For me...I went back looking for more then I had found in previous visits. I found no substantial changes I was interested in. FFA PVP...is new and something I would never do. Crafting...still being ignored...housing...nope.....and the "free"...well...yes and no. I think a more honest descpiption is a ftp "sampler" of the game. |

AoC is a great F2P game, cause it costs you nothing to play it. So if your only drawback is from a financial standpoint, have at it. If you're expecting AoC to rock your socks off, then no, you'll just waste 3-4 hours of your life waiting on the download only to play a broken game. Yes, AoC looks pretty, but the game flat out blows, almost as much as Funcom does. If you want a list of things wrong with the game, let me know, I'll post the official list. Some of which have existed since launch, 3 years ago. |

Well i'm two minds i really like the way Funcom made the combat into something more intuitive than, carpal tunnel spamming of the skill bar haveing had a let's get down with the kids type of epic fail !! in the first beta i was most suprised to find the game more stable and playable than even the tortage trial. What really annoys is the way they have practically got F2P by the short and curlies,ok i can manage 4 classes.50% less storage and so on.But the real kicker is the 2G limit which i never knew was in place until global chat mentioned it !!,yep they kept that one quite i was all for sticking some cash into this but my toon will be absolutely buggered as 2G is sod all in this game. So i keep wavering wether or not to go for premium as i can see no point in F2P with certain restrictions it's just a glorified trial, they might as well let you run around Tortage till 20 as before and let u try classes as u wish Lotro had a good F2P system hopefully Funcom see this as i want them to get some income as the Secret World looks rather good !!

The limitations on the classes available was something of a turn off. I was hoping to check out the new pvp server, but no assassin for me. |

It is not a bad game to play through leveling the first time now that it is free. If you are bored, or burned out with your current game, it is something to entertain you for a couple weeks. If you ever played AOC before, it isn´t worth playing again because nothing really has changed. If you are an ex-wow player and want to come back. Scroll of Rez gives 7 free days, boost a character to 80 a realm and faction change. Send me PM for an invite. Only 1 per day available |

I tried the AoC FFA PVP server (which is the worst thing ever imo and i play Darkfall, but you very well could play a non pvp server). Tortage was ok i suppose the instancing was rather annoying but no big deal it opens up to bigger areas after lvl 20 so not a game breaker in the least. But what i did find to be a problem was the fact i had to buy the dungeons. Wait, what? Thats not f2p thats Freemium. I kinda just gave up really after i couldnt run dungeons with my clan. The second most annoying thing was the fact that every quest after 20 was an errand to run back and forth between the 4-5 main areas. What in the fuck is up with all the run here talk to this guy quests in mmorpgs? Its a waste of fucking time i want to do something meaningful. On a positive note the game looks amazing and pvp is fun when you arent getting killed every 1 minute. The minigames are also fun, reminds me of WoW pvp battlegrounds. I couldnt really get past 26 after i found out i had to pay a sub to play the dungeons. In LotR i can grind some mobs to earn points to buy the next section of the game and im fine with that but f2p should be f2p right? |

Originally posted by daniel!!! Still bugged , has performance issues unless you have very good PC , memory leaks present, it is still small and limited world. Crafting is pointless, housing non existant. On top of all that you have item shops where you can buy everything armors , weapons ,etc included. + if you want to experience full game especially end game you still need to pay or sub. So if you want to experience full game you need to pay like before in p2p but you now have item store with everything , so it is worse than it was before. On + side there is more people now because it went F2P recently thou time will tell how many of them will leave once they "hit a wall" and have to pay. |

Heh , even if they'd PM2P as in Pay-Me-2-Play , I wouldn't bother. There comes a time when a Dev just got to admit that they screwed up big time and need to start all over and this time , ditch out the graphics abit for some actual gameplay worth playing for and some annoying bugs being fixed. This game should of shut down instead of Galaxies , oh well. |

I'd rather play a good game that cost me some money than a free one that sucks. WOW,eq2,Vanguard,WAR,LOTRO,AOC,Rift Aion, SWTOR etc. Currently subbed to TERA. |

I have to say the lack of housing and enjoyable crafting is a let down, and it's nothing different in the pve department, except it's a little more challenging soloing multiple mobs than your typical MMO. But I'm playing it for the pvp on the new server, so I'm enjoying it for that, even if my dpm (deaths per minute) reach ridiculous levels on White Sands! |

Originally posted by Sulaa If you adjust the graphic settings to your computer capacity you won´t have performance issues. To me world size is enough (and it will grow soon). Crafting is broke. I don't care about housing (what's the purpose?), but you have guild cities. The store doesn't sell PVE gear; it sells PVP gear that you can farm ingame and vanity gear, so you should be a little more careful in your comment here. It doesn't imbalance the game. The big issue are the f2p restrictions and the huge prices to get access to many dungeons and raids. This f2p is more a kind of a long trial.
Is there any point in playing? Yes. You can go free and try it. Good graphics, excellent melee combat, some gore, an interesting ambience. To me the big downside are the limitations to f2p access to some content and the big prices to lift them; let's see if Funcom does something about it. Shuting this game as someone sugested would be a big loss; this game has a lot of potential, is good enough to deserve a go and (thank God) it brings you to a different environment (I'm tired of playing the elves / orc / human / dwarf or "look-like but named different" fantasy). |

The game is good, but without AAs it is completely pointless playing the game like an MMO should be played, ie with others. As a single player experience it is alright to 80, but you're seriously weak compared to a subscriber's level 80 character that has AA as well. So raiding, dungeons and PvP become quite pointless. |

Is there any point to playing?... yes... to have some fun and/or kill time when you're burned of your current MMO / waiting for another MMO / don't have enough time to justify paying for a subscription MMO.. :) BTW, I'm in option 3 (work at day, university at night, wife and 7 months old baby the rest of the time), though I may be a little bit into option 2 since I'm considering getting Guild Wars 2 when it comes out. The game is still fun as well, I played at release, and while the bugs didn't bother me that much, it did bother my friends so they all left. That and the lack of content wall you hit late in the game back then was what killed it for me. So far having fun on my second time around. |

If you like to meet new people and make friends, then there probably is a point in playing. I suppose that isn't as exciting as it used to be though. Being able to play with people across the country and the world, that you probably never would have come into contact with otherwise, is so easy and common nowadays, it seems to have lost it's appeal. |
