Acclaim has announced that they have made the game client for The Chronicles of Spellborn available for download in advance of the start of the closed beta test in the regions where Acclaim licenses the game.
Los Angeles, CA (March 13, 2009) – Acclaim Games releases the official game
client for download in anticipation of the release for The Chronicles of
Spellborn MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game). Players
anxious to join the game can begin downloading and installing the game on
their PC now, so they will be completely ready to play once the game is
available.
The first players that will have access to the Closed Beta are handpicked
from the Acclaim chats, David Perry’s twitter and Historian’s beta tester
list. This first group of players has been limited to 200–500 players to
allow thorough game testing. After the first group of players test the game
Acclaim will start activating 1,000 new accounts every 12 hours starting on
Friday March 14, 2009…

If anyone was wondering what regions Acclaim covers for TCoS:
"Acclaim will provide Spellborn game service to players in North America, South America, United Kingdom, Albania, Andorra, Australia/New Zealand, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Serbia & Montenegro, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Turkey"
For so long I've been waiting to get accepted and I'm not. Utter disappointment. :|
They are sending out new batches of invites every 12 hours until they reach closed beta capacity. :)

I know but.. you know how many people has registered? It's like a 2% chance for me lol ;P
Dave Perry's twitter. Great. What must that be like.
Expect to see twin hunchback lesbian hermaphrodites from Davenport, Iowa getting in the beta before YOU.
You got something against twins, hunchbacks, lesbians, and/or hermaphrodites? Not to mention a whole Iowan City?
I'd already fallen asleep waiting on Acclaim actually doing something with this game within their licensed regions; especially after already having installed their client, created an account and then getting frustrated for over a week and a half of seeing it sit at "Pending," with no response from their *cough* Support *cough*. Then, when they finally did respond, it turned out that there wasn't actually any point in having an account because it wasn't even available to play, yet.
Yeah. That was fun to find out.
Can't say I'm overly surprised by Acclaim's ineptness, though; they've repeatedly proven that they're pretty damn good at dropping the ball.
Enthusiasm for TCoS? Long gone.
This needs another closed beta? O.o
Just release it.... :/
I was ASTONISHED to see the hype level at 8.3?IMO i have nothing against this game, but my gut tells me it will not succeed at all.I pay pretty good attention to what goes on in the gaming world and i would have to say the hype meter at 8.3 is quite false,i have not gathered that much hype out of this game at all,IMO it is closer to 5,or less,i have heard VERY little rumblings about this game lately.
Every single game Acclaim has released has been VERY cheap,as they seem to be geared towards the cheap F2P type asian games. This game seems like a bold step up for them, however i feel it will not deliver,i tried the original beta and although it seemed ok,it did not seem to move beyond any other F2P i can find.
I would say if this game was F2P it may carry a minimal audience,my guess? around 100k maximum subs.
Ha Ha. I was in the original CB and when I read the headlines of this article I thought, 'Was it only a dream?' I suppose it would have been too confusing to say CB2 but such as it is.
I am not going to hold my breath for this game. Acclaim has not been a very good company up to this point, not sure why the Spellborn devs picked them unless they had no better offers. I would not expect alot of support if you want to play this game. Acclaim does not spend much money on support staff.
Oh and I agree wth Wizardry, I doubt there is much hype for this game and Acclaim will do an excellent job of dissuading those that think there is.
You can just wait till the IP block gets lifted (when Open Beta begins) and join our EU (non-Acclaim) servers ;)
I was in closed beta and have played the final and comparing it to a F2P title couldn't be more off the mark.
I'm not from Davenport or one of a set of twin hunchback lesbian hermaphrodites. Ha.
I only registered for Twitter when TheHistorian made a post about signing up for it. I took his post as a hint that something was going to happen on Twitter regarding TCoS. About an hour later I finally made a Twitter account and the first post I read (which was less than a minute old) was the first 100 people to email David Perry would get a CB account. I will probably never use Twitter again but it got me into TCoS CB the moment it started.
What a competent "deal maker" at both sides :S

So was I, which I know that even with all the testing and feedback it didn't really matter how much time they had to work on it, nothing really changed. Some serious fixes yes, but none of the good suggestions were taken to heart as far as I remember.... Another closed beta isn't going to do anything, seems like a glorified stress test...
As for the hype, it was huge 2 years ago, but things went very slowly and well you can see it where it is now, while the game is very different in many areas it is lackluster. Reminds me of WAR honestly but with an indy touch. If that makes any sense, so while some people will find features of this game amazing, many will be like meh.
That's my prediction anyway.
Played the Euro version uninspired non immersive and boring which is a shame because it had so much potential.
Thankfully Warrior Epic starts its open beta next week ....now there is a MMO that kicks ass, played teh Closed beta and can not wait for it to come back.
Are you serious? You just passed the Mustang for the Neo-Geo.
As far as I'm concerned...Dave Perry needs to keep his twitter covered at all times. No one wants to see that shite.
i think people should always go into extrees, sometimes just be happy if a game is fun :)
for me (i play it for some 2month in germany now) tcos is no wow killer, or the messiah of sandbox gaming, its just a nice, solid game.
even tough i like it, i wouldnt call it amazing but i do hope it stays long enough to become some kind of eve or ddo.
Fix'd
I found the game very immersive. The sound, for example, was very well done.
I think this game may have a chance with Acclaim.
We will see alot more players on these servers.
Found the game very immersive too, music is nice. But the game is imo unfinished and has little content. You can play TCOS 1 maybe 2 months, no more. (If you can find other people online because EU servers are empty) I don't like at all char's design, worst i saw in a mmorpg. This game has serious potential (PVP areas, Houses versus Houses, storyline, interesting quests sometimes, nice AI) but is unfinished for the moment. (bugged quests, no HL content , no serious PVP etc)
