Game Director Craig Morrison updates us on the state of Age of Conan with this month's Letter from the Game Director. Much of the letter's subject matter centers around the oft talked about Veteran Rewards system. This time, we've got solid details on how the system works and what you can expect to earn for your loyalty.
The system will reward players with a certain amount of points per month that scales the longer the player has been subscribed. For example, for players who have been subscribed for one to five months they will earn six points per month, while on the opposite end of the spectrum, players who have been with the game for 18-23 months will earn 12 points per month.
A list of some of the items that will be available and their costs can be found below:
Convenience Items
Veterans Path - 10 points (reduces the cooldown on your Path of Asura and Path of Comrades)
Veterans Teleports - 12 points each – Separate teleport items that share a cooldown that can take you to The Fire Beacon, the Hunting Lodge, Khesshata City, Iron Tower, Prison Colony or The Lair)
Veterans Home Paths - 8 points each – Separate path items that return you to either Khemi, Old Taranatia or Conarch Village that share a cooldown, but are on a separate cooldown to the Totem of Origins
Basic Riding Training - 2 points
Basic Horse - 10 points
Advanced Riding Training - 35 points
Swift Mount - 110 points
Full Feat Respec - 5 points
Reset Feat Cost - 25 points
XP Potion - 2 points (stack of potions that increase xp rate for a given time)
Veteran ItemsStraw Man – 5 points (allows you to summon a straw man similar to the ones found in guild cities)
Veterans Boots – 8 points
Veterans Cape – 10 points
Veterans Bag – 10 points
Social ItemsSize potion – 2 points (potions that allow you to grow in size for a period)
Arm Enlarging potion (potions that make your character a little more buff)
Breast Enlarging potion (female only)
Fireworks – 2 points each
Companion: Casilida - (will summon Casilda to cheer you on just like she did on the beach when you started your Hyborian adventure!)
Pet: Hyena – (will summon a non combat Hyena pet)
Two of those rewards definitely stand out to me. One, the breast enlarging potion, which is just plain funny, and the other being the Casilda companion. From this writer's perspective, I'm not sure I would consider that annoying tramp a veteran reward! Some of you may disagree with me, however! I can't be the only one that found her terribly annoying, can I?

OK, so some of the "veteran rewards" are silly but, you know what? It's the tought that counts. :)
I have to applaud Mr. Morrison and FunCom for taking the time to offer these rewards as a small but significant "thank you" to the veteran AoC players who have continued their AoC subscription.
The Iron Tower sounds interesting as well. I just hope that this new group instance area is not "over the top" as are too many of the group quest areas, such as Black Castle, Cistern, etc. -- you know the ones I mean -- those areas with a ton of group quests that require one or two level 80's to come along and babysit you and your friends so we can actually finish it. I was so annoyed with those areas that I simply deleted all those group quests and moved on -- even with the level 80's "helping" us, they took too long, and when compared to say, the Villas, and yes even the solo quests, the XP and the rewards just were no fun and not worth the time or effort.
Bah, why did you have to use Rage of Bonan picture? Not that I'm complaining, but now I wanna download the video again.
PLEASE PLAY MY GAME...I'll be your friend :(
So with all the vast amounts of Conan related artwork, the best picture someone could come up with is from something called RAGE of BONAN- which I have to assume is a porn flick.
Being a Conan fan I looked at the image properties to see what that was from (as I did not recognize it). Not sure if this was intentional, if MMORPG meant it as humor, a slam, or just found and liked the still but come on:)
About the only things worth mentioning are the mounts and pets. Everything else, with the possible exception of the boots/cape/bag (no details on those yet) is junk.
I like the idea of a vet rewards program, but I'd have thought the rewards would have been, well, somewhat rewarding.
Time will tell. At this point it's not set in stone, so perhaps they'll put something in place that adds some real value to the program. Looking forward to seeing what they come up with as they flesh it out.
most of those vet rewards look like shit. i want the girl in the picture.
