You heard it here first... Quarter 4 financials and within two weeks of release of the Q4 financials, another delay to November 2008. Sorry, but 2009 will be the year of AoC. Consolidation of yet more classes and still no major crafter update that we were promised... /sigh
Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware "Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product." |

That would be odd for them to release the box art and announce a March 25 date only to delay it a week later. But I guess anythings possible. I'll be looking for an 'official' delay .

I highly doubt we will see another delay....for good or for bad. As far as I'm aware, the deal with the publisher is signed and sealed making it a firm date.
So, no more delays....of course, that doesn't mean we won't see more cuts, but here's to hoping. ^_^ |

I’m expecting no further delays, since an exact date has been announced. |

Uhhhh.... all i can say is wow. it is amazing of how ignorant some people are. There is currently an AoC developer held meeting with the press going on at Funcom's office in Oslo, Norway. Once it is finished, there will certainly be tons of information posted on crafting, classes, etc. |

My guess is, rather than delaying again, they're going to gut a fair amount of content/features. Bad idea but whatever, I'm not a developer, I just waste my money on these games.. |

Originally posted by Selencia I would rather see that than a delay. I think they need to get into the market not only to start making money but there is a void in MMORPGs right now that they can fill. |

Not such a bad idea. The content/features being "gutted" are exactly those features that either only looked good on paper or that need months rather than weeks to develop. I work as a project manager and I can tell you that there is a saying amongst my fellow practitioners: "A project is done when you decide its done.". MMORPG games are never really done. Look at games released years ago such as EQ2 and WOW. The devs always add more and more features. The most important thing is to have a fun and STABLE core game for a smooth release. If you have that, people will play it. After release, with hopefully hundreds thousands playing the game, the devs will have a steady budget that will allows them to add more and more features, using the community's feedback to guide them. Lets hope AoC is a fun to play game at its core and then lets wish Funcom a smooth release. --------------------------------------------------------- |

Originally posted by urbanmonkeyA smooth release will be one key factor in AoC success. FC cant afford another mess at launch. I may try AoC (I had been planning on it though not as hyped for it as another soon to be released title which I wont name, because I dont want to derail the topic). As a matter of fact if my laptop can handle AoC on lowest settings I probably will try it at least till the other un-named title is released. Even if they gut some features out, releasing on time with a smooth launch could REALLY help AoC prosper over other unreleased titles. Why? Its simple really. The MMO community is desperate for something new and fun. If AoC is fun and feels new enough with a smooth launch thoes of us that are looking at other titles may just stick with AoC rather than dropping more $$$ on a newly released MMO. Sure some will leave to try other titles but many will think "Hey I already bought this game. I am having a blast and things just look to get better. Why do I need to drop another $50 to try that game when I am having fun here?" So again, with a smooth launch gutted or not this could be what makes AoC the leading subscribing MMO (other than maybe WoW but who knows). Lets face it. Most of us want a new and fun MMO to play. We could care less about the IP. If I am having fun I am less likely to meander to another title. Releaseing the game in Q1 instead of late Q2 early Q3 is a smart move on Funcoms part assuming they pull it off. Less compitition in Q1 than there will be in Q2/3. |

I'm hoping Feb brings an end to the NDA and more people who've been playing it get a chance to talk about how the game "really" is.
