Hey guys, I am not saying this is a crappy game I just want to know the truth before I pull out my wallet. This game (I have read things about) reminds me and in MY opinion this looks very similar to WoW. Will this game be like WoW? No offense but I did not like WoW. One thing I look forward to in any MMO is the huge battles and variety in things to do/ weapons etc. Will there be huge battles if so up to how many people? (Please dont lie give an honest opinion) Will there be a variety in weapons? How big is this world? What makes this MMO special from others? MOre questions comming soon..

There's only been 1000 threads asking if this is going to be like WoW and claiming that it will, and whining that it looks like WoW. You could have at least just necro'd one of them. I'll try to be helpful. Huge Battles: There are 4 types of PvP. Skirmish, Battlefield, Scenario, and Campaign. I can research them, but I think the Campaign will be what you're looking for. Weapon Variety: No clue. From the looks of the concept art, we'll see a good amount of weapon variety, but they haven't stated anything that would give a concrete number. How big: With a little research, you'll find that there are 3 battlefronts, 11 zones per front, which means 33 zones. I haven't played the game, so I can't say the exact size of each zone. Some of the zones you can see from vids blend seamlessly. Not sure about other zones. What makes this MMO special: Public Quests (look it up). RvR on three battlefronts. (you can research that too). City Sieges including looting, pillaging, and capturing the opposing king. Collision Detection in PvP. Lateral Leveling System (4 ranks, with 10 tiers in each rank, again you'll have to research a little). 4 unique classes per army(race) meaning there are 24 completely different classes. squig herders. Chaos. I think that's enough of a list. I'm sure there are other things that make it special, but that'll do it for me. Could you explain what makes the game look so similar to WoW? Other than Orcs, dwarfs, and elves? --------------------------------------------- |

Will there be huge battles if so up to how many people? (Please dont lie give an honest opinion) This game is going to thrive and live on battles, if you have played RvR in DAoC you would get a good picture on how EA Mythic are trying to direct WAR. Plus the fact the TT game is just full on battle and there is never a days rest, in the game I'm guessing the battle's will be big Will there be a variety in weapons? Bloody well hope so!How big is this world? Well the Warhammer universe is very big, in lore terms its an overload of history, if you look around the warhammer sites you can get a link to the world Atlas http://www.employees.org/~claycle/WFRP/images/whworld.gif What makes this MMO special from others? PFFT, its warhammer its gonna rock! |

I am a warhammer tabletop player. Which is what this whole game is based behind (story line, areas/zones, weapons, magic, races,... everything) Here is what I know... Battles will be big ( how big I don't know exactly), but they should be pretty epic, especially when a race gets to attack an enemies capital city ( that is destined to be a very large and epic fight, exactly what you said you wanted). As for weapons i do not know what Mythic is doing, but the warhammer world is full of weapons ( magic, mundane, and some are just plain wierd), so if the warhammer world is followed closely there should be a large variety of weapons. Once again the warhammer world is huge (as big as earth), but again it depends on what mythic does. From what I have seen this should be a pretty large world. The thing that makes this MMO special is Realm vs Realm combat. Which will bring forth the large battles. PS: you can get most of what you need to know from the official webpage. www.warhammeronline.com |

Honestly, compared to other sources, this forum isn't the best place to look if you want reliable information about WAR's development, since it is teeming with trolls, naysayers and people who do no research before opening their mouth. To get some more reliable information check out the following sites.
www.warhammeralliance.com - The devs are generally more active here than on any other public forum. www.only-war.com - Very well-moderated. There is a forum dedicated entirely to developer quotes which comes in really handy if you're looking for the word on a specific issue. www.war-rvr.net - The media player section here has heaps of interviews and information. www.warhammeronline.com - Check out Paul's video blog. He gives a good behind the scenes view of things on a fairly regular basis.
So in response to your questions, I would begin your search here (linky) and then try the sites listed above for any further details. |

1. RvR. It's not going to be pointless like WoW. Your faction has objectives(IE: Desicrate the enemy city for Chaos ,or to prevent your entire civilization for being slaughtered for Order.) 2. You can PvP the whole game if you or PvE the whole game if you want. 3. PvE has has some persistance. Like this one quest they've revealed, if you complete it a giant will actually go and attack your enemies. It's not like WoW where you stop the Defias and then go outside and see them harrasing farmers. 4. Not level based. You can go back to any zone and enjoy the content there without worrying about all the mobs being grey and one shotting all the enmy PCs. There's so much more too. You've just been really vague. I mean, what makes City of Heroes different from WoW? Or Guild Wars from DAoC? Or Connan from Vanguard? Now, questions for you. 1. Why didn't you like WoW? 2. Think about what you didn't like about WoW. Ask yourself if you really think it has any relivance to WAR.(IE: I didn't like how quests were pointless gatherings of animal parts in WoW. This won't be relivant to WAR because WAR is RvR.) 3. Having done done 2, do you feel stupid for making this topic? You probably should. |

Then maybe you should be reading the official site and interviews with the developers instead of asking opinions form a forum populated by rabid mmo players who hate/love every game depending on what they're currently playing or waiting for. Best advice I can give. |

WoW = PVE with some pvp, vertical, level based advancement, level 60 kills hundreds of level 20s WAR = PvP with some pve, horizontal, skill based advancement, level 40 kills 2-5 level 20s. if THAT already do not tell you how different they are (like totally), then nothing will. check out www.warhammeronline.com and www.warhammeralliance.com for more info and old threads here "If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day, if you teach him how to fish, you feed him for a lifetime" |
