The folks at RF Online have announced the addition of a new server.
Codemasters Online are excited to announce, that due to high demand, a brand new world has been opened for new players beginning to enter the 100% Free to Play Online game, RF Online. The new world – Lumen – will sit along side the existing RF Online server Novus where players can enjoy all the latest features and new content that the recently released Episode 2: The Pioneers of Novus has to offer.
More on RF Online here.
Er.. okay.
I was pretty confused there for a bit. It apparently went F2P very recently and they haven't updated their website.
If anyone else comes here to comment on their "100% free game" when the game's website still talks about subscription services and trials, well, there's your answer.
I darn near passed it off as (more or less) a scam of some sort. They really need to update their site.
It is free to play, there are no subscription fee's the website still hasn't been updated and it's an important change we have been asking for, to give the correct information to potential new players.
Yeah, they definitely need to update it.
I looked for a trial key but they have removed the page that gives the codes. The note on the page says that it'd return Oct. 10th.. hmm, oops. :-)
It's kind of a shame that they made this announcement but there's not a way to check it out for ourselves at the moment (unless you want to spend $14 for a free game).
their Re-launch is 10/17
until then, seems like Fileplanet is the only way to get earlier access

Not that I am knocking the game, I'm sure it is a good one, but I haven't heard from this title in so long I forgot it was out. There has been no news on mmorpg on this title for the past couple of months. Good for them, hope all goes well.
You can get a Free game key for the full version from http://www.fileplanet.com/promotions/mmoclub/rfonline.aspx, or you can use a old free trial key, http://www.mmorpg.com/rf_online_trial.cfm.
Both will give you full access to the game ^^.
The mmorpg.com link provided a key that worked. Thanks for the info folks. :-)
nice that its free, to bad the only place to get the client is fileplanet, who is only giving it to paying members atm. unless someone knows someplace else to get it.
Does anyone know where to get the client for free?Ok I found it for free. Xfire seems to be the way to go.

I used Xfire to get the client and it downloaded at a pretty reasonable 200-300kbps. Only took me a couple of hours at that speed to finish installing.
I downloaded it and played it when it first went F2P for a few days but it just does not have the degree of polishing that the more mainstream MMOs have. Almost feels like it was some half baked college science class project.
