Expansion coming out early 2009.  Will contain much of the content that is lacking in game atm.   And probably second time ppl pay for the DX10.  Lets hope its in this time.

Wait let me get this straight, some of the features they promised in the release that were a no go are being implemented in an expansion, so people will have to pay for the expansion to get what they were supposed to get with the retail launch?

Yes they did. In the interview they mention things that they wanted to be in the game but couldnt get them done in time so they will more than likely  be in the expansion.

Its pretty obvious what is going on.  Lets look at it this way.

a)  FC have now 20 workers + creating a TOTALLY new content for the game.  At the same time the game is lacking alot of +55 content that is needed right now into the game. 

b)  FC now have 20 + workers getting the 55+ content and sieges and all the other issues in the endgame content ready for a new expansion.  In the meantime they are fixing up the huge bugs and balance problems that are all over the game at this point. 

Have you seen any new content added to the game past 2 months ?

Now let me tell you this.  I have played MMOs for a long time and small companies like FC usually go for the expansions instead of free content patches.  Who cares if the content is what should have been in the game at launch?  PPL were already fooled into buying it anway without that content.   You just wait and see in about 2 weeks time when the PR ppl from FC will come out talking about "We are adding so much new stuff into the game that we have to ship it out on a CD"!

THe scenario is obvious from a marketing point of view.  And thats the only thing FC cares aobut.  PC players will pay for the expansion and soon after the Xbox version will be coming with full content of orginal game and the expansion.    This is how FC can make the most money out of the game and agian - this is the ONLY thing they are trying to do.  IT has NOTHING to do with gamers.

We know you folks were thinking of expansion content before the game came out. When do you expect you'll be able to put the launch behind you and step up to the new content, enjoy the live game?

I don't think that's ever going to happen. We're gonna keep on going really strongly. Updating the game, patching it, making it better. The road map we have internally is long into the future. We're definitely going to be patching and improving. We're of course working on an expansion, though we're not really ready to talk about that now. We do think it will launch early next year, though. We'll start leaking more information about that soon, though.

I don't think that's ever going to happen. We're gonna keep on going really strongly. Updating the game, patching it, making it better. The road map we have internally is long into the future. We're definitely going to be patching and improving. We're of course working on an expansion, though we're not really ready to talk about that now. We do think it will launch early next year, though. We'll start leaking more information about that soon, though.

 

How naive are you ?  Where is the talk about patching the CONTENT into the current game ?  There is talk about things like Ymir's pass but you also might remember the talk about PVP system launching in june.  Get a clue on whats going on.   
 

Or maybe ask yourself.  Early 2009 is what ?... 8 monts away at most ?   How much NEW content you think they have now if the content they are ALREADY working on is falling 2-3 months behind schedual at this point ?  

How much CONTENT has been added to game from release ?  NONE whatsoever.  What is the priortiy of FC atm ?  Bugi fixing and balance.   And yet they talk about expansion... launching in 8 months. 

Again - get a clue about what the MMO buisness is about.  Milk money and give them as little as you possibly can.  Thats FC motto.

Considering they have not done anything else for the past 2 monhs and it still leaves us with trails of new bugs and new issues - I can be pretty save in saying this is all we will be getting.   Many of the core mecanic systems in the game are more broken now than what they were at launch.   And balance is none exixting.

Next 2-3 patches will have almost zero issues resolved.  They will just be put in for show.  And yes.  Thats one more month gone.

And one more thing.  THe PI team is now talking about 2 groups of devs working on diffrent things.  Really?  How about they get their 10000% effor t into fixing the CURRENT game before even putting one single person of their team working on future parts?  Havn't they screwed enough ppl  already with the crap launch they had ?   Really  - its so freaking obvious what is going on?

Early next year, i think its still too early to justified for an expansion. Hope they dont go own the road of soe, with so much expansion for eq and eq2....

Rabid zealotry? I would say I am pretty open to most of the games which are discussed here, since every game has at least something which is worth a look.

If you can say only negative things about AoC, maybe you should think about who the Zealot really is?
