When you know how much money the server maintenance of a good MMO costs, you can understand that they can not be free to play and give a good experience at the same time. |

The cost of Employees ( loan/wages) by far outscales that of server-maintenance. By which I in no way try to say that the maintenance is cheap, but it's not even on the chart compared to loancosts. |

Loanscales are set for divisions, but the section "loan" in any company, is definitely not shared with other costs. I've worked at the administration for several companies and all of them have seperate departments for wages. The only time wages and other costs become connected, is when every department has to cut back on spendings. In that case, every department gets a tag with the total expenses, after which management decides for a proper action. Most of the time, cutting back means letting people go. |

You can not calculate the totall costs of maintenance without taking peoples salary intoo account..

I would rather pay for a MMO in some form, that way we should be getting quality updates :) |

People = salary The extra costs per employee are a seperate cost and have no affect on the actual cost of the maintenance. All the above can be completely ignored as an example, because however much you turn the coin, there is no way, that any company calculates the cost of it's maintenance by adding salary to that list. It's one 100% a different line on any report. Th doesn't mean that there is no "maintenance crew/department", where you can see how much people get payed for their jobs, how much salary in total goes to this department and how much they spend on maintenance, but in the end, only how much they as a department spend on maintenance, is going to count as a maintenance cost. I'm not going to explain it any further, it's even the law to do it this way, to keep accounting transparent and prevent corruption within companies. |

Gamers who use RMT are like athletes who use steroids. |
Subscription based games not only help maintain a level playing field, no item shops or RMT support, but also help reduce the number of riffraff and kiddies, which is a very good thing. |

Pay to play games are always well not always but most of the time higher quality than games that are free so i dont care if i pay to play the game, almost every mmo is updated regually anyway. And besides who the hell complains about paying 8 pounds a month(15$ roughly) i earn that on a part time job in little over an hour not bad considering how many hours if you add them up you get out of the game per month compared to how much you earn per month. And its certainly more cheaper than going to the movies or out for a drink, or even other forms of gaming 35 pounds per new released game on average and they usually last like 20 hours in total. Compared to mmos which quite alot of people play for years at a time. Very few normal games last that long of a time unless they either have 1 or 2 things, 1 multiplayer thats good, or 2, modding tools. |

Compare WoW's playerbase to any of the "so called" free item shop games and you will think WoW's playerbase is very mature. |
