I played up until max level and while I enjoyed my stay in AOC, I found the end game to be very lacking.  It basically just felt like a faction grind.  I tried some raiding, and what I did try was pretty awesome in terms of graphics and atmosphere, but I don't like doing the same thing over and over.

The graphics are great, the combat is different and was fun.  The game runs a lot better these days, perhaps due to refinements of their engine and the fact that I have a new gaming rig.

Nothing to lose but time if the first part of the game is f2p, but the island of Tortage isn't a very good sampling of the other 60+ levels.

Surprised that Ripper didn't even get a single Fatality into the video.  Thats always a really unique experience to have in an MMO, your first beheading. <3

This game is very linear, but the lore is so interesting and all the different classes are really fun to play.  When I was playing, this game was lovingly nicknamed Age of Healers because healers like Temple of Set were nasty, and I'm sure they still are to this day.  So if you normally hate playing healers, you might change your mind in this game.

Not only is the combat unique, but I thought the raids were really different as well.  One of the first ones you do requires everyone to be bunched up in a triangle-like shape and one person (rotating w/other people with the said "cure.") is responsible for curing the ENTIRE raid when the dragon uses his debuff.  TALK ABOUT PRESSURE! lol  I thought it was intense.

The problem with doing a first impression for Age of Conan is that the tutorial is the best part of the game.  If the entire game was like the tutorial, it would have been awesome.  But once you get out of there into the open world, it becomes the usual garbage MMO full of unbalanced, overpowered classes.  An unchecked PvP system and chalk full of "RPers" who are actually using the title as an excuse to cyber eachother.
