B. uhm... no? http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/worldofwarcraft/media.html check that gameplay trailer dated 2001. that is THREE YEARS before release. Yes, the UI is not there, the graphics are a bit less advanced, but it is basically the same game. I'm a great supporter of WAR, I love the concept and the stuff and i will still follow development and things, But even *I* think that video wasn't very good. The youtube ones are actually better! the latter makes me think that was a dumbed down version specifically to show "hey! look! we have pvp!" so i've still wagonloads of faith in this game, but you have to admit the movie wasn't very impressive overall. I have to agree with the admission that the videos of people playing the game on YouTube make the game look a whole lot better. I guess this was just maybe a stress test or some sort to see performance while players are engaged in PvP.

Who did wrong? The advertiser hired to sell the game or the consumer who put faith in advertising? |

What did that video have to do with grinding? Nothing...you just tagged your pet issue onto a thread so that you could show us how good you are at 733t speak. When you grow up, you will look back at this way of typing with embarassment. If you are already an adult....you have my sympathy. The game looks good to me, I'm more excited after seeing the footage than before, not sure why people are saying it looks like crap. What many people call cartoon-y graphics, I call stylized. I think putting a little art direction into the game makes it more immersive. EQ2 has some of the best graphics with some of the worst art direction, WoW has some of the worst graphics with some of the best art direction. As they smooth out the engine and start adding tone mapping and hdr and some other things, hopefully this will be a game with some of the best graphics and some of the best art direction. And if you don't agree with me you all suXXorz. |

I found it hard to tell what's going on, I'd much rather have footage with the interface showing because that gives me a better idea of what the player is actually controlling; there's a big difference between watching an autoattack that switches animation and throwing different abilities. I'd also like some feeling of whether the fights are starting with wounded guys or if you can expect a whole fight to be 4-5 hits. It didn't turn me off to the game, but I can't see much to get excited about since I can't really tell what's going on. I think it's kind of silly to complain about sound at this point, they don't usually finalize sound until sometime in beta since it's pretty easy to change later. Same thing with detail levels, early on they have graphics that are more of placeholders than what they'll end with. EDIT: A big question of mine that probably won't be answered until beta is why the guys are standing still. Is there some reason in game to stay still, or are actual fights going to be messy circle-strafe extravaganzas like WOW? Personally I like less movement than WOW, it's just pretty hard to tell from video since players in promo videos tend to stand still regardless of what they do in a real fight. |

The video wasn't meant to make our eyes fall out due to its awsomeness. It was released to give us a feel at how the game is progressing. It showed dwarfs and greenskins fighting using simple attacks. And for a game in ALPA, I repeat ALPHA stage. It looks smooth, and they are proceeding ahead of schedule, which they have said many many times. And they weren't mobs. I am getting tired of ..people who don't know what thier replying about. That was a video of the development team fighting eachother, which they do almost every day to test the game out. Like I said it is in ALPHA, and shouldn't be that impressive, if anyone based thier opion on this..what was it two minutes of footage, then don't plan on going into the career of criticism. |

It was PvP, dumbass. Most people don't consider fighting other players 'grinding'. Maybe if they were NPCs but I think you missed the whole RvR of the video. |

If thats what we have to look forward to with Warhammer, then well I will have to pass. I was hoping that this might be a game that I could play but from what that video showed the pvp looks boring, As much as I hate to say it WoW wont have to worry about this being the game to put any kind of dent in their market share.

i must agree that the video wasn't impressive, and the graphics and animations weren't that bad for alpha, and i'm sure the combat system will improve, but i don't know something about this game keeps reminding me about WoW, maybe the orcs and dwarves look so similar! aaahhh!

Yeah, the video is a little lackluster, but if you were to look around for skill information (WAR-RVR has a ton of screenshots of them) you'll soon see that there's a lot of depth and character building behind it all.
To those that are deterred to play a game by a single simple video, you won't be missed -Et (a.k.a. Zwergner) |
