I thought it'd be interesting to discuss what zones people favored or enjoyed when they leveled in AoC.
Here's a couple of mine: - Gateway of Khitai (L20-40): 1st area in the Khitai, you'll also have access to it when F2P - Ymir's Pass (L55-60): a great area to quest and level in, with a nice link to 1 of Howard's stories, The Frost Giant's Daughter. - Eiglophian Mountains (L50-60) and Atzel's Approach (L60-75): I loved the Cimmerian regions for the great atmosphere in them, also these zones have the most breathtaking background music I've heard in any MMORPG I've played. Those are excellent choices. Although I'm not too fond of Atzel's Approach. |

Noble Dist 41-43'ish is one of my favourites also Ymir's pass ofcourse and then Commons District at 75+. I personally dont like Khesetta or Atzel's approach that much.. Too many kill x quests and very little to look at.
There are some good quests in the main hubs at 20 too. My favourites are in Old tarantia, the prisoner interigation quest is good fun, as you have to read the quest text, and the tower climbing quest is one I do on all my alts. Quick and still fun after 10 times. |

Gateway to Khitai - This one simply because it's still quite new to me. I resubbed with a mate and rejoined another couple of friends from when we used to play perhaps 4 months ago and rolled a couple of fresh toons through there. It presents more of a challenge than the regular zones do and reminds me of first trying to quest in FoTD during beta, which as I was clueless at that point seemed quite difficult and required me to be aware. I'm not so enamoured with the 80 zones in Khitai thoguh as they just feel like one big grind and no decent visuals to compensate.
Field of the Dead - From the fighting over quest spots on my first play through to fighting over farming epic bosses as an 80 to just plain spontaneous GvG's in the middle of this mid level zone. This area was the first place where you couldn't fall asleep as a new player and continued to provide fun even after level cap.
Connals Valley - Simply for the view. When AoC was still shiny and the leader for MMO graphics this area was outstanding to look at, it still is. I used to take the paths along the edges of the map just so i could get to the higheest points and look back down again.
Atzels Approach - Even back when it had the plastic looking snow the area still felt like somewhere in winter, the sounds and the sights were all spot on (other than the UT type snow which they changed later). The recent TV show A Game of Thrones reminds me of the atmosphere there when watching it. Plus i was victim to my first 24 man raid full of level 20's to 40 gank squad there as an 80, i still smile at the cheers when i went down lol. Always keep your words soft and sweet, just in case you have to eat them. |

Wild Lands of Zelata and the adjoining Border Ranges are nice. You have the Ruins and Sactum in there, up in the mountains there is even more content. Wild Lands has always been a favorite of mine. "The Pen Is Mightier Than The Demo" |
