One thing I particulary liked with EQ2 was the fact that it gave you those little goodies along with the game. When I ordered the compilation it had also a map inside and some in game goodies. It's a good example I think for other companies to follow since they usually just add a manual with anorexia and a couple cd's |

You know what, I would love to play this game but it is damn hard to get it :( Yes I also tried direct2drive all in one compilation but it says I can't complete de order because "Your order has been temporarily placed on hold, pending additional verification." Noone contacted me even I opened two tikets at their support page. I won't buy it from SOE page because I'll have to pay triple for the same and there are no stores in Spain with Echoes of Faydwer (box version with other expansions in it).
Anyway good informative post. Thanks. |

Ok I will admit I am an old cynic. But really the OP's post and another one he made here sure seem like a commercial to me. I guess this is "viral marketing". Oh yes before you start flaming me I do play EQ II. I have serveral characters on the AB server.

Originally posted by kb4blu It is marketing, but not from SOE. I am trying to get people to play EQ2 and to play on SOE games. Why? Because I play on them and the more players the more people to group with. And when I went to try other games I found really SOE games are pretty good. Most people moan or whine because of NGE and because SOE changed one thing or another. But yet every MMORPG changes, it's how it goes. Listen play SOE games or not. But EQ2 is here, it's got loads of fun things. The only reason it isn't bigger and have more players is because SOE doesn't market really. So I decided to do what I could. If you're enjoying a company and a game you want to tell people. I want to get out of the politics of being an armchair game designer and be an excited gamer who loves to immerse myself in the game universe. I think back when, before I started reading MMO forums gamers used to be excited and in awe of the wide open never ending world. I want to be again, and I want people to join in the fun!

EQ2 really does seem awsome, and I love the graphics. I bought and tried the game about 2 years ago, and I left only after a month becasue I couldnt run the game well enough. I've upped my ram since then, but I'm not sure howd It'd run nowadays. Could anyone help me out? Game really is appealing to me. My pcs specs are: 3.2 P4 processor 1.5G of ram Nvidia Geforce 5500 (I know its very old by todays standards but I dont have much money to put into my pc right now) One annoying thing for me was that the character models hair wouldnt load unless I was right up to them, so everyone was bald 95& of the time. Also, loads took 2+ minutes between zones which really slowed it down. |

Your computer is fine but you'll have an issue with such an old card. You can get a geforce 7600GT for only about $150 now, you know. Thats what mine cost. My website is closed temporarily. Hopefully it will only be a short delay. |

You definitely have a nice game here. However, that long list of things I am behind on is exactly why I won't play EQ2. I've tried to get into it after Kingdom and then once again after Fae, but both times I felt way behind on the power curve and my daily responsibilities doesn't allow for me to play catch up on what I've missed for the past few years. This is why I am playing LoTRO. I have a chance to start while the game is still new and there is still an abundance of players to group with at lower levels. Plus, I can grow with the game vs having to catch up with the game on top of the constant release of expansions and adventure packs that SOE releases. That's another thing that irks me about SOE, they nickel and dime you for every bit of content they put in the game. Turbine is know for giving free content upgrades. You may argue that EQ2 has a lot more to do in LoTRO, but you don't hear any LoTRO players complaining about a lack of things to do while leveling up. Anyhow, I wish I would have played this game from the start. Good luck to you guys and happy adventuring. MMORPG's w/ Max level characters: DAoC, SWG, & WoW Currently Playing: WAR |

JK, what are you talking about? We get free stuff constantly in EQ2. Less than two months ago, they litterally gave us all an entire expansion for free (Neriak). We get constant FREE upgrades and content.
I don't know what game you were playing but it definately isn't the EQ2 that I've been playing since it opened up. My website is closed temporarily. Hopefully it will only be a short delay. |

Originally posted by Moirae Hi Moirae, I haven't played EQ2 since the Fae expansion was released. I've never made it past one month each time I have subscribed, so if they do add free content, I haven't heard about it. However, I have heard and seen every single piece of content they have charged for. Regardless, I couldn't get into the game because of their overuse of instances and because there was so much I was behind on, that I would never experience everything and catch up to the majority of the community. I play games to experience everything and more importantly, to experience everything with a community. I found the earlier areas a little barren of players (except Fae). Whenever I would ask to group, just for fun, I would get told that I can solo that content and to do so. Maybe if they had some group quests that people actually were active in doing before level 10, I would have had a better time. Nice resource thread. You should, however, mention that the list of PvP title bonuses you linked (this one) is complete fiction and meant as a fun thread. The names of the titles are right, but there are NO special perks or whatsoever linked to those titles. They are just for showing off. |
