is a cartoony setting and the gfx should be "bigger than life". This obsession with "realism" in graphics is totally ignorant, imho. Look at movies ffs - the visual style has to follow the theme of the movie. Some films have garish primary color art direction, some are subdued sepia and there are even those made in black and white - not because the producers didn't have the money for color stock (lolzor) but because it has an aesthetic of its own. TF2 works perfectly with cell-shaded all-out cartoon graphics. If it were done "realistically" it would really hurt the game. |
