Well, first my story: I decided to try this out when I heard it went F2P, probably with the masses, and am currently hanging out in Tortage, on my character Doldaegr on Wiccana.

After playing casually for a few days, I must say this game has sparked my interest. The gameplay is fun, the graphics are fair, the story is good compared to all the other games I tried out that I never quite found enthusiasm in... overall, very nice. Now to see if it maintains it... either way, AoC won it's spot as my secondary game, at the very least.

I would rate the graphics well above  "fair".   What kind of vidcard you using?

You have low standards...  This is NOT a good game, let alone "very" good game.  Once you get past level 20 the game is over, give it a month and you'll be done.

That is just partly true, the game do have some really nice dungeons as well, like Sanctum.

Questing loses much of it's charm pretty fast but after 35 doing dungeons are the fun thing, kept me going at the game for 9 months before I got tired of it.

Still the game is a bargain for the price.

You have weird standards and a weird way of telling others what to think, You might find the game not up to your standards ..but cant say to a otehr person if its a good or a bad game at all ,only give your own opinion.

To me the game IS good, its the same type of stuff every game does/has but whit a intresting combat style. Up to lvl 80 it remains a fairly fun mmo to play after that the real grind starts for "uber" gear and were I would sugest to drop the ball and find the next game to play.

Grapical perhaps only MO stand above AoC currently (tho just in scenery not in characters) the new to be MMO's are on pair/little better grapical .

the lore of the game and how most of the mission wave into it is well done and fun to learn/read the first time you go true the game. and whit the end game its exsactly the problem AoC always faced and never was or will be able to solve.

its all repeating..repeating..grind gind..repeating.  the AoC dev team never tried to add new gameplay to the game, look outside the box and think hey..we have useless player towns lets code in a system for real player homes.  plently of stuff to do /imagen for AoC but will never be as in less then a year from now thier engine/game will belong into the "old" outdated  section.

Well the graphics are more than fair probably superb.

I play the game everything cranked to the max dx10 on gtx 580 sli and the game graphics looks glorious.

It has the best graphics an mmo can have for the moment and the new patch made the  game more light and runs even smoother.

I was thinking of resubbing; I hear this game is not 64 bit friendly and I just got a new comp with windows 7. Anyone playing AOC on a 64 bit without trouble?

I play on 64 bit Windows 7 and it runs okay.  My system is mid-grade (i7-920, 9GB tri-channel, and a 1.8GB Nvidia GTX260).  I can run the system on highish settings in DX10 and get about 40fps.

I've had one crash to desktop when zoning, but other than that the game runs pretty good for me.  If you were a previous subscriber there has been some kind of odd bug where you can't delete one old character to create a new one unless you delete all your characters (it's on their forums), but I didn't have that problem.

AoC has come a long way since launch. I am glad you are liking it. I am also on Wiccana, so give Valorin a shout in game sometime.

Calm down...it's beta. These things are supposed to happen in beta.

If it contains the words video and game, it must be a WOW clone.

AOC's questing is the only form of questing I've been able to stomach in any MMO. Apart from the everyone is the chosen one bit, it was actually quite well written IMO, with voice-over or not. The world set up was also quite well done, as it's not randomly generated like most MMO's you can see the vision and skill that went into designing  each and every play-field.

AOC has a lot to like, the game-play is fun, especially from a melee perspective.

I remember Thunderous from a few years ago, I see his input hasn't changed nor the manner in which he offers it.

Well with all the chatter about the game recently I kinda thought it would be worth a try again since I had not played since a few months after launch like a lot of people.

After logging back in on the funcom site to be sure I still had the username and password right I noticed that my account had been banned on January of this year. I have not played since 2008 and checking on the payment history in case I had been hacked there have not been any payments made since I unsubbed back in 2008 so that looks fine. Needless to say this was unsettling.

In the notes it said I needed to contact customer service to get details on the ban. Since they have no number to call and only an email option I emailed right away. No response yet.

I would just go ahead and make another account but I have a lot of extras that I got when I first started playing like the mount bonuses, beta and collectors edition goodies.

I have to say this is not exactly a vote of confidence for me about the game. If they really want me or anyone else to start giving them money on a monthly basis for a service I think the least they should be doing is having a support number to call for issues of this nature. They used to have one as well as a live chat option, both of which I was not able to locate anymore on the site.

Thanks for the info. Maybe I should play the trial a bit before I resubb my toons I had since pre-release. I haven't seen those guys in a long time.

AOC is F2P now you can play those two toons for free.

Some of AoCs quests are really good, I loved that quest when you had to figure out who of 3 guys that was a thief by question them, intimidation or brains both worked. :)

Some other quests on the other hand lacked that quality, killing stuff in Conalls valley becomes boring rather fast.

My hope is that GW2s new way of question will improve things (but it is just a guess).

Still, AoC is the best F2P game out there now.

True wasn't a big fan of Conalls. My favorite quest was the one where you enter the mountain side entrance in the Stygian desert near where the Oracle is outside of that large temple. As I'm going down the hallway I'd catch what seemed like movement from the statues out of the corner of my eye, when I actually look at them they're lifeless, as I reach the end of the hallway they come to life and attack, the dead guy later inside the tomb was pretty hilarious as well.

most of the old subber post F2P model are not aware that the whole expansion in kitaih has been reworked and the grind is no longer there as such.also the performance in the kitaih areas has been upped by ten fold and not only look magicly amazing but runs very well to boot.

i loved it even before they reworked kitaih but this is just loads better

Thought you might want to know as a pre F2P player ;)
