Yes, trials are open to everyone.

I tried using the EU key on my current account and it only gave me the option to create a new subscription. I couldn't add it to my existing subscription.

I think Famine misunderstood the question. Yes, anyone can create a new trial account, but what existing users wanted to know is if the code can be added to an existing account so their characters they have spent months on, can receive the new items. Which after testing doesn't look like you can. :(

That's a shame, the totem would of been very useful, kind of like a second PoA. I wonder how many slots the bag gives? I got a bag & mount with my preorder.

The totem actually drops ingame. My character got it last week.

I appreciate the offer a lot but,

as a former player:

  • Can I use the trial to reactivate my old account?
  • Get the items on my already exiting account?
  • And well... check the game with my actual characters?

I'm not really interested in grinding once again through Tortage.

I would like to see how the game has become with my existing characters.

I would love it too, but I think this is the long awaited Trials that have now been released.

It would be better for Funcom to wait with the Veteran Come-back offers till the re-itemization patch has gone live.

I just resubbed for a month back in February with my gf to check AoC out again. It has come a long way, client is very stable and good performance.

But we are waiting for the re-itemization patch before we will give AoC a serious go again.

Cheers

And DX10 is in (albeit still labeled "DX10 Test", so for those MMO inclined with a strong GPU - no reason to wait!)

It's labeled 'test' because it isn't fully functional yet, and still buggy as fuck for a lot of people, whether they have a system built by NASA or Joe's C64 chopshop..

Free gifts should always be made available to ALL customers, with pre-order/CE folks obviously getting a little extra. But giving awat free shite (no matter how inane) to lure in new suckers while the rest of us have been loyally sticking needles in our eyes for going on a year now... it's just taking the piss really.

It's not. After I asked the same question on the official boards yesterday, and got slapped around by the mods, official word is - yes, you've guessed it - "We are aware".

The next patch (1.05) will lead to a complete revamp of the RPG system and an entirely new system for gem crafting. It will also most probably bring the Tarantia Commons, and fill the last leveling gap in the game. It has been hinted that they want this to be in place before they run a winback programme for vets, which is a good idea in my opinion. It is expected that this patch will hit testlive server during the next week, but due to the immense changes it will do to the game, I don't expect to see it ready for live until may, at the earliest.

This isn't directed at you, Tjommis, but this "RPG system revamp" thing is starting to piss me off. I don't know where they managed to spin this name from, but stats and item revamps don't make a damn 'RPG system'. That's just a functioning game feature. Calling it a RPG System is just trying to hide the glaring bugs and holes in the whole thing, or that they're perhaps bending to the will of WoWers, and making a similar system.

Having a character sheet with numbers on it doesn't make D&D a RPG system.

RPG System is your character's whole progress. I.e. the way you progress through the game.

Character attributes, skills, stats all are part of this system. And is exactly what is being revamped with this patch.

So in an essence this is a "RPG system revamp", as the core mechanics of character progression are being overhauled.

Cheers

Yeah, I appreciate that. It's just where oppinions differ. To me, a RPG system is about giving roleplayers tools to play out roles, characters and stories with. Semantics I guess.

It took around 35 hours to download/install this game (EU client), it's undoubtly the slowest MMO download ever, for me. Speed was very unstable, often down to under 10 kb/s, and several times it just paused for long periods. There's nothing wrong with my internet connection, so that's not the problem. I almost gave up, but I'm glad I didn't, so that I finally got to try this game. And in this case, my "don't spend money on a MMO you haven't tried" policy, paid off. This game isn't worth spending neither time nor money on. Imo.

The starting area is one of the most boring experiences I've had in a long time. You play a solo game with a chat box for hours after hours. The night version of the zone is your "private instance", there's no possibility of meeting other players there. And that's where a long (main?) quest line is taking place. And doing quests during daytime (public) isn't better, questing in this area are all about running back and forth between NPCs, mostly repatedly between the same places, and in and out of instanced areas, with annoying load screens.

I played as a necromancer, I heard it was supposed to be both fun, and very efficient in combat against multiple enemies. Yeah right... Compared to other games, it's just a pet class with a few buffs and some "standard" spells with different names. Nothing new, nothing exciting. Even though it has good aoe spells, I found the class to be surprisingly weak. Especially considering the low lvls I played.

I played to lvl 12. That's where I gave up, during a blood swap quest in the volcano area.

Graphics are good in this game, no doubt. And I liked the music too. But it didn't feel like a MMO. I know this changes later, but going through this whole area up to lvl 20 (or so), and then repeat it whenever I want to lvl a new class - the thought of finishing this area only once became a turnoff, it's simply too boring for me.

I'm glad I got the chance to try this game, but frankly, even if it was F2P, the early PvE wouldn't manage to hold my attention. Not sure about the PvP part of this game, I heard you have to leave the first zone before you get any chance to try it. The installment didn't survive long enough for that on my PC.
