Please and I mean please, do not post links unless you have fully read what the link shows, if you read the linked document you will see this made by Funcom:

" The early access program is only available with certain retailers. A participant list can be found on the official Age of Conan websites. The early access is entirely voluntary, and opens up on the 17th of May for Oceanic and North American gamers, and on the 20th of May for European gamers. Pre-loading of the client will commence in advance. You need to pay a nominal 5 USD / EUR fee to take advantage of the offer, which includes client download and 10 days of subscription. When the early access offer expires you must enter the physical retail box gamekey to continue playing."

"within certain retailers"

please read carefully before you just start posting.  Just because you bought your games in smaller companies that does not give you the rights to come on here and bash the companies.

No, you did not understand. Of course we know that only certain retailers are offering the preorders.

We HAVE purchased from retailers who offered preorders.

Read this thread again, everything is there: AoC publisher confirms early access for all preorders

Clench all you want, it''s still going in.

and of course the haters, doomsayers, shills, and fanbois of other games will do all in their power to blow things out of proportion and twist things to meet their own agenda.

The fact remains: Limited availability was CLEARLY stated on the Funcom page that you went to in order to sign up for early access. You can't read, it's your own damn fault.

And before anyone even says it, no, I didn't get early access either, because I procrastinated. No one's fault but my own.

Yes, Funcom has been flat out lying to customers.

They have said in their newsletter #15 that every one who preorders gets early access. They have also conirmed this in a press release:

www.funcom.com/wsp/funcom/frontend.cgi

Even the game PUBLISHER Eidos has confirmed to many retailers that all of the preorder keys have early access, this was just 2 days ago:

www.amazon.co.uk/gp/forum/cd/discussion.html/ref=cm_cd_et_md_pl

Nice marketing scam to sell more preorders.

Funcom is a screwy company. And the fanbois are as usually supporting this, of course they are happy with their keys.

I'm glad someone produced something solid on this matter.  I was on the fence with this issue until JUST now.  This is just downright shady, and indicative of something being amiss in-so-far as their server stability is concerned once the masses hit the scene.

Yup. Let the lemmings all dive off their cliff into the pile of crap that has been shoveled by the Funcom marketing team. I can't wait for all the fireworks that will continue to go off throughout this weekend and next week. PR can only go so far to cover up their shoddy business practices. GO GO supporters of companies that can't even honor their claims about pre-order benefits. Spin some more fanbois!

Actually the are honoring the pre-order benefits. This is what you and all the other people don't understand. The pre-order is being honored - it was a few items/mount and to reserve a copy of the game. The early access was something completely independent of the pre-order and required another step to go online and purchase it. Unless you purchased the early access and didn't get in, then you have nothing to stand on.

Thousands upon thousands of people were smart enough to understand it and make it work. I am sorry a handful (on these forums I count 5-10) of morons failed to comprehend the process and how it works. It is not a shoddy business practice - no guarantees of early access were given or made and nobody paid for it
unless you registered at Funcom's site. Simple as that.

not to be a jerk or be rude, but  /agree with templarge.

So you have to preorder the game under the guise that you will get early access only to be denied when you go to register? That makes sense. Yea this car can fly, go ahead and pre order it, too bad you didnt register in time after you preordered it cause yours cannot fly.

Preorders were guaranteed nothing but a copy of the game, whatever in-game item was offered by the specific retailer, and an OPTION to pay an EXTRA $5 for an early access key.

That key needed to be purchased within a certain time frame, since as the site clearly stated "Supply is limited".

You were given a chance. You blew it. Your fault.

Your argument is stupid and moronic.  A pre-order and a car are completely different. When I pre-ordered the game, I understood that I was not guaranteed anything. Pre-ordering is a risk and with it comes risks. Its just like any purchase that you can make especially dealing with computers/software. Again if it was such a scam or so confusing why did thousands understand it and only a few not?

No it was not. Go to register.ageofconan.com and show me where it is said. It isn't even said inside after you register.

This is not the truth. This is WRONG AND MISLEADING information.

Go read what was said above and get yourself informed before posing bland bullshit.

dude give it up, it states clearly on the box that every pre-order had a key that gave a chance to get in to early access, it did not state anywhere that they were garraunteed a place in EA.  It even says right on the box for the preorder from best buy while supplies last.  enough whining, you didnt get in.  read the fine print next time and get in early like everyone else.  This constant whining by 5 year olds has destroyed the AOC main forums the last few days.

just give it up, you didnt get in, if you are really angry about it return your preorder or dont buy the game, boom, problem solved.  Chances are if people knew who your ingame character was after reading this they wouldnt want to play with you anyways.

QQ ladies.

It was an independent step. In other words, you have to pay additional dollars/euros for the early access. Even the press release says that. It means it was AN INDEPENDENT TRANSACTION. You are charged separately for it. So when you signed-up for the charge (that the press release clearly states will happen), it makes it independent of the pre-order. The pre-order gives you the chance to do it. That is all.
