thats a really big cross for such a small person... other than that, i find the whole idea awesome, i think that is an interesting way to deal with the gankers.

They come in all shapes and sizes. You're probably used to seeing smaller latin crosses like the one Jesus is commonly depicted alongside.
But there are tau crosses, latin crosses, decussate crosses, simple crosses etc. And each crux could come in various sizes.
I really don't find this insulting or degrading to my beliefs because my faith is to strong for such a trival thing but I do think it is disgraceful and disrespectful to most christians. As creative as most people are that I know of this is best they could come up with? I mean why not use something from medevil times like the stockade or something more sinistar. Certainly this guy could use whatever he wanted and I could not stop him, I just think it's stupid.
I have to agree this is a bit much. Some Christians may take offense to this. I am not a Christian but i was thinking of playing this game in past and even signed up for the beta although i didnt get in. Im kind of glad now that i didnt . I didnt realize that this game was gonna be that over the top with the roman theme and im a bit disapointed that they did this. Games are supose to be fun not serious like this. I have played lots of games online and i have seen all differnt ways they ban people for doing bad things. I dont know maybe the idea of putting them in a virtual dungeon or something would have been better. Now people walk by stare at this person up on the cross as evil as he may have been in the game to others no one deserves to be put on a cross.

Romans crucified their criminals that's what they did, it has nothing to do with christ they crucified thousands of people.
This kind of subject matter has no place in a game, and does nothing but trivialize the crucifixion of Christ. When a form of entertainment has to sink to levels this low in order to entice people to buy the product, it is a good sign that the product is not worth buying in the first place. I hope the developers of this game see the flaw in their logic and realize that they are pushing away a portion of their player base, simply because of moral values, that shouldnt be involved in a " game " anyway.
Im not saying that mature or politically incorrect subject matter should not be in games, very far from it infact, but the point I am trying to make is that making a mockery Christs crucifixion, in order to boost your sales is just wrong.

Seriously, it's just a game. Christ wasn't the first, nor last, to be cruixified.
Exactly my point, its just a game. This kind of subject matter is just to politically incorrect to incorporate into a " game " without pushing away a considerable amount of your player base.
Hmmm....crucifixion is too "politically incorrect". Yet, somehow, i'd figure killing things would be too. Oh yeah, and other people for that matter. Since it's a game and crucifixion is politically incorrect and shouldn't be in a game with a Roman Theme. Then we need to have them throw out all the death and killing. Wouldn't killing things be a "mockery of christ" too? Since he died for our sins?
You people make me laugh, i know many christians, and most of them think that this sort of thing is fine since it fits with the theme of the game. And all of them feel ashamed to be called christian because of other christians that take things too far when they feel they need to lash out at something and make a big fuss over something as dumb as this. Really, bravo, you just pissed off many of your fellow christians. Really, they are yelling in my ear to say some pretty nasty stuff.
Originally posted by maimeekrai I see his name, maybe they need to put his offense up there also. Unfortunately, there is a segment of the players that will be trying to get crucified. I doubt the ganking will cease....
I have to say I don't see how this is going to deter anyone. I don't know alot about the game however I presume the player did it voluntarily? Or is this just some fancy version of him dieing?
We did realize some people may get upset with this. However, Roma Victor is striving to be historically authentic. Crucifixion was used as the worse sort of death sentence a person could receive. Only treason and other high crimes would even get a person considered for crucifixion.
It will be like this in RV. Only when RedBedlam sees that a player has become a troublemaker (with that badge assigned to them by a player elected player) will we act and ban them. Instead of them just disappearing from the game for a week, their character will be displayed in the crucified animation. We also realize that people will strive to see who can be crucified the most. They're welcome to try, as after they come back, they'll find many NPCs unwilling to do business with them...and if they continue causing trouble, will be banned out right forever.
As far as naming another person besides Jesus that was crucified, Yehohanan, the son of Hagakol was crucified around the same time as Jesus. This is in fact the only Archeological evidence of a crucifixion found to date. The writer Josephus wrote about thousands of crucifixions. And lets not forget that little slave revolt that ended up lining both sides of the Via Appia with crucified Sparticus'. It was from Capua to Rome, and had about 6,000 crucified slaves.
We don't mean to offend anyone, far from it, we mean to show life as it really was. We don't want to sugar coat it. Life back then was harsh for most of the known world. We hope people will understand our position on this.
LOL

Lol, but yeah. I have to agree with Maimeekrai. I think that now people will be trying to get cruicified just to get the attention.
Now this is innovation. It's nice to see this kind of creative thinking from game developers.
I have to admit hearing this has raised my interest in the game, despite the earlier remarks I made about the graphics.
lol this is pretty funny. Glad to see something diffrent for a chance.
I just hit the tipping point after seeing these images. Now I'm interested.

In here.
haha.. my ol' friend cynewulf..
looks like he's been up to his usual mischief.
Feel the same!
This game has my interest now

You are ignorant. They aren't mocking Christ. The Roman's crucified many people, not just Christ.
Sure they did, name some.
The first one that comes to my mind, and I am sure yours as well is Christ.
