With neverwinter and the foundry comming up, i was just wondering how the only MMO that added a simmilar thing with its dungeoncreator did fair?  Just wondering how manypeople created their own dungeons, or played dungeons created by random people..  How is the quallity of the player generated content in EQ2?

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations)
Currently playing : The Elder Scrolls Online

Shows how long I've been away from EQ2 lol, I didn't even know they had a Dungeon Maker system in the game now. May have to go check it out.

I've done lots of them, but not built them.. just played them.

They are enjoyable but the creator doesn't seem as powerful as the foundry in NW. Lots of people have come up with some detailed dungeons though that must have taken an age to get perfect.

You can play them with a free account, so go try them yourself. You can't use your own character in them until you are high level or something.. but you get to choose from pre-made characters to use if that's the case.

Some were insanly hard and you get tokens for completing them which can be used for a variety of things.

As long as there is a story involved it could be fun to try them

Some had some story. Nothing that stands out in my memory though. What it lacked was layout variety.. you can't arrange rooms or anything, you just have some set dungeon layouts the choose from. There is probably a lot to choose from now. That doesn't mean they all look the same. The sheer amount of furniture and decorative items in EQ2 can make a million variations.

You're right though, it's about fun. The player made dungeons are not the game.. it's like fluff. You can still level up on them though, which is great for alts if normal questing bores you to tears..

They use to be a good way to earn xp and some marks for items from the DM store but a few months ago Sony nerfed the xp to oblivion so I quit running them.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!     This better not happen in NWO cause Iz wont be maken shiz. Really though, the player created stuff should be on par with everything else in the game xp wise. I hope its not as you say. Going to go check it out.

Sadly the whiners complained and was only a few of them about the way people could earn faster xp in the player made dungeons then in regular mission running and regular dungeons. So the minority of whiners started forum threads even though a majority of the posts in the threads were against the change Sony did it anyways.

you cant expect player made content to actually be better than devs , look at eq2 dungeon system where all the top dungeons all say fast run 200 tokens easy run etc. Those are voted top of the list in the game.  EQ2 was all about fast gear and experience and AA from their dungeon maker , nothing else just a power leveling gearing tool to level up on. Its been pretty much abandoned in eq2 now with no updates for it as it isnt even widely used anymore they claim. Face it , gamers if they can find a way to exploit a system for personal gain they will do it and a lot more than less will follow suite if given the chance. I wouldnt put to much into the foundry system in neverwinter unless crypitc puts tons of restrictions on that do not allow exploiting gear and leveling experience . But at the same time if you take it all away and make it unfulfilling no one will use it . Slippery slope for sure here.

Why not tell the whole truth about those dungeons and how much faster exp you could get? I think RawSushi (sp?) dungeon could be ran in 15 minutes. In 15 minutes, you gain enough xp for 10+ levels. So technically, you could go from level 20 to 50 in one hour. A lot of people used to turn that XP into AA XP so it was not uncommon to see a lowbie with 200+ AA. Shit, my level 27 SK had 170ish AA in about 2.5 hours of running that dungeon. You call this balanced and people who wanted to change this whiners? The nerf was well deserved and justified. The whole world was empty because people were either selling PL services or running through them.

Its kind of tough to balance them exp wise with all the factors to consider, especially the fact that they are scaling.

There are actually some pretty decent storytelling tools that can be used by the creative, sadly I dont think there are that many trying to make creative dungeons with story to them.

Overall its certainly a respectable effort by SoE, and the hope is that they expand on the concept for EQN.  this was signficantly better than SWG's quest designer.
