I picked up a 3 month subscription card for AOC about 7 weeks ago, for 10 bucks I have not logged on in about a month and I see that they have me down as free 2 play, . I am not free to play because I paid. then I was looking at the free 2 play and what they give you and that really made me laugh, OMG that is crap, compared to LOTRO they dont give you a thing. AOC you suck |

Did you register your sub. 3 month card? if not then yes AoC is F2P aswell with limitations, put in your sub-card and you get full acces for those 3 months. Not to sure why a person needs to laugh at something that is given for free, yes it has limitations, so does every other F2P game just like LotrO. And what they give you is the chance to play for free. Man today's generation wants it all for free judging by this topic. I do know that my old account is playable with classes that are normaly locked in F2P but since I already made them I could unlock them and continue with those classes in F2P. Not sure if you pay or use your time card now and create a none-F2P class that you can carry that over to the F2P version once your time is up. Perhaps someone has experiance with a new sub since Unchained and canceld it sub to continue with the locked class in F2P, ------------------------------------------------------------ |

Wasn't aware of a 90 day card though. There are fewer available these days because it is gaining a slightly better population and I guess the sellers know they can get a little more from them now. Still...every so often they surface. |

Originally posted by eddieg50 You weren't screwed by AOC, you were screwed by yourself. The news about AOC going F2P was out well before the day seven weeks ago that you purchased a 90 day card. So knowing that AOC was going F2P, you shouldn't have bought the card. I could see maybe if you bought it a year ago, but 7 weeks is not long enough to qualify for being screwed. Playing: Diablo 3, Tribes Ascend, Skyrim Disappointed by open beta feedback: GW2 Let's be honest, the only people who are bothered by DRM are pirates. Companies have a right to protect their IP. |

Originally posted by jpnole To the other poster , every once in a while you can pick up a cheap 60 or 90 day card , I think I bought this at target or best buy. I had not played AOC for awhicle so I did not know they were going f2p maybe that is why the card was so cheap? but at any rate I should be compensated especially since I was a founding member |

Originally posted by Paradigm68 I loved AOC when it first came out , I had no performance problems and Tortage was different than anything I have ever seen befor, but the balance PvP issues, and the poor implementation of after lvl 20 life along with terrible crafting . You went from total extacy from playing in Tortage to a total let down after |

I gota agree their free to play is crap, I mean at least lotro lets you play the content you paid for or pay to unlock it. AoC unlocks it for a number of days, or you can sub. sure you can unlock the pre 80 dungeons but end game your gona need to sub for. The whole thing was bs. I logged in and my server was gone, they had moved me to a new one, one I didn't want to be on or even like. I asked them about it they said to pay for a character move. I get moved over and then I have to sub just to do stuff in the game. Honestly I felt like funcom has no idea how to run a free to play game. The basic point of it all is unless your subing to funcom this game is worthless in free to play mode. All of khitai is locked and can't be perminatly unlocked. All of the dungeons are locked, you can unlock a few forever but your looking at about twenty bucks worth of points to do it. Lastly you have to watch them like a hawk, they will short you time if they can. They did it to me and to three other people. Combine that with an end game that is nothing but a time sink, and you have a pretty crappy model for a game. Why is end game a time sink you ask? Well to get the gear you either have to raid for relics, raid for crafting bits, or raid for gear. If your going for khitai gear, then you have to grind dailys for faction. Once you have faction you then have to get marks, trophies, and relics which you then spend on the gear. Which you need certain faction raitings to buy, and on top of which you still have to pay gold for. It's like funcom is saying look, we know you want endgame, here it is, all you have to do is keep paying us for a few months and you will have it. |

It will be interesting to see if they modify their model to allow you to permanently buy content that doesn't require a subscription.
I'm new to the game and will be leveling to 80 and then returning to LOTRO for the expac. After that I'll try EQx and probably GW2. This is really just a game to play while waiting for a better game. LVL 60 Barb__________________1550 Achievement Points |

Two things: 1) The quintessential nature of human beings is to blame everyone else apart from themselves when things go wrong. 2) With the advent of the Internet a medium has been provided for the human being to express themselves anonymously without come back. Conbine these two phenomena and you end up with posts like this. .... ... |

Originally posted by korvass Although what you are saying has nothing to do with my original thread, I will say this, one starting zone is pathetic, no crafting till like what lvl 40 is dumb and makeing your melee characters much weaker that your wizards and such is super dumb, NO money, they should pay me to play this crap |

Originally posted by korvass 4 out of 12 classes is not "minor". That's 66% of the classes you can't access. And how about bag space? What is it, 12 item slots for F2P accounts? You can't even pick up everything in the tutorial before your bag is full. And then, if I remember correctly, you have to pay 10€ per character in order to have normal bag space. |

I didn't know they made 3 month cards...I've only ever seen 2 month for $29.99 (and a couple of times on ebay for $14.99)...this is why you never buy gamecards off ebay...you might get away with it a coupleof times then you'll get one that is fake or used. So the money you spend evens out over time.
