How goes Cimmeria ? Still waves of gankfest or has it cleaned up ? Anyone enforcing / reminding players that Cimmeria is a RP server ?

like I said, this was a major study conducted by some University.  Your wife and friends are the minority. It is well established that the majority of gamers are men. And those men sometimes like to play female avatars (which probably merits a study on why, eww)

Oh and fyi, Im not in early access so Im not the one reporting the gankfests and massive nudity seen around

Last I looked, no change on Cimmeria - at least not in the server description tags (still listed just as PVP)

Wiccana - still good, great OOC (had a blast with wife and I earlier with new characters) - Won't really see much RP to speak of for the next few days - most people are still learning and trying new characters.

This game is very different from many others, no clear "winner" for class/race combos - everyone is having to do trial and error and see what they like and don't like.

Even one of my friends who "always" plays a warrior is enjoying some of the "non-warrior" classes (even a demonologist!!)

And no, sadly i would avoid Wicanna, most do not know its a RP server, and there are a lot of those Goon guys from Somethingawful.com on that server, and i mean LOTS of them :s

You've got to be kidding me.  I'm playing in Cimmeria..hardly took a break to sleep.  I've seen 1 topless woman for about 2 minutes yesterday and haven't been ganked even 1 time.

How is Set anyway?   I know the community wanted to vote that the "Unofficial PVE-PVP" server.  Basically for people who enjoy PvP but not FFA

I play on Cimmeria and to be honest, the community so far is pretty nice.  Theres a huge group of gankers running around in a guild called "Murder Herd".  Theyve pretty much made themselves KOS so theyre going to be forced to group.  Not to mention the fact that many of their members have been reported for numerous acts of grief which, believe it or not is against TOS.

I thought Murder Herd might be a problem. The RP rules would not allow their 'background' if they were an individual. I would conntact the GM's about banning the guild, if their follow their guild ethos there are playing a mindless killer.

Also believe all the studies you want, if you want to beleive 40% of the people on MMOs are women, then do so. Are 40% of the gamers you know in RL women? Are 40% of the gamers you hear on chat software women?

Studies always have an agenda, but believe then if you want.

Hehe well, you can call Nielson a biased opinion if you want... I wouldn't go there, but you're right a lot of studies are biased.  I like marketing studies because they ARE biased, they want to know so they know who to sell to.... 

The server I played WoW on, absolutely DOES have at least 40% female population.  I've spoken to enough to know.   I know whole guilds of women, mostly over 30 years old, some married, some with boyfriends, some single.  I was in a raid last week where I was the -only- male character, and we were shocked when ONE of the female characters turned out to be a guy IRL.  LOL.

Big mess they have on their hands , Funcom.....

In fact in comming months they will find out , there is apsolutely no way to enforce RP on FFA-PVP server.

If in fact they ever even planed to.

The game has massive potential for wicked RP so I hope the game community will be excellent for it.  Do let us know what it's like :) when you can.  Although I'm sure people will be too busy in the begining for a while just learning the game and leveling a bit.

My highest char is still in Tortage.

I haven't seen any community (including RP) since I started playing.

Loving the game, hoping to finally see the community building once I'm in the real game world and out of this 20 level starter area lol.

on cimmeria i haven't seen much RP yet, and i've come across quite a few with retarded names--like freaknasty and similar, i'm assuming that's partly because cimmeria was mislabeled and wasn't flagged RP at the start of early access. i'm sure there'll be a lot more RP going on once people are a bit more comfortable with the game and are no longer just scrambling to level quickly.

edit: oh yes and i haven't seen any female characters running around topless

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight... if anything, nipples are the "Night Elves" of AoC.  Are there mailboxes, and can you jump on them? Because in all honesty, I think deep down Im going to be somewhat disappointed if I dont see topless mailbox dancers once I get the game. hehe

My thoughts on the RP servers: Has it occured to anyone yet that the reason theres so much RP-griefing is because of the maturity level of this game? Im not talking about the esrb rating. Of course it could take a while for all the Goons and naked-gankers to get their fix and find out that RP-griefing isnt going to be as easy as they thought it was going to be.

I imagine most RPers are gonna do RP in whispers and party/guild chat.
