Granted, I bitched about WoW's trade skills- until I played LOTRO- and the way the skills work in W.A.R. I have become a fan of the WoW trade skills again. *sigh*

I was also looking forward to no having to grind. I figured that between PVE, PQs, and RvR, I would have to do little to no grinding. That would be true, if I could ever get into an RvR scenario. I have seen the tier 2 scenario three times since I became level 21, and my tier three guildees have never seen the tier three scenario- even after 30 hours of waiting in queues. After completing upto chap 10 in Chaos, I have also done chap 8-10 in Greenskins, and 8-10 in Dark Elves, and I am STILL level 21. After quitting LOTRO because I spent most of that game farming Yetis for the bonus, I find myself in WAR, once again, farming fucking Yetis because the kill collector gives experience for them

The result of all this is that my already low population server, KIslev, is getting lower. The Guild Master of my guild cleaned out 60 players who had not logged on in over two weeks, which is pretty sad for a game that has been around for only three weeks. I believe we will be clearing out more as there are about 50 people who have not logged on in the past week. People are fleeing this game left and right, which cuts down on the available RvR, which destroys the point, and fun, of the game. When I called customer service to see if I could transfer my toons to a higher population server, I was told that "Was not possible" and that they were "looking for ways to remedy the situation".

I have a remedy: fire Mark Jacobs.

That's right. Fire the incompetent general manager and vice president of Mythic Entertainment who allowed the release an unfinished game, late, with serious flaws and irritating features (20 second send mail delay?) I'm sure that the shareholders have noticed the 30% DROP in stock value since the release of W.A.R. and the fact that the servers are laggy, even with low population, is unacceptable. The higher population servers have a too low of a cap- so the only people who can play are those who don't have school or a job.

Contact EA. Tell them what is going on, and demand accountability. Hold the man who was responsible for this utter debacle accountable and fire Mark Jacobs.

I'd take you a lot more seriously if you hadnt played almost 1000 hours(!!!) of WOW. Sorry, but the intentional and unintentional bias of WOW players against other games is just too strong.

Are you really that ignorant? Its not as if WoW was my first MMO, its just the one that's held my attention the longest. I've played it off an on for almost four years and 1000 hours really isn't that much spread out over that time period. Since then I have played Ryzom (Loved it) , Sword of the New World (sucked), World of Kung Fu (bad pvp), DAOC(too dated), Pirates of the Caribbean (ho-hum), LOTRO (loved it), D&D Online (sucked), some really fun Diablo Spoof, Global Mu, and I guess what I'm trying to say is ignorant trolls who's parents let stay up too long on a weeknight shouldn't be posting on these forums

So let me get this straight your saying just because he plays WOW he's biased, I'am sorry to point this out to you but in those 2 sentences you proven that your 10 times more biased than he is and so going by your own statement your own opinions are worth even less than his.

Trying to get back to WAR right now. First time since I left it last november. Well, everything is just the same. This game is boring like... well, Bergman's films. Thoughtless one-button mashing combat in what had to be "a great PvP game" is just sad. Mark fully deserves his firing. MMORPG without a good combat gameplay will never become a real WoW competitor. Perhaps a bad combat isn't the only reason of the game's failure, but I (and I bet a lot of more) just don't care of others...

A piece of forumhistory here Funny to read the praise this game got at the beginning and now to look back and see what went wrong and also how the fanboys didn't see past their own nose. It's the same old story though. Fanboys will defend their crap and the haters will attack it relentlessy. Can't take any of them seriously. They're both full of crap.

Anyway this game failed for me. Bought the box at launch, didn't even make it past the first free month and promptly stashed in away and forgot about it.

Nah, bullshit. It's not fanboys. It's just time. You need some time you know to understand whether this new MMORPG good or bad. It took me month to understand it was a crap. I hoped something would get changed to better but now it's obvious I mistook...

In all fairness, though- I DID sign back up the day that Mark Jacobs got fired and have been enjoying it for waht its worth. All it took was consolidating 85% of servers so that there would be people to RvR with. There's still not much going on in the PQs, but I have been in Scenarios constantly.

So, let me get this straight. You are enjoying the game now? And you only enjoying it because of HIS work in the last few months since nothing has changed after he's left. You wasn't enjoy the game back then, you are enjoying it now yet you only sign back up when you heard he's gone. It sounds to me like you are having personal issue with the man and not the game.

Are you daft?  I signed back up because a) Can't stand WoW  PvP and didn't want to buy a whole new game (since I already paid for this one and loved the RvR) b) offered me 10 days free (I'm frugal) and c) cut down the servers to around 10 or so creating healthy populations on the two servers that I have toons on. I don't have any personal issue with Mark Jacobs. Professionally he's a lying douche-bag who promoted a game that was unfinished with features that weren't available. I would have fired him in October after he delivered an unfinished game that my companies 4th quarter earnings were dependent on after two long delays. So let me get this straight- you're the kind of person who reads a sentance about a post that started 9 months back and makes a judgement on someone? Maybe you and Mark should hang out.

I knew the game was going to be a complete and utter failure when I saw an E3 video of the lead developer trying to explain the warhammer universe in terms of the elves being posh londoners and the orcs being football hooligans.

Start worrying about other players in a game and dont just play

hehe if they had styed true to the IP and made Warhammer fantasy rollplay into an MMO, this game would have never failed.

It needed a mush more mature gameworld. Sadly the US have to mush censorship, and the fools at Mythic seam to have tought they where better of with a PG 13 teen game. Warhammer lore is not kiddy friendly and should never have been made like this. Sadly the game Industry today looks to lack alot of tallent. Iv looked at games for the last 10 years and said this will fail, and this will be a hit. And you know what I havent been wrong once. Now im not über smart or super skilled at making predictions im not a seer. But if even I can make out what is good and what is not, Video game developers realy need to wake up.

The Mythic game is not Warhammer and MarK Jacobs realy needed to take the fall for his poor judgment. But we still dont know how mush EA was involved in the game. So he might have had his hands tied behind his back and the suit at EA said make us A WoW clone, that is worst then the Original.

Hehe who knows... But we can count on The old rebublic to be the next fail from EA... haha Bioware and thier " we have invented the wheel STORY" has gotten me totaly spooked away from that game. The sadest thing though is that they are to stupid to understand that they have allready failed.

Well, I tried it for a couple more weeks and really liked the population improvements. I think this game has potential, but it still felt dull and underwhelming. The PvP was pretty good, but became monotonous after a while and I still couldn't see a lot of the content (like Public Quests) because no one was doing them. I finally canceled my subscription again when I realized I hadn't played for a week and didn't feel like it. I will probably give it a try in 6 months after they've had some more time to update content and do some more polish.

Your issue is the Low population server. And I do agree with what's been said, to counteract the postlaunch surge of players, they really need to merge some of the lower population servers together. RvR is pretty nonexsistant on the lower pop servers.

My reccommendation - switch to a higher pop server. I'm currently playing on Phoenix Throne (Core-RP) and both Scenarios AND Open World are really active. There are -at least- 2 keep seiges a night (in T3 at least), and Scenarios pop every 5-6 minutes.

Yesh, when I quit, those keeps were switching hourly.

Surprised??  That coming from a guy that's played another one of the most borish and mundane mmo's available, aside from the Asian grinders, WoW for 1100 hours?

You are either on crack, missing a chromosome or a combination of the 2.

People, if your having a hard time leveling, get into a guild and suck up to the higher level members. In case you didn't know, power leveling in this game is in full force. By that, I mean a level 1 and a level 40 can group, level 40 kills all the mobs and players needed to complete quests, PQ's, PvP objectives and so on. All you need to do is some scenarios when your leveling friend isn't around.

Scenarios at level 8-11 amount to about 7500-10000 XP a pop and scenarios take how long? 10-15 minutes tops? Level 11 requires about 80-100k XP, so 10-15 scenarios and you just made 12.

WAR is easy to level in if you know what your doing, which usually means joining a guild.

EDIT: My bad, you can only group with a level 1 as long as your not 23. My original statement of 40 was incorrect.

The game is absolutely badass in tier 1 and 2. You hit the wall at tier 3

It took me less than a month to realise this game was crap. Maybe I see those signs quicker than other people. So nope, ain't bullshit. You can see that a mmo is crap the first 10-15 levels, depends on the level cap and the speed of leveling. If they suck, then the rest of the game will suck for you too. Mmo's as much the journey as the destination, for me atleast. The instant gratification crowd doesn't agree, but then I don't look at them as gamers, least of all mmo gamers.

It took me a few hours of trials for me to realise that most of these games are crap. Same combat system, same quests, same everything. I might as well play f2p games than pay $15 bucks on one of the big name games. They're all the same.

Heh, somewhat the same for me but I wanted to give the game a fair chance to convince me otherwise.
