Hi, i play LOTRO, but still play one game is sometimes boring to me. I had a 3 months break, for not a lot of play time and i was little overplayed by this game since 1 year of play. Need to changing it with something other, to prevent me from stereotype. I must look for some older games, because nothing good game was released since LOTRO. May be now AoC, but it seems to be undeveloped and i think i do better if i will wait a few months with it... or not ??

The hotest candidate in my eyes is EQ2 with overloaded world and content, but my only fears are number of active player ingame. Is world still alive, or i will traveling trough the world alone ??

I dont want hundred of players in the zone, but i dont want to be only one breathing player in it.

Please, how its about that very good looking 4 years old game?

Thanks a lot for all of yours answers...

Now would be a great time to start, because i dont see the community getting any bigger than it already is.  I had an account about a year ago and stopped after about a week because my computer just couldnt take it and it was a pain starting the game up and chugging along through zones.  I have since gotten some new stuff for my PC and i heard about previous accounts getting 2 months free time.  I started that deal up in early summer and played about 3 weeks - a month and stopped just last week.

Its a decent game, believe me! I think if every MMO (ahem ahem WoW) had as much races and classes as Eq2 then those MMOs would be golden.  I think eq2 had more variety of races/classes at launch than WoW has now!  Now one downfal with the game that may turn you away is the community or lack of groups to get with.  Right off the bat i got in a friendly guild that was willing to help all its members, so thats a plus.  But zones feel dead, i had a hard time just finding a questing partner sometimes, so soloing i had to do.  I did find a few dungeon groups tho, so that was a plus.

The lack of people isnt too painful, though, as there is enough to play and have a good time, but we arent talking population Booms like World of Warcraft, or Age of Conan.  Another warning, capital cities like Qeynos do seem dead too, and if you start playing make a character in Timorous deep, the gear that is given out for quests there is extremely unbalanced and you will likely hold on to it for 10 lvls after you leave.

Yes, i tryed the game year ago on my old computer. Now on my new machine i tryed it one more and i can say this game is pretty good. But like you said, my only worries are about number of active players. Because i saw some places ingame looks empty.

My friends said, its because :

1. older game - not many new players in newbie zones, like in each other game.

2. a lot of places to play, or start - on higher lvl zones it looks better they said.

Game is great playable, i know... i tried it last 14 days on friends second account with free month of playtime.

Only problem i have in number of players, because i dont want to feel ingame like in singleplayer RPG.

haha its definitely not "dead" but there is a lack of players.  I picked the most populated "heavy load" server, although it is roleplaying, just so i could interact with more people.  You might want to try that as well, even tho you dont like RP because you really wont see much of it unless you actually look

I really don't get why people keep asking this question. You're interested in playing the game? Then play it. You'll be level 80 soon enough. And, if you want to group, play on Antonia Bayle server.

I must play on Runyeye, because im from europe. Sure i have a band of friends what have a guild. Sometimes a lot of them arent much time online, but 2 times a week they have raid days and they have still full raid group. So its one of pros.

And sorry if it looks like dumbass question, but i only wanted to know, how it realy looks ingame :)

Friends who want me ingame should lie to tempt me :D

Honey, you DON'T have to play on runnyeye. It doesn't matter if you're from Europe or not, you can still change your server.

Run the launcher. Before you click "accept", look at the top right corner. Choose (English, US) and you'll be playing on a US server.

1. If you're having a problem, ALWAYS check the EQ2 forums because someone has probably had the same problem and posted it.

2. Read everything that SOE has to show you. ALL the options in the loading screens, in the options menu, and everywhere else.

yeah i would reccomend runnyeye only if its heavy population, if not make your friends reroll on the heavy pop server or play on Antonia Bayle in USA servers.

Several servers has a good population, Najena as an example is the unofficial Pacific Server and has a good population, so if you are at Pacific time choose that. Several other servers are OK too.

And yes it is a very good time to start, and so not choose AB just because its the heaviest load. It also means there is not to much space and help if you are a true new player.
