That problem can be very easily deal with by having pvp rewards good for pvp and raid loot good for pve .But if all raid loot is much better than pvp reward and you have to forse raid in order to have a desent weapon for pvp then you will not mind if you grind a litle more for weapon you lost .Also raidding guilds arent so many so not anyone has a chance to have access to such weapon (if raid drops are better for everything) .

doubtful that AoC will do open looting. As much as I want a game with it again (o how i miss thee old UO) I just don't see it happening.

edit: as far as putting in perma death if you make open looting.. be careful what you ask for. Us hardcore pvpers might not mind that

I agree with the OP.

FFA pvp and looting corpse is part of the world of conan and because it is, it should be in the game... well so goes his argument for boobies.

I find it odd how some people want a FFA loot system. Yes, it adds a risk factor and many go as far as saying it is better because it is more real... Well just because it is more real doesn't make it a good future to have in a MMO. I personally spend a large amount of time in any game I enjoy. I would hate to invest much of my time to gear up a character to simply have it looted off of my corpse...

Simply put, having a seperate realm for those who enjoy this type of gameplay is the only way to go about implementing such a request. The down fall would be that the realm will have a disturbingly low population, since the idea behind it is undesirable for many players like me.

eq2 had a fix for ffa looting. certain percentage of the currency ya had on ya was taken. if ya had awesome gear equipped, it could not be taken. now on the other hand, if the gear was never equiped or "soul bound" to the player, there was a percentage that maybe that one item will drop.

my standing on FFA PvP. have it. set lvl limits such as having to be in so many lvls of the person ya attack. only take a percentage of the cash on hand of deceased character "for whats in the bank stays in the bank", items in inventory or in bag or whatever has percentage of drop except for items that have been "soul bound"

I am personally not a fan of open PVP.  However,  I believe it can be done well if it is based on good/evil allignment.  This makes only certain types of characters or classes attackable.  It also limits griefing to a certain extent in my opionion.

The fact that you cant attack me unprovoked in some areas of the game world does not mean you can't PvP all you want. There is room for both types of player in the game.... most people that throw around the word carebear just want to remove my option to play the way I want... although it generally does not affect their ability to play the way they want.

If you have played DAoC, you will know that they have open battlegrounds in that game... where you can gank unaffiliated noobs all day if you want to... but they also have areas for me to play in, where I can go about my business without worrying about you slitting my throat as I talk to a quest giver.

I dont see anything wrong with losing your gear in PVP situations. It makes people not want to bring the "UBER" items in pvp but rather the less expensive but more balanced items. Just like in EVE I dont fly around in my Raven with officer/faction gear (for you people with no EVE background its the best items in the game) if I knew im going PVPing but if Im just PVEing and I know there isnt much risk to lose those items then yes I would bring them along. I think it makes more of a balanced game. That way everyone is not running around with the "best items in the game" killing all the lesser equipt players and having no risk in losing them at all.

See, I kind of like the "luggables" system in MxO. For those who don't know, Luggables are objects that can be picked up in the world, that give you certain cool buffs and effects...but flag you for PvP. If you get killed, you drop the item, and someone else can pick it up. You can voluntarily drop the item in the world, and your flag will disappear after 5 minutes.

This gives you the ability to loot your dead opponant for the luggable object, and get something that you might actually want, and the dead player doesn't really NEED. If they want it back, they know where they can find it...lol.

Personally I think it's a brilliant solution to the lootable corpse problem, and actually makes it fun for all involved.
