This is extremely frustrating and the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. Let me explain.

Around 3 months ago, during the summer, I installed AoC at work so that I could play during some boring, quiet days. I played for a couple of weeks or something. My work IP is obviously different from the one at home.

Some time later Funcom banned my account because of suspisious behaviour. Probably sine I played from another IP adress than normal. So far so good.

Now to the problem:

For the last 3 weeks I have tried to get my account unbanned. Here is how it goes:

First i Contacted customer support to get them to unban me. After a week I contacted them again, then they responded with this:

Greetings,

Thank you for contacting Funcom Customer Support!

My apologies for the inconvenience with your account. The suspension was
an automatic security measure that was triggered due to suspicious IP
activity on the account. I would be more than happy to remove the
suspension for you, but I do have to verify ownership before I can. I
will gladly compensate you for any lost time.

Please provide me with a clear, color scan or digital photo of your
government issued photo ID (driver's license, passport, etc), as well as
the credit cards used on the account. For your security, please block
out the middle 8 numbers on each card. Only the first and last four
digits need to be showing for verification. Please do not send a blurry,
or black and white scan or photo, only color.

Please let me know if you have any questions and have a great day!

I sent a copy of my drivers license and copy of my visa card as requested. After this I haven't heard squat. Nothing is happening. I have sent several emails to them, asking them when my account is going to be unbanned.

Nothing....no sound....no email....no nothing.

So the conclusion is. Funcom does not want my money!

I give up. I'm going back to Rift while I wait for SWTOR

Can't blame you there. Pretty crappy. You'll get better CS out of Trion anyway and just over 2 months to SWTOR so no big deal.

Playing: Diablo 3, Tribes Ascend, Skyrim

Disappointed by open beta feedback: GW2
Waiting for: TSW

Let's be honest, the only people who are bothered by DRM are pirates. Companies have a right to protect their IP.

Fastest d/l I can get is 4.9 Mb/sec on a 40 mega bit/sec Brighthouse cable connection. Hate the way they advertise as MB/sec without saying that the "B" stands for bits not bytes. Thus your megabytes per second will always be 1/8th of that magical number they throw at you.

So.... where do you get your internet access from to get at least an 88 mega bit per second connection?

Damn man that sucks.  I actually left Rift & Trion because their customer service was so f'ing shitty.  A very similar thing happened to me.  I am in the military went out to sea after having killed greenscale on my warrior when the game first came out.  When I came back and found my account had been hacked by some gold sellers (just my f'ing luck) and banned. So I contacted customer service to have it unbanned.  It was unbanned but when I logged in I found litterally all my armor that I had earned doing the dungeons and raiding.  I opened a support ticket and told them I was missing stuff.  About a week later i got an email saying they had "restored my account"  however when I logged in none of my armor was there and they said they had no log files of me obtaining this armor.

So I provided screenshots that I had of the gear before I left, and took screenshots of my achievements showing I had killed all the stuff I said I killed to provide futher proof.  Well they said there was nothing they could do for me since they didnt have a log file of it.  Needless to say I canceled my account and am currently wrestling w/ Trion to get some sort of a refund since I payed for months in advance.

Needless to say I returned to Age of Conan because I felt like Trion screwed me big time.

I'm having the exact same issue as the OP, except that I never played from work, just accessed the forums. Customer Service ignores anything I tell them, they just want me to scan my credit card and ID and send it to them. I don't have a scanner so I would have to go to a cyber cafe (screw that).

Now after reading this post I'm convinced I won't be sending them anything if 3 weeks later that still has not unbanned your account.

Frank (aka Morguar) this is your Supervisor Mr. Maguilicutty. I need to see you in my office directly. The IT staff has noticed a spike in your Band width useage and we need to have a discussion about it.

Wow.. that's bad news.. Didnt know Funcom ban accounts for changing IP adresses. I tend to change IP's quite often, if my own inet is unstable or goes down then I have backup internets from my neighbours who use different providers.  I guess I need to break the habbit hmm.

I'm also playing Rift atm. So that's not a bad idea though.
