Wrath of the CowBell King

I think the most important question is. . .who are the women that play in Conan?  ;)

I hope it does turn out to be a good film though, I'll probably see it.

I intend to live forever -- So far so good!

I was thinking that maybe they can get that dood that played Sabertooth in X-men (Tyler Mane) to do it.  I'm just throwing this out as a random suggestion.  I wanna see where it goes.

<insert witty, macho geek blather here>

Okay first off, anyone who thinks The Rock or Vin Diesel are good choices to play Conan, needs to gargle broken glass and be forever silenced, as well as castrated to avoid infecting the future with potential like-minded progency.  I don't care if you're only 13, and think those two talentless doucheheads are 'so awesome'.

As a cult figure, i agree that Conan should be played by an unknown or near-unknown actor.  Preferably one who has the right accent for the job.  He needn't be a hulking hunka man either.  When the 300 pounds of "i'll be back" made the first movie, he had trouble performing the swordsmanship maneuvers because he was so big.  True story.

So yes on the obscure actor, yes on the accent, and yes on the 'slightly less than the Mr. Universe build'.  As for the Rock and Triple X, the 4 minutes i spent reading those posts is time i'll never get back

We are recruiting.

^^ LOL I know how you feel. Kids today haven't got a clue what a REAL 'action flick' actor is. ;)

But yea, IMHO, Vladimir Kulich is the clear choice.

That and I do hope this time around they stick with some of the original stories more then the comics. While the first Arnold Conan movie was good, even it didn't follow the lore all that well, and was more based on the late 70's comics then the classic stories.

Have you ever seen a Frazetta painting of Conan? Have you ever READ any of the orginal Conan stories where REH describes Conan build, or where is preforming feats of strength?

If you have, you might re-think your comment. All the paintings show Conan (and the written) as a riped, huge man. Go take a look..alot of pics on the net of Franks work.

After all is said and done, a lot more will be said than done.

You can see some of Frazetta's work here - including some Conan

First of all, never mix Frazetta with the original stories. Frazetta drew for comic books stories, not REH. Secondly, REH only discribed Conan in loose terms in his stories, like huge, tall etc. actually he did state that he had hairy chest, something Frazetta lack in his drawings

I know i have read somewhere that REH said his crusader character named Cormac and conan were almost identical in size, and we know Cormac was around 6'2" and 200 lbs

Wouldn't that make Conan somewhat lanky?

At least those drawings give you a good idea of what the Conan world looks like or should look like IMO.  I hope AoC turns out to be as gritty as that was.

This is REH's discription of Cormac: "Cormac FitzGeoffrey was a fraction of an inch above six feet, but with his mighty shoulders and two hundred pounds of iron muscle, he seemed shorter."

We talking 200 pounds of muscle, not 200 pounds of burgers. no, lanky doesnt come to mind when i read that discription. The mucles Conan have on different drawings from the comic artists cant be reached without a proper diet and pumping "air" into the mucles 5-6 days a week. Here, where i live, we have maybe Norway's best weightlifting club and my friend is a former nordic champion in his weightclass. He is big, but not bodybuilder/wrestler big. you can see his muscles are massive, but he is not bulky. To bad he walks like a duck (because of the weightlifting) or else i could ask him to play Conan

To Wow4lifer, I have no clue what you are trying to say with your two pictures?

That guy int he picture weighs around 180 and he's 5'9". BMI wise he's the closest thing to your description.
