Xfire is in its first day after freemium an the number of xfire players has gone from 280 to more than 600 from a week ago. http://www.xfire.com/games/aoc/Age_of_Conan_Hyborian_Adventures/ It seem this will be a great game once again, with hugh number of players coming back. |

Because people are trying it, don't judge it from those numbers yet, from what i've heard it's not too special and the cash shop is awful. |

Yes, that is exactly what all these rehashed games/launches are banking on. It's actually quite a brilliant strategy as interest wanes so quickly with these games in today's market. I expect many games will start having annual relauches, reloaded, uncensored, next, whatever. |

There was quite a few people in the starting area last night on the Set server , but not as many as i expected. So honestly idk..funcom might wanna advertise a little better , and change up the CS a bit. Or this just might not do so well. |

The number of xfire player is 877 thats three times what they had before freemium. Sow it is going great and a hugh number of people is enjoying the game, sow come and join use. |

Everyone is trying it out now, it's a bit early to see what the numbers will stabilise to.
Still, I think it's safe to say that AoC has always been in the top 10 of P2P MMORPG's and also a game that can walk with pride among the existing AAA MMORPG's, there are a lot of AAA MMORPG's that are less than AoC is, imo. As a new addition to the (hybrid) F2P market, it's certainly one of the higher quality MMORPG's in that segment. One of the advantages of AoC Unchained in contrast to other hybrid F2P MMO's is that in AoC you can level to level cap and experience all the leveling content while playing F2P. I've always found the leveling experience in AoC an entertaining one, at least on my melee combat characters (caster classes were a lot less fun, at least regarding combat compared to the melee combat or revamped ranger class).
So, for the months ahead I think there are two trends to keep in mind: people that are trying it now, a number of them will grow weary and find out that AoC might not be the game for them to hold their attention for the long term. So this'll lead to a decrease in player numbers. And then you have the release of the hardcore PvP server with a more brutal ruleset, the Conan movie, and the new to be released areas of Turan that will be linked to the movie which I expect will generate additional attention from players who want it all to try out. It seems that AoC/FC concept artists worked together with the movie crew for the looks and visuals of the movie, and looking at the movie trailer, I have to say that in atmosphere and vibe I did get an AoC feel from it. 915players on xfire today, AoC has not been this high on xfire ranking in 2,5years(few months after lanch). |

But player populations are certainly a hell of a lot higher than they have been for a long while. Curious as I was, I measured 1500 concurrent players on Fury server late last evening and 2400+ concurrent players on Crom. Which is pretty good, considering that the average high population server in an MMORPG measures a PCU (peak concurrent users) of about 1250-1500. If I recall correctly, Rift servers at launch were capped at 2000 concurrent players per server, so that should give some measure of the current player activity on those AoC servers.

...dobbled, seriously? Anyways, for a free to p[lay i was expecting a lot more than that. It's FREE, come on. Other F2P get thousands of players at start and this is not starting out. |

Who cares how many returned and what the xfire numbers look like. The real thing I want to know is how many of these folks returned under free to play, and how many could not stand the restrictions who re subbed, or unlocked or whatever it was. The real question becomes this how much more money is funcom going to make and will it be sued to make the game better. |
