if you get to choose between 2 games that has the same gameplay, but one has much better graphics, which would you choose?

I play alot of old games with crappy graphics but excellent gameplay, but I would much rather play a game with excellent graphics AND exellent gameplay.

I still play wow, for the simple reason, I got nothing better.

I no longer play Wow.

Perhaps I'll go back after WotLK because I had a great time with it. But it's good to take a break after 2 years from ANY game.

I just wanted Conan to succeed. But the more I researched their game mechanics the more I had doubts and now all these doubts were confirmed.

Any suggestion for a good MMORPG (not LOTRO either) ???

I'll stay my opinion of AoC til after it gets released and I've gotten a chance to actually sit down and play it.

Different people have different opinons. And just cause one person hates it doesn't mean that I will.

I've played and enjoyed alot of games that many people hate.

I'm quite certain you don't need a bleading edge high end pc to play AoC.

And you also have the option of turning down the graphics so you can still play.

Seriously, if AoC had run with a wow cartoon style engine, I wouldn't even have considered playing aoc. I've played wow for so many years now, and I want a mmorpg with proper graphics.

And I want a MMORPG with proper clean gameplay.

I want to fight just like I did in Wow, I want to PvP just like did in DAoC and I want to feel the lore just like I had (for the first two months) with LOTRO.

Graphics don't matter when you control your avatar against other players in PvP or in dungeons.

What's the use of having a nice eyebrow if the gameplay isn't there ????

Besides EVERY game is a cartoon like copy.

It's not the number of pixels or shaders that makes games better, it's game play/.

Yes and no. as I've said, I'd much rather play a game with crappy graphics but good gameplay than the other way around. but I've been playing a game with crappy graphics and good gameplay for awhile now and I want something that has both the gameplay AND the graphics.

Lotro had the graphics, but not the gameplay I was looking for.

And if it's gameplay you want and graphics doesn't matter:

My computer is 3 years old and I can play AoC on low settings. I didn't upgrade my computer yet. It costed me $2,000 with a monitor. If you can't run AoC, you have a big rig problem. I don't think they must establish games standards over people that buy a comp each 5 years. They are not those to make money with. AoC doesn't want to make people quit WoW. They want to offer something else to gamers. WoW is for kids period (a world where a Night Elf is good and a Cow is Evil). Sorry but in my mind, a Troll is SCARY. Those in WoW look like clowns. Nvm... People don't play WoW because they can run it. They play WoW because... they play WoW. What I mean is that if a player would choice a MMO today, without past experience and friends influence, are you sure that 62% will choose WoW? Of couse NOT!!!! They play WoW because their friends play it, because it is cheap, because on it is written on the box that more people play this game then others (wich is true tough). I bought WoW twice. When it released. After 2 months, it is realy boring to be a Cow collecting flowers and fishing. I am a damm Tauren, cousin of a Minotaur and I wear a freaking robe with a branch in the hand... I sold it. 2 years later, a friend make me buy it again pretending that everybody was playing it, that it is much fun in group and that the game was improved. I bought it again... That was the same crap. No no... it is more fun when you are higher level he told me. I went on high rank. That was the same crappy thing. All this to say that I bought this game twice, played like 1 year globally. It could sound good for some1 looking for a MMO.

Anyway... If your computer is 5 years old, trash it or give it to your GF to chat with friends and play card games period. Stop seeking for last released game. I really hope Devs won't do like most people say. Create games for 5 years old computers. If so, I'd still play on my 486 DX2 66.

Wii maybe won the sprint over PS3 and XBox 360 but it is a marathon, not a sprint race.

Just read the new interview with FunCom at mmorpg.com and you'll realise the holy grail of Hi Res graphics and MMORPG's isn't coming soon. Read the first pargraph !

You have to settle for the backgrounds of LOTRO, the animation and art in Wow and the RvR lore of (perhaps) Warhammer.

But too hi specs are a garanty to disaster. In client software, server stability, internet lag and CODE writing.

I think a LOT of PC players learned more these last few days on the limits of MMORPG's than ever before.

It's about time that designers also stop these pre launch hype of "amazing" "awful" kind of "epic" game play predictions.

200 vs 200 players in siege warfare with the highest possible resolutions isn't going to happen ... soon.

64 GByte central AND adressable memory could be a solution together with faster internet. Perhaps 2011

In the meantime PC gaming software sales are a fraction of the consoles. How much longer will it last???

I fail to see how game graphics/resolution would have any impact on internet lag or server stability.

Nintendo won the marathon already with the Game Boy and the DS against how many other competitors with "superior" super graphics?

On last count I found about 8 machines with far better graphs than the Nintendo handhelds, but always, always the gaming fun factor won.

That myth was blown out of the water today by the Funcom interview.

I say that lag and drops in FPS are caused by client sofware/hardware, server software/hardware, internet infrastucture AND the coding of it all.

Read the interview with FunCom:

I'll help you out:

"It was therefore a trade-off that we divided Conan into zones, and by doing so we also, naturally, had to have load times between the zones. I think this price is worth paying, for sure, but for Open Beta we reintroduced an old bug which expanded the loading times way beyond the acceptable (the bug makes the game write and store tons of code while loading, which increase the loading times too much).

It is noteworthy to mention that if you want a seamless world, you need to stream a lot of the content to make it load right. We tried this, but it meant degrading the quality of the graphics"

--------

They just tought they would conquer the MMORPG world with hi res graphics. Impossible in a seamless open MMORPG world.

Their own words...

10 man Arthas? No thanks.

OMG Legendary Bow! Rogue Weapon!

The masses will not play a game that their shitty machine will not run on. The masses will not buy hardware to play a game. My mom and dad play wow because it runs on their work laptops.

Loading screens SUCK!!! DO NOT WANT

Why does the world split you up into instanced versions of itself? Stupid Funcom.

AOC fails. Just fails. It's a horrible horrible game.
