Heya everyone, just wanted to get some opinions. My friend and I are coming back to WAR after a long break. Just wanted to know if anyone could suggest a server, were playing destruction, and also wanted to know if anyone would give out some info on classes.

What would be the most effective class duo, I know there are probably many that can be combined but I just wanted to know what would make things a bit smoother- both in a leveling and PvP aspect.

Thanks :)

For a server, I'd recommend Dark Crag, Iron Rock, or Phoenix Throne (RP).

On the class combination, I'm sure there are several combinations that would be very effective, but in all honesty, no matter which two you pick, they are probably going to work well enough together to level effectively (other than maybe two non-DOK healers having some issues with dps).  I'd really just strongly advise you to play whatever class is the most fun for you and your friend - the synergy will work itself out.

Other than that, something like a Sorcerer + healer or a Choppa + healer would have good synergy in both PvP and PvE.

Hope this helps!

Awesome thanks :) I'll look into those servers.

He was thinking of being a choppa and I was going to be a shaman or squig herder. Probably the shaman just so we have heals.

Would you say there are new players still coming to the game, or while we start fresh are we going to be traveling through ghost lands?

It's obviously not going to be as full as when the game launched, but I believe there are a fair number of new people coming to the game to try it, as well as previous players like yourself coming back to try it again.  Of course, there are also the alt-aholics (I'll admit it, I've always been one in every game I've played) that help to keep the lower tiers more lively.

You know, I forgot to mention the squig herder as a possibilty in my earlier recommendations.  They are really a lot of fun to play, and they do some really good damage as well.  They are pretty nice against Order healers and casters, too, which is a plus.

Oh, and one thing about the shaman - that's one of the first classes that's going under review for tweaking.  It looks like the proposed changes might make it a more viable healer/dps hybrid.  The proposed changes are here:

http://forums.warhammeronline.com/warhammer/board/message?board.id=dev_discussions&thread.id=846&view=by_date_ascending&page=1

I don't know where they are in the process with this, but it's an interesting read anyway.

Ultimately, I'd still recommend playing the class that seems like the most fun for you.  A small group concept is a lot of fun too, but in the grand scheme of things, you're going to have a lot of other players that would be filling those roles when you RvR, so taking whatever you'll be happiest with long-term is a pretty good idea.

Anyway, I play on Phoenix Throne, so if you decide to go there, drop me a line (my main has the same name as my handle here).  I've got alts that need playin' too....  :)

Sorry if I go a bit off the subject here!!!

I stopped playing a few weeks ago. Not that the game itself is horrible. T1-T3 were ghost for orvr and scenarios were few and far between. Maybe not on DC because its a pvp server.  Im sure people will argue that it isn't true, don't just take my word for it. You should form your own opinion!!

The real problem with this game has more to do with population balance and class balance. To many servers to start off with and don't expect to see any high/high servers, don't expect to see any med/med. Maybe med/low, mainly low/low. My opinion is that Mythic is blowing it with a game that has so much potential. I honestly don't understand why they don't fix the existing issues before adding new content that will more than likely add to the unfixed problems. (server pops are unbalanced, classes are unbalanced, CSRs take forever to respond and end up telling you they can't help you) Mythic thinks they can make you forget about those things by adding new content.

This game is suppose to be a pvp focused game, but it doesn't have the population it needs to have to support that type of focus and many people are finding themselves having to level by doing pve quests and meanwhile they are falling too far behind in renown rank. Example level 40 with a renown rank of maybe 25 - 30 and they have no chance against someone who is level 40 with a renown rank of 50+.

Again sorry if I went off track in my response.

To answer your question though, people come and people go, whatever that means to you!!!

:) I think I have decided on being a squig herder, my friend is going to be a shaman and then my girlfriend wants to be some sort of elf dps. So this should be fun :)

Were going to be playing on the roleplay server, but do people actually roleplay on it? Or is it similar to a WoW RP server where they just flame all day?

There are some people who do roleplay, but from what I've seen, the RP classification mostly applies to character naming.

Certainly no one is ever going to give you any problems for not roleplaying (though some of the Greenspeak that flows over region chat is amusing).

As far as chat is concerned, it's generally pretty reserved, with much of the talk centering on what's going on in RvR.  I haven't seen anything that's the equivalent of "Barrens Chat" yet.

Sounds like you've got the makings of a fun group, though.  Like most games, they are usually the most fun when you're playing with friends.

I'll add you once we get in game, and anyone else who is willing to extend a friendly hand!

Times have changed it seems, not so many people are looking to meet in game friends since many already have a clique or RL friend group they play with. At least that is the case for me, as I remember back a few years ago when I could just go out exploring and run into a handful of people who would like to chat and team up for a while...now theres not so much chatting and less want to team up...maybe its just me lol...

anyhow, friends are welcome- like my sig says :D
