Irvine, Calif. - January 23, 2008-K2 Network (www.GamersFirst.net) a leading online game publisher, announced today that it has launched an expansion for its epic Age of Exploration MMORPG Sword of the New World: Granado Espada. The new expansion is entitled Manifest Destiny; a name that was proposed by the game's own community. The expansion offers five new characters, two new maps and five new zones as well as new events and additions to the game's item store.
In 2007, Sword of the New World: Granado Espada players were included in the process of naming the expansion and the Halian Family from the game's Orpesia World proposed the eventual winner: Manifest Destiny.
"We feel that this name perfectly encompasses all of the aspect of the expansion," said Philip Maurer, Associate Producer at K2 Network. "As Pioneers will be exploring further West in this expansion, claiming the new lands "Manifest Destiny" puts a real spin on the continuing storyline as the Crown and the Republic begin to lay claim to lands that seem to be occupied by other inhabitants. As the story moves westward it will become clear, that this land was put here by providence and it is up to the Pioneers, to take it."
New Characters
The expansion brings with it five new UPC (unique playable characters), with three of these characters immediately available on launch day: Soso, Angie and Viki.

Is this game racist against native peoples?
I'll still never get over this game's strange single-player RPG like mechanics where you collect characters that already have names and their appearance set in stone. What happens when two players that have the same character fight eachother? Ugh, bye bye immersion. What is it with asian game developers and this game design? I've seen it in several asian games already.
K2 is arguably one of the worst devs out there, avoid like the plague.
I don't think k2 is terrible and I'll point out that, like most "free" games, the money you spend in the cash shop is about the same or cheaper than the cost of a recurring online subscription to a pay-per-month game. The only cash shop items that significantly affect gameplay can be bought with in-game currency as well, so it's never necessary to actually spend money on this game. I myself have spent about $40 on this game, and the only advantage I have is that I look cooler than level 1 characters.
Also, as far as I know, there are no native peoples in SotNW. There are humanoid creatures, but nothing that could be seen as a representation of American Indians.
Anyhow, I started playing this game a few months ago and fell in love with its RPG qualities. This new expansion brings in some big improvements, as well as a few additions that were entirely unnecessary... but now is definitely the time to start playing if you want to try it. Faction wars have started and clans can finally battle each other!
K-2 is horrible on so many levels. IAH puts them to shame with cheaper cash shop, better CMs and of course IAH has Hrin, that right there is the clincher.
