Uhm..yah.  Every single feature Dave has released into EQ2, including Content (tm), has been half-baked and severely bugged.  Under his direction in the last 2 years, the test server population's feedback has been staunchly ignored, pushing content from design to Live despite multitudes of in-depth player commentary.  He is the worst single producer the franchise has seen in its entire 13 year history.

SOEmote?  A gimmick that the entire community is laughing at.  Go to the forums and read the player feedback.  When there are fundamental gaming issues that have been repeatedly discussed in very lengthy constructive threads..this comes along.  It wasn't asked for, it wasn't needed, next to no one (including the RP community) is going to use it and it will undoubtedly launch in a broken form that will see it abandoned like every other brilliant feature Dave has concocted since his rise to power.

EQ2 is now being used to beta test features that will implemented in EQNext.  This is just one more piece of lovliness being inflicted on a dwindling population, further proving that Dave is completely out of touch with the playerbase despite several constructive attempts at community-corporate communication.

The problem with Everquest and EQ2, was that they were both great for a while, then became over saturated with stuff that makes the game something far from the greatness it had. This is a cool idea I guess, but it's not what EQ2 needs. I really hope that EQnext is going to be great and move back to the early EQ days. hehe.

Mizzmo, I'm with you on that one a EQ game that goes back in time instead of forward would be absolutely To Die For.... and take away all the restrictions make leveling harder. Bind on Equip items go away but just put a limit number on how many you can own. I hate people that try to fix everything reguardless if its broken or not. Allow us to be able to Kite Giants ... Have Good Vs. Evil again Factions that allow you to be able to work to get a new piece of shiny. If your going to add something add a Faction based Village and People have to Work to rebuild it ... Like Take freeport and Quellious ... They both start out as villages ... And if thats your home town you can work to make it bigger and then everyone with those factions maxed get Dps bonus or something of that nature. thats a good change ... Not 1-80 with way to many quests in the zone and not enough grinding and camping. .... I hate talking about Everquest its So lost to these people anymore....

Really? A new innovative feature comes along in a genre(MMO's) that is growing stagnant and unimaginative and you say it's a gimmick and that we are all laughing at it?

SOEmote should be applauded and embraced by the MMO community and I think it will after pessimistic players like you are long gone.

It's players with attitudes like yourself that offer no constructive feedback that contribute to our games becoming less and less attractive to play.

Well done SOE and keep it coming!

This is a great idea.. And if the code can be implemented in all SoE games then its well worth the time/money investment

Rime, if you had -any- clue as to what you were talking about in regards to Dave Georgeson and his reign of lies and broken content you wouldn't wear your fanboi hat.  Oh, wait, your fanboi hat denies you the ability to see the truth.

Yes, the community is laughing at SOEmote.  As I suggested, go to the EQ2 forums and read the very lengthy thread on the topic.  Educate yourself.  You and two other people are looking forward to this shiny new miracle.

Every. Single. Feature. that Dave has brought in has crashed and burned, was outright abandoned, or remains so underused and bugged that its next to useless.  This isn't pessimism, buddy, its a very easily verifiable history of development.  While you are reading the forums, do some further reading to see Dave's track record as well.

Of course, when this releases its quality and usefulness will speak for itself.

OK, I wasn't really referring to the Dev or his track record and since I stopped playing EQ2 long ago, I can't say what the pulse of the EQ2 community is these days, but I did follow your link and it seems biased either way as is the norm on all game forums. No surprise there.

But, how can you argue that new, innovative ideas aren't being desperately sought after by many gamers who are growing weary of the same ole' crap game companies are injecting us with these days?

I fail to see how judging a new feature such as SOEmote before it is even out there or declaring it a fail is going to help or motivate game companies to show some creativity on our behalf. After all, it's supposed to be about the gamer isn't it?

Btw, I've never been called a "fanboi" before, but thanks for that. I am a big fan of gaming...:)
