What of the many revolutionary sounding pieces of the game's design are you guys most excited about? For me it's the following: 1. Collision detection: This alone is going to set WAR's pvp apart from all of the other MMO's on the market. Tanks actually being able to tank in pvp is THE BEST! I mean look at some of the other games out there right now. In WoW a warrior can't stop someone from attacking a priest or a mage, but in WAR a tank can simply stand in front of them and VIOLA problem solved at least temporarily. Also, this opens up a lot of strategy options as to where to engage the enemy. Choke points will be great places to fight because tanks can line up and block entrance while casters and ranged fighters stand behind them unleashing on the enemy. The possibilities are friggen endless with this! 2. Races/classes: The idea that each race has 2 to 4 classes that are fundamentally different from the other race's is epic. It really lends to people testing out the different race/class combos, and totally changes the cookie cutter problems plagueing other mmo's. Daoc is the only mmo I've played that had this sort of design. Sure they can all be broken down into 4 different types of class, but the skills and play styles differ, and that is whats important. This way people don't get stuck in the categorized boring builds of other mmo's with people strictly healing or strictly casting. Find a race that plays the way you want to play and go for it...their all there! 3. The Chaos: Totally evil looking....need I say more? 4. Appearance: The idea that your appearance changes as you grow in power is REALLY cool. I just wonder if you'll be able to customize within a set of boundaries what the differences are. Like, if you are an orc can you maybe get darker but have a blueish tint instead of black? Or, as a dwarf can you change the style of your beard as it grows? Even if you can't it's a really cool way for people to look way stronger than others without having to have raided 100+ hours to get some gear that has purple fruity dragons on it. There are LOTS more things that have me absolutely drooling over this game, but I am rolling out the carpet here to hear about whats making you guys excited.

Good stuff Collision detection is awsome! It just makes the game seem more real, same when characters are running (they run different with different weapons). All four classes of each race being different will just make it much more exciting and challenging, it is also great that there will be no "namby pamby healers" in the game, healers are incredably boring and annoying. It is also great about the appearence change as you get stronger. As for youir questions about orcs and how they change: Orcs are not black they are green (even black orcs), there will be no bluish tinge, they just get bigger as they get stronger. (i play the real warhammer, thats why I know). But the greatest reason why this game is going to be the best thing ever is because it is all based around:

first of all, it's warhammer, duh!
second, I love PvP so this seems just the game for me. Third, collision detection sounds great! last but not least, the classes seem really awesome. |

i want to see a masive army of empire humans (or elves) in a line with spears and fighting off orcs and gobbo hordes but the greenskins would win because they are just more awesome WAAAAAAAAAAAAGH! and the order (cept the dwarfs) are weaker...lol jk

Horus was weak. Horus was a fool. He had the whole galaxy within his grasp and he let it slip away. |
All these are 4 damn good reasons why I think Warhammer will be amongst the highest quality of MMO's.
But you forgot a couple man... 5. THE PVP (the leet DAOC all your base are belong to us pwnage that is Warhammer!!!) 6. Games Workshop - This stellar and popularly growing company is finally getting the recognition it has always deserved. The games this company creates are probably the most exciting and flat out fun to play. With this said, Games Workshop has tons and tons of lore not even touched by Mythic which could provide countless new styles of gameplay to only add the sheer awesomeness that is WAR. From new races and classes, provinces not yet explored by fans, to innovative siege combat and magic exploitation, WAR is only setting the foundation for a golden era of MMO's. Even if it doesn't become a complete success such as WoW or a crumbles to an ill disposed titles amongst MMO fans and the media, I will always be there for WAR. (/hug my Warhammer rulebook) |

Can anyone go into further detail as to what "collision detection" specifically means? |

To give a good example of "collision detection" I can only think of Ultima Online. In UO a player used up endurance to "push" past a target. This could only be done if a target was full on their endurance. If a character was in any state other than fully rested, the target could not pass through. This made for interesting PvP in dungeons as players could block passages. When the PvE only side of UO came out players could walk through each other much like other mmos. Also, I think EQ had some collision detection. I can remember being blocked in the bank in the ice dwarf city by a huge troll. |

Also, collision detection can be used when interacting with monsters. In WoW you can plow past groups of monsters without becoming stuck anywhere. I think UO had the same endurance problem with creatures. If you pushed past a demon and he stood in the doorway, you could not escape past him without waiting for endurance (which you'd die before you regained).
In EQ I don't remember too much about mob collision. I know you could "bump" into mobs, or sometimes walk or jump "over" them. |

The cause of the problem is: |
Personally what I'm looking forward to most...
A well thought out game with staff members, publishers, affiliates... everyone... that looks like they are really enjoying making this game. I guarantee if everyone involved is excited about the game, then it's probably going to be a good game! Just watching the videos they put out, the storylines for their promo video... the interviews with them... gets me excited for this game. I've never seen another company that put so much effort towards having the people involved in the design personally give us the information about it. WAR is the hope of my MMO career |

Collision detection? Cool, that it's finally getting more common in mmos. I knew that Age of Conan has it, but I didn't know WAR also had it. Certainly made the game more appealing to me. I wonder if it's turned off in cities? It could get quite annoying in crowded places.
The Universe is certainly the biggest reason I'm interested in this. They seems to have captured the warhammer universe perfectly. The other reason is PvP which has some nice fresh ideas. Collision detection brings many new possibilities in fighting. I still have my doubts about the fighting system as it feels quite slow-paced from the videos, but I hope they can make it more interesting than the usual mmo combat. |
