not sure what the problem is with cash shops..has long as they are not pay to win.its no different than blizzard selling a mount for $40.

Looks like the same wings thats been in Wizard 101 for sometime .

The article states that they're only available from the cash shop but somebody replied with "And you can get the wings in game from a quest"...any idea which is the case?

But...

When you say "Player Wings", I expect the wings to be on the player, not the toon!

most of the items like this in the cash shop can be gotten by quests..i go a leaper,which is a raptor type mount that leaps quite a considerable distance.just thru doin a couple of quests at butcherblock mtns at lvl 30

1, yes, it's pretty much up there

2, probably because it costs money for original music over using something that might be in public domain and just plain out ruining it

Wrong awnser most of these things and others you can NOT get from quests , ive been playing eq2 for 5 years just left after the free 2 spend conversion.

Soe destroyed the game , you can only get about half of the mounts that are in the marketplace by doing quests and the new ones there selling they dont put into the game so you will purchase them . Same with armor , weapons. (Appearance wise).

 WINGS also do  NOT let you fly (the qst ones) only fae can fly after completing there lvl 85 flying mount qst.(****Of course unless you buy these new ones.*****)

Dungeon maker now gives you tokens wich you can use to get GEAR in the marketplace now that is better then the gear you get from quests at the same level.

All this fluff talk is how it USED to be before the conversion , now there constantly adding gear, classes , etc.

You cant find any decent looking gear from questing anymore it all has to be bought minus a few here and there.

This last expansion was not even an expansion it was all features , no content.

You paid 50 bucks for a class, to be able to hire mercs, a tadeskill researcher, and to make dungeons .plus 50 aa.

These are things that should be included in a game free of charge as long as your paying a full sub wich i was .

Or at least came with the expansion with CONTENT!

I have fond memories of eq2 had a blast , made friends its was a good game , but after all this marketplace frenzy bullchit.

I had to say goodbye. For those of you who enjoy this model and support it , i hope you can find and have as much fun in the game as i did.

It is a good game just headed in a bad direction.  That i will not be a part of. Obviously its a good game or was because i played it for so long but that was then this is now.

I think, its 'ok' to have a way, to "fly arround" in Norrath. Like using a Pegasus, or a Griffin (or whatever Fits to Norrath). Thouse Wings, idk... i really Hope, Players will ignore thouse, cause the look ridiculous stupid and not fit into the World of Norrath.

He was right i was looking at a glider, leaper in the marketplace they have 200 percent flying speed.

Oops i made a mistake  i forgot im human but still the rest all holds true.

I dont need to research something ive been playing for years , i made an honest mistake and fixed it.

Its turning into a marketplace fiasco , when you log in you feel like your in honk kong in the backstreet alleys , just soooo much to buy and look at..

It was the life you could not have and the “GM” was only there if you had an issue, not to guide youor point you at the dragons, like in table top, but just to say “What!??...you fell….OUT OF Teleport….and took 10,000,000,000 damage…..and you can’t fine your body……OMW, I will help you.” (that was a true story, it happened to me)

 

We did not call them “toons” of “avatars” it was a  “character”,

The same as in table top gaming at the time, if anyone ever asked me for a new “TOON” sheet, was shore to be the “Orc plaything/playmate of the week” and that mistake would never happen again.

ALL the items that are in the store are to help you (meaning the players) with telling your “character” story, the world and lore are only there as a “backdrop”!!!

 

Sony was not just saying that it was “Their World” but it was Sony’s and the players "World” !!

We set the time we could play, Sony provides the toys, and everyone, for the most part understood and was happy.

But I digress,

 

The “dungeon creator” does give rewards that can be used by you character, but it is not as simple others are stating, as I suggested research is very helpful in understanding an MMORPG, if you do the research then you would/might not miss the information that is really needed.

 

Now for Information and FACT:

Mount (the new ones) speeds are being unified quested mounts in EQ2 are showing the SAME speeds as one of the market.

See the links I provide above, and read ALL the information:

“Along with the release of Leapers and Gliders, all ground mounts now travel at 130% or 135%. Leapers, Gliders, and Flyers remain slower. Leapers and Gliders travel at 60% ground speed and 200% air speed, while Flyers travel at 75% ground speed and 150% air speed.”

 

Now on to the wings:

There was a time when players of MMORPG used more of the “imagination”!

Remember, Norrath is just a backdrop to your character’s lift, much like you have a life you have your own things going on will not be involved in allot of the issues of the world of Earth (Earth is your backdrop).

 

The wings are FLUFF, a TOOL for “your” story.

Ever have one of those days, no matter what you do you character just can’t win, or keeps dying,

Well, buy that guy/or girl some wings (often a little guilty pleaser will change your hole mind set, this is also true in a game as well as life).

 

The vampire flock of bats not your style, well here are some bat/dragon/nightmare wings for you!

Its all just FLUFF for us, the players!!

It does not change your characters power level or make them “UBER” (well to you it might make them uber, but that is the way it should be, right,)

 

Allot of what I have posted, is or should be true for most if not all games, be it MMO, MMORPG, single player, or what have you.

And always remember:

 

If you’re at my gaming tabletop, It’s a “character”!!....lol…..oh I mean:  research!...research!… research!

If this fact deal was intended for me as you can see above i did edit my post to the FACTS that you point out and i never once say that that the mounts are faster in my edit. Im saying you cant get all of these mounts , armor etc from just questing!

 

Including the new wings that make you fly.

 

Like i said before i played the game for 5 years im not flaming the game im making a point of how the marketplace is taking over the game.

 

Instead of adding content or all these nice mounts armor and character uber looking fluff to the game world for us to find and gain as rewards , they just shove it in the marketplace to make an extra buck off there players.

 

I dont need to do research when ive been playing the damn game for 5 years i know it from first hand experience.

You CAN NOT go out into the world on your character and quest for them wings, for the pegasus mounts, heritage armor , wolf mounts, the overflowing crates of armor that look great .Shall i go on .

 

You have to purchase them . Nothing wrong with that not my money , i just got fed up when soe decided that the game comes second place when it comes to content now .Its all about the marketplace , shall we discuss item revamp? a lvl 90 item having 11 str for a fighter? etc etc , they cant fix that but can add things to the marketplace every other day LOL.

 

And charging people  50 bucks to have a beastlord, 50 aa and dungeon maker is just lame.

Its your game play it if ya want im just stating FACTS myself.

 

Anyway i said my opinion and you said yours im done with this thread.

 

If ya like the game play it if ya dont , then dont!

Dagon: Just so you know, my own Beastlord cost me no where near 50 dollars. I bought it using a15 dollar WalMart card and used the card during a double Sony Cash weekend. Budgeting your gameplay expenses can make all the difference.

Smart thinking ive heard of people doing that . Well glad people still like the game anyhow , enjoy it it has alot to offer.
