todeswulf writes: It looks like the new producer actually has the capability to hear what the player base has been asking for. Of course EQ II is going to have even more competition come this fall and SOE can't beat around the bush if they want to retain any sembelence of a subscriber base. Mon Jun 22 2009 7:01PM Report
M1sf1t writes: How about updating the stagnate armor models? Wearing the same plate armor or cloth robes except for a texture tweaks is lame. Mon Jun 22 2009 10:24PM Report
Hady writes: Just fantastic lots of new content coming, Im really looking forward to the shader revamp which combined with the recent shadows update will change the look and feel of the game for good. I am glad to see they are keeping EQ2 up there in the graphical departmemt! Mon Jun 22 2009 10:37PM Report
Ozigoul writes: Everything he mentionned convinced me why this game is not doing better. Come on, writting your own story in a book and sell it to a broker or put it in your house. How detached of reality do you need to be to want to do that. Also SOE has no idea what kind of market they are targetig. You can't find EQ2 in any shops, yet they are targeting casual vanilla player by smoothing exp curve. Well yes I am casual, will never play this one. Mon Jun 22 2009 11:35PM Report

Renessa writes: I used to play EQ2 for years and though I am havng a break from it right now, for me it is still one of the best all-rounder mmos out there. If they move towards solo content again (they moved away from that in the last extention) I might have another go this autumn. Tue Jun 23 2009 2:06AM Report
Speiberbob writes: EQ2, although im no fan of SOE, is still one of the most entertaining mmorpgs. Tue Jun 23 2009 3:20AM Report

JeroKane writes: @M1sf1t: There are already new armor models in the game. Since TSO they finally started introducing new armor models :) Tue Jun 23 2009 4:54AM Report
Ezzerial writes: EQ2 has been a staple in my mmo diet and I can not wait for the next and all future updates. Sony was the first to do it right and they will continue to keep it fresh. Thank you SOE. Tue Jun 23 2009 8:25AM Report

M1sf1t writes: You both are wrong they didn't actually add anything new. They just added new textures to existing armor is all and then added a few trinks on them. The base armor models themselves have remained the same since launch. There is a big difference between re-texturing a armor model and actually creating a brand new spanking models to be used through the game. Everyone with knowledge of EQ2 knows that the engine is not capable of scaling new designs properly amongst the playable races in game. It's basic design flaw of the EQ2 graphical engine of which it is mainly hindered by the arse backward in game skeletal system. All the armor models in the game have been there since launch. All they are doing is mixing and matching stuff around and then slapping new textures on them and a few new trinkets like spikes on stuff. Nothing has changed period. Tue Jun 23 2009 8:28PM Report
M1sf1t writes: Her's a perfect example of what has not changed in this game since it has launched. All they are doing is just re-texturing stuff. http://eq2.eqtraders.com/articles/article_page.php?article=g100&menustr=065000000000 Tue Jun 23 2009 8:32PM Report
diknak writes: The new shader model will be nice, but I still think they should be focused on optimization of CPU vs GPU usage. There are still too many parts of the system that are CPU heavy. In regards to the armor models, the casters are really the only ones that are getting screwed in terms of reusing the same models. In GU51, they added the second robe model to the game, but before that, every other robe was the same with just different textures. Here is the new robe model: http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr164/Diknak/newrobe.jpg Hopefully that we will continue to see new models appear in the game for the next expansion. M1sf1t writes: That isn't a new model. That is the exact same thing save they took off the hood and removed the sleeves and added in some shoulder weak pads. Come on now they could of tried harder. They really need to revamp the skeletal system because the game is stagnate looking in the design department. Oh and it's not just cloth armor as plate and chain armor all suffer from the same issues of rehashed designs. In other words a pig with lip stick and wig is still a pig. strykr619 writes: Gotta love how people are complaining about item looks, the game is 5 years old and still DESTROYS 95% of MMORPG graphics out today. ( including many of the newer titles ). Also for the people asking for better CPU vs GPU optimization, thats what they are doing , aka off loading shadows to gpu in LU 52 and now shaders. Btw no PC user today should be using a single core CPU still hell, dual cores are outdated already. What SoE needs to do is optimize how the game runs on multicore, even with a quad core I notice that it still taxes one core heavier then the other 3. Optimize that and it will go A LONG WAY to make CPU usage better. Wed Jun 24 2009 5:40AM Report
fzzzt writes: I want to like EQ2. It's a beautiful game and I like the voice-overs. Unfortunately the instancing and zoning and general lack of freedom vs. EverQuest are just killers. Also, making the leveling curve flatter doesn't make me want to play; being able to get to higher levels faster doesn't make me want to play. I suspect most casual gamers are the same way. Is the low-level content boring and not worth spending time on? Would my high-level friend not want to go through it again with an alt? No replayability? Why not just let me skip some levels after the newbie area while you're marginalizing content? Wed Jun 24 2009 8:08AM Report
Drakaran writes: I've played recently, using the gpu shadows. The shadows add a little, but it still looks the same otherwise. it's not really that big of a deal, and I haven't really seen any optimizing of the graphics utilizing the gpu (which it has sorely needed for YEARS). IOW, I've only been able to go from balanced graphics to high graphics even though I had a HUGE increase on my hardware. Thu Jun 25 2009 8:55PM Report

Brorim writes: EverQuest 2 really does not have any competition at all regarding MMO quality. The games worst problem is lack of advertising. You cant name a single MMO with the same amount of content for all playstyles be it solo, group or raid. The graphics is stunning no more than stunning its amasing. I used to be a SWG player and I was one of the people that HATED soe for what they did to that game. Never in the history of MMO's have any gamedeveloper made such a huuuge mistake. It took them several years to actually do the right thing and admit they screwed up. Since then SOE has been doing more than ANY other company to actively listen to the players. I have never seen anything like it . If you go to the main EQ2 game forum you will see developer trackers and forum threads where anyone can make ONE question or ONE suggestion to the actual gameplay. The devs will then go through it and once a month answer directly and in many cases you can see them implementing suggestions and strategies that comes straight from the forum. So why do you find this little message right here in this spot. Because , I'm pretty tired of people making completly baseless comments about everquest II. It is an amasing game and if you havent tried it you can simply download the trial and give it a go .. It's that easy . After you have done that and actually given it a shot you get to have the right to shout at it or do what 95% of eq2 do namely love the game. Yours. Thu Sep 10 2009 11:56AM Report
