Age of Conan is set to have a M rating at release, do you really think this will keep the kids at bay. I don't believe a M rating is going to stop kids from playing this game and ruining it for the rest of us. Some parents could care less on what there kids are playing. My uncle let his 8 year old play all of the gta games,he even new how to get the hooker in the car. Now i know not all parents are as neglectful as my uncle, so not all parents will be buying this for there kids. I'm just saying i expect to see the ever so immature player ruining my AOC experience. What are your guys thoughts?

There will be immature people that play any game & seemingly mature people that act immature when behind a keyboard.

It's going to happen.. it doesn't matter that AoC has a M rating, it could have a E rating and the same amount of immature people would be playing it.

This topic has been discussed many times before. Here's a thread just a few days old about the same thing: http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/153353

<insert witty, macho geek blather here>

Yes, if you rate it, they will come.  In droves.  Whether we want them to or not.  Even if it wasn't rated M, they will come.  In droves.  Whether we want them to or not.  Such is the state of the MMO fanbase these days.  When the whiteheads lament about 'the good ol days', now i know how they feel . . .

Well let's see...porn is x rated and the x rating doesn't keep children from looking at porn, so no, I don't think an M rating will be effective at keeping children from playing the game.  Ratings do not keep kids away from inappropriate material, but good parenting might.

But really, cartoon boobies are the least concern of young children today.  Many children in america are living in poverty, are subjected to a poor quality educational system, are living in single parent families, are dealing with alchohol and drug addiction or a parent with alchohol or drug addiction, are dealing with the ever increasing violence, etc.

Why people single out boobies as a corrupting force of youth today instead of focusing on the real issues is puzzling.  Maybe it's just easier.

No, the "M" rating won't keep the kids away.

What it does do is protect Funcom from lawsuits from Mommy Dipshit who doesn't keep track of what her little hellspawn does, and then gets upset whan she walks in to find him ogling naked pixels in AoC.

It also allows the adults to report any obnoxious little brat who is stupid enough to say how old he/she is so they can automatically be banned for being underage without having to give any money back because Mommy Dipshit or Daddy Ignorant paid for it.

So, it works for me.

Goozex.com Try it, you'll like it.

Don't have sigs with a cheerleaders butt swinging in it, or the prudes in the Age of Conan forum section of mmorpg.com will demand the mods have it removed.

No, the M rating will not keep the kids out, i dont even think it is supposed to.

But even if it did, what would keep out all the incredibly immature "Adults" out. Not everyone acting like an ass in game is a kid, i knew plenty of kids back in early EQ that played very mature, and plenty of adults that did not.

Fanboi is not a word, it is just bad grammar.

I fail to see how having an M rating automatically means that "kids" will log in and act like total goofballs.

E Unum, Pluribus

Is it possible for people to stop making threads like this?

And no, the M rating probably won't keep the 'kids' at bay. But neither will a 'T' rating. Or an 'E' rating. Look at the maturity of the WoW community.

If you're worried about the kids, find a good guild, turn off general chat, make liberal use of the 'Block/Ignore' feature, and stop whining. Please.

That what I'm going to be doing ;)
