This game is being based off Dark Age of Camelot !!!! It is not a wow clone.......there is no such thing as a wow clone. If anyone keeps up with mmos you would know that blizzard was once in talks to make this game for Games workshop and pulled out !!! They decided to make a mmo based of warcraft lore which is based on games workshops early pen and paper/minatures games. Now that Mythic is making it they are using their own system which is a exact copy of Daoc wiht some polish. Graphics don't make or break a game look at grand theft auto graphics sucked but gameplay was awesome. Tired of people saying everything is a wow clone, read up and get some facts then post plz!!!!!!! In any matter don't call any mmo wow clone unless the company that made it has no proir mmo under their belt, and the game looks like they rip the graphics straight from the wow cds

Warhammer Online is using an improved engine similar to that used to create Dark Age of Camelot, but the game itself is in no way based off of Dark Age of Camelot. The only similarities lie within the successful concepts taken from Mythic's DAoC and implemented into Mythic's Warhammer Online.

Uh thats what i said...they had a roman based game before warhammer..then dropped it to make warhammer. They are using the base concepts form Daoc... But most people say they stole teh pvp and all that from wow...AND raiding was invented in EQ wow fanbois along wiht DKP which means Dragon kill Points!! Now who stole from who?

Why shouldn't players compare one game to another? If we can't compare, how are we gonna say if it's good or not?

And I couldn't care less what the game is based on, Chuck Norris could have had the original idea for all I care, -  it looks like WoW, and that's enough WoW-clone for me.

If Wow - clone would mean it has the same quality as Wow that made me game Wow for 2 years I'd say YES !
Together with the Warhammer miniatures lore it would be great.

BTW, I think they made a smart move of having these graphics. They are indeed Wow like but they just upped it to have the same performance on present day computers.

So finally an MMO with some real open (seamless) worlds and not some closed closet extreme long loading stuff with dropping frames per second animations.

You are bitching about this game not being a WOW clone but are 'proud' of it being a DAoC clone? 

Ummm.. WTF?

And yes, there are things such as WoW clones... look at SWG for an example of what tried to emulate the wow formula.. and that's not the only game.

So, if you are happy with a shinier, more polished DAoC clone.. um.. more power to ya... but most of us are looking for a game with at least some innovation and new gameplay...not the same bullshit over and over and over again.

If you want DAoC, then go and play DAoC.  We don't need a remake.

im not a fan of warhammer, but i do remember ia interview with the lead designer of the wery first Warcraft strategi game, and he was talking about getting a feel and look like the one in Warhammer. so if anyone is copying anything its warcraft..  as usual.

Look at the big picture. WOW is like finding an inmense valley full of diamons, they are making 1 million of euros per month. Remember what Paul said in that conference, they (Blizzard) sent their ships to unknown lands and came back with riches.

That's what EA Mythic wants, period. So the best bet is to make the new WOW. Making the new DAoC is not. Of course they are inspired by their previous game, but the light to know what makes the masses play a game is WOW, and they surely are following it, in my oppinion.

Warcraft sounds way cooler than Warhammer.

The relevancy that Warcraft copied Warhammer to me as a consumer that has no ties to either IP is exactly nill.

All I care about as a consumer is whether the new game does not already resemble something I was already playing. That one copied the other in some long lost past in some other genre is of no value to me. All that matters to me is whether MMO B resembles MMO A.

If so that's MMO B's loss, not MMO A, for doing again what I already know even though regardless of whether they  may have been the first to actually use it somewhere else.

(This argument is disconnected from whether or not they actually have any similarities or not between the two right now)

It may be somewhat diffrent, and it may have taken aspects from DaoC..The fact still remains that it's very close in looks of World of Warcraft and in gamelplay style(RvR) from DaoC..

The other day I read a Swedish gaming mag(Level), they had an article "comparing WoW VS Warhammer" with text and pictures side by side..This article was very long. It was hard to tell the diffrence between these 2 games sometimes...And even if they didnt mentioned them as "clones" thay said that "these 2 games where extremly close in looks and gameplay"..They also testplayed the game...

So..If even the proffesional gaming reporters "almost" calls it a WoW clone, so why can't we do it aswell..?

Well just some thoughts..
