Yea i entered the game yesterday it had been awhile and checked out the marketplace after reading a few forums on here saying that it only sells gear for pvp or something of that nature.

Didn't look that way to me so i asked in global about the gear i had seen and had two players respond with "Yea you can buy social and regular gear from there and the gear thats not social lvl's up with you."

I was like wtf? the other guy told me that the (REGULAR) gear you buy for pve/pvp is just as good as any other gear except for the 6 man and raid gear.

Can someone please confirm this because id really like to play the game it doesnt lag for me and looks nice , and id like a change from eq2 after 3 years of it.

Any help would be great thanks!

Id really hate to lvl up a toon only to find out that i HAVE to raid to have better gear then whats for sale on the market.

I haven't had a character at max level yet. From what everyone says is that you will need to raid if you wish to progress beyond level 80 and it's suggested to subscribe to get the fullest experience from the game. I would check out the official forums to see what folk are saying there as well =)

Im basically just wondering about the cash shop gear if its better or equal to what you can find in the game without raiding , or 6 man.

The PvP gear in the cash shop is identical to the PvP set earned in game from PvP levels 1 - 5. The level 6 - 10 stuff isn't in the shop, and some token pieces are excluded as well.

Not sure about PvE or Raid Gear. I've only ever played AoC for the PvP, and I don't currently play so my information is only limited to what I know from when the game switched to Unchained.

The pve gear in the shop is as good as crafted 80 blues with gems. Both Khitai (dungeon / faction) and Tier gear is better. However, the gear from the shop is plenty good enough to get you into the beginning raids / Khitai dungeons.

So basically pay to win thanks ill be un installing now lol

To be honest, most level 80 players will have better gear than what is at the shop. The Khitai faction gear which is better for pve can be gotten in a couple of weeks. The shop only helps those that do not have the coin to buy the crafted stuff as far as pve goes. 

ok well thanks maybe ill give it a shot i just dont want people with big wallets to have an advantage if i have to work my ass off for the same gear..

The gear you can buy is very very basic. You can farm yourself a better set solo in about a week from Khitai factions.

Unfortunately for PvP, getting to Rank 5 will take you about a month and getting absolutely stomped on by just about everyone who already has PvP Rank 4+ gear. So its a bit of pay to win if you want a smooth transition into PvP.

Although you will still get smashed by PvP Rank 10 folks even with that gear. Its a very gear centric game.

Like this guy said its not really pay 2 win because the gear through the cash shop sucks big time. Its meant to be an avenue for players to start doing the 6 mans and basic raids. PvP gear from the shop is terrible with or without it you will pretty much get whooped.
