The more I see about AoC the more I want to save my 40$ for Aion or Spellborn when they finally come out. War Im not to sure about... AoC is kinda sitting badly with me for various reasons. |

Have you actually played the beta? I have and what a disapointment. I felt like I was playing EQ all over again with the loading screens. Graphics, quests, areas all unimpressive. What really disapoints the most is taking a Great name "Conan" attatching it to a video game and unterally mucking it up. No wonder Conan wore his crown on a troubled brow!

| KEAS players are often individuals who like to feel immersed in a virtual worlds and see themselves as a great villain or crusader within that world. They seek out challenges against other players, but they are going to find all the areas of that world. They'll often know about the best hiding places and ambush points |

It's funny how all of these games are based on a single mechanic these days. Kill your 10 rats then raid. MMO's will continue to become more compartmentalized, more specialized and more cost effective (instancing) I'm also predicting micro payment driven opposed to monthly sub. Pretty much the opposite of what they started as.

I am playing AOC on a Dell m1730 with dual 8800gtx and the 9000 extreme processor with a steady 8mb connection and playing capture the flag was unplayable - 5 - 15 fps. Worse than SWG used to be, worse than EQ2 at highest settings. Very disappointing. The released product needs to be much better if it wants to be a success. I am a little put off by the lack of movement during melee animations too, I felt stuck to the ground, unable to dodge, or run around the player as I attacked. Not to mention the camp cloaks and the terrible voiceover. when the flag is captured/dropped. Plus, the flag sticking out of the back of the player as he runs with it. Come on, are there really no other ideas they can think of for fun pvp?
sigh... next! > war... |

The pen is mightier than the sword if the sword is very short, and the pen is very sharp. |
I think both will have their followers (I'll be in both camps myself). The AoC patch from yesterday should show some very nice performance in a lot of folks systems (or at least a lot more than before) and I suspect that after this weekend's opened up PvP and the screenshots/movies that come from it people are going to salivate even more. |

WTS - a clue. cheap. |
Originally posted by Crusher is there a reason that players believe this is an 'us versus them' thing? we all want a GOOD game to play. good means it plays well on that person's computer. good means it's FUN. good means it's NOT a j.o.b. good means that it's FUN. why all the 'us vs. them' mentality? are aoc servers going to war with war servers or wow servers? fanboi-ism is dead. fanboi mentality is the same sort of thinking that causes dogs to poop, smell it, think "hmm food" and then eat it. THAT is what a fanboi does. we don't need fanbois. we don't need 'us vs. them' in the player world.
if there's problems with a game for some players, it's an 'us (players) vs. them (game company)' thing.
that is ALL there is.
anything else is wrong and probably a fanboi, like what i described.
i despise games with "end game" raiding; because it's a cop-out on the part of the gaming company, it's a timesink, it's BORING, it forces me to hang out and listen (on vent/ts) to basement dwellers and children whine about mommy for hours on end. but if some people like that, fine, whatever. but, i can't tell them they're stupid for liking it. i CAN believe they're stupid for liking it; but, if THEIR game is jacked and they're unable to play it -- i should support them in wanting to be able to play the game THEY enjoy.

Originally posted by needalife214 Well keep in mind that AoC's "open beta" costs money to get into so it's not technically open. You have to subscribe to fileplanet just to get a chance to download a key. Seems kind of shady to me. WAR's open beta should be better because they postponed in order to make sure that the game was more complete. I'd be very disappointed if it turns out not to be true. |

Ok your all wrong about having to pay for open beta. you can download it at file planet for FREE but you have to wait in a que to download it (paid members dont have to wait in que). just make an account (the free one not the paid upgrade). i downloaded it for free, i just had to sit in que for like 5 hours lol but i still got it.. an uninstalled it about an hour after i downloaded it.. but still i got it.. FREE:P |
