I lasted all of 30 minutes...maybe. LOL! I couldn't do it. AoC's combat has totally ruined my gaming experience! Vanguards combat is so slow...and it is so...predictable...I was like - NO!!!! I remember it being faster...more exciting...I could have swore it was more exciting. No...it is the fact that I have gotten use to AoC's combat system. I was looking for a healing potion, and my snares...and then hitting my combos! When I was attacked in game(Vanguard just a few minutes ago) by two MoB's I was like OK..."piece of cake." Snare one...back up....take the one out then go back to the snared one. Wait...where is my snare! LOL! I was like OK...calm down just melee them. Hit my first attack and she pulls two swords.. Wait where is her shield! LOL! This was not going good. I was sitting there mushing keys having her fight two MoB's and she is only doing damge to one. I was like. OMG...she should be doing damge to both! She is going to die. :( Luckily I remembered my ranger has her own heals. So she managed to survive...but barely. I was like. Can't do this. I want my AoC combat back! Why can't we have the smooth animations and have my ranger from AoC in Vangaurd. She kicks butt! LOL! Oh well...some day when Funcom gets AoC fixed I'll play again. As for Vanguard...I will be removing it from my HD. I cannot ever go back. AoC ruined it for me. Thanks the frak alot Funcom! Fix AoC so I have something to play! Do it fast! I'll be a sad gamer girl if Funcom doesn't pull their proverbial heads from their nether regions and make AoC a fun game to play instead of making it a second job and having to deal with all the BS and broken stuff because I miss AoC's combat. ::sigh:: I hope BF2 can keep me happy for a while. Please...please....please Funcom - fix your game. |

Not sure what Elsa's post has to do with anything, but thank you for posting something honest on Vanguard. I fear a lot of players are going to be looking for something after AoC and blow their money on Vanguard to find out it isn't for them either. |

Right now nothing else is going to look or feel as good but give yourself time. Soon youll be able to realize that the feeling AoC gave you was just a buz from the "new" of it all. You had valid reasons you left it, remember those. You liked Vanguard remember the freedom, the beauty, the adventures you wrote about... give yourself time. ease back in soon the twitches from post AoC addiction will subside and youll feel better about MMOs and yourself. {HUG} |

Originally posted by Elsabolts Ah I see what you're saying. I was confused because Teala posted about leaving a few days ago. I know Vanguard is pretty good, but I would be weary for players thinking it has done a 180 and is doing amazing now. I just think the trial will speak for itself and hopefully they get the new models in for the free trial as well. I feel like rushing everyone to Vanguard now might be too early. |

Very true. It got me back into EQ2 for a little while, but the low population on my server drove me away. I really hope that the free trial, new models, and further updates coming soon will be enough to get Vanguard in the spotlight and breathe some light into it because it has the potential to be a very cool game. |

i recently tried vanguard...and frankly i miss the old style combat. AoC felt so consol-ish to me. The only thing i hope for is better combat animations and character movement in GU6..and I could be a very happy camper....the depth and complexity between aoc and vg is astounding. I miss the complex mmos more than the fast combat.
Between eve and vg i think i found a happy combo right now :) |

I have been watching these boards for the last 2 weeks pluss and most of the comments made on Vanguard have been positive these folks here cut no one any slack. So thats why i think maybe the game has turned the connor and is heading back upward. |

I liked AoC's combat for being different, and i'm excited about Spellborn's system for it's uniqueness too. Anything to keep games from having the ability to have something like healbot for WoW where you can spend 4 hours in a raid clicking different mouse buttons while looking at a UI screen with healthbars. The very ability to do this in a game will turn me away. If someone told me Vanguard had macro/UI scripting so that my classes entire job could perform the best by using them, and it only took a few clicks here and there then I would cancel and uninstall. I just can't have that mindlessness ever again. |

if you read my post, my biggest plus with vanguard is not the combat, but the complexity. There's so much stuff you can do, and so little hand holding. That's what i like. It's very non linear, with a ton of different things you can do at any given time. Explore seemless worlds with great graphics, diplomacy, crafting, harvesting, getting grafts for my abomination (necro), etc. AoC didn't have that old school, complex, mmo feel to it. Like stated, it definitely felt like a consol game. I could live with slow combat if the rest of the game is a challenge. Like eve, many state it's too slow for their tastes. but the intricacies throughout the game and sheer terror you get from flying to some areas keeps me entertained immensely. |
