Time spent, forever entwined. Time lost, happiness gone. - To Elana

I still remember $9.99 a month. Anyone I would mention that I was paying $9.99 a month for a game would look at me crazy. Then it went up to 12-13 and finally $15 was the avg. It went from people not wanting to pay at all and saying they would never pay monthly to play a game to people the masses (WoW) gladly handing over $15. I play multiple mmo's and usually have more than one account per game. I have never had the amount of time as some of these lvl 1-70 in 7days or less, but having multiple accounts does allow me to get more done in a shorter time. I can see though how there would be people out there as there will always be who simply will not want to pay more and more money for a game, but when you think of it. It's not really more, it's simply inflation lowering the value of our money. $20 a month seems like a big jump ahead of the pack though. I doubt they will go that high, if they raise the bar at all. Most likely they're going to stick to the avg at the time of release, most likely to be $15. At most I would say they'll go $16.99 or there abouts.

Prices in general goes up, but not all prices. The thing with MMO's, or games with monthly fees, they gets more popular. I.e. more paying players. This will actual result in cheaper fees. More expensive production of the games will make them more expensive. But overall I think we will see the prices be around 10-15 USD per month for a good while.

A price jump from 15 to 20 USD is too fast anyway.

And to the one that said average age are between low to mid teens, I think thats wrong. Isn't the target age for AoC 25 or something? And minimum 18. Not sure how they going to enforce the 18 years limit.

For someone like my self who is on the other end of the spectrum it is beyond disgusting. I have eaten less than 4 snickers this decade and those were the bite size ones. Aside from his eating habits, prices will always raise to what ever the consumer is willing to pay. If they knew that at least 100k subscribers would sign up for $50 a month, and their servers could only handle a user base of 100k then they would charge $55 just for good measure. Obviously they wont charge that much, but the point is they wont charge less unless they're going to put ads in game. Hell they might even charge more than $15 and still place ads in game. Nike Axe's, Mountain Dew potions, Sean Jean Armor. Haha who knows.

Thank god I am atheist.

Thing is, prices do NOT have to go up everyday. Its just that the private company called "the federal reserve" which is no more federal than Federal express, prints money with immediate interest attached to it. Thats what your taxes go to pay for. Which by the way (there is no law saying you have to pay taxes, so stop paying for your countries debts). Also how good do you feel knowing out of every dollar, 50 cents of that goes to killing those in the world who don't agree with the "doctrine of the new american century". And killing great peoples just because they wont comply with corporate, banking, and oil interests. Watch "Zeitgeist" and come out of that bubble.

$19.95 seems a bit steep for a month. As personally i usually only get to play 1-2 hours a night, and rarely on weekends unless i want to try and do it drunk. For people who play 12 hours a day or whatever and are starting to develop a hump from bending over the keyboard, this may be a great deal. I intend to play AoC to check it out, and i can deal with $20.00, but i know there are many in my situation who have lives and jobs and wont be able to power game.  It wont change, so ill have to deal with it..

Currently playing: Planetside, Americas Army.

Praying to Zeus for: Darkfall.

C'mon,  I like how all of a sudden this "Zeitgeist" movie comes out and it becomes the holy grail for jump on the band wagon conspiracy theorists.  So your blaming the price of the games monthly fee on the federal reserver and the NWO?  Are you serious?  I think your mind has lost many of it's brain cells from the radiation of your monitor while you were watching that movie.  Zeitgeist, does have good theories in it but don't compare that to how a games monthly fee is decided.  So I guess next your going to say President Bush, is causing the price hikes of gaming?

I for one do not see this as being enough to pay an extra 5 dollars a month.

If Funcom start to charge over $20-25 a month to play the game, i feel alot of people will be turned of, the majority of mmos players are in theri early to mid teens and rely heavily on thier parents to pay the subs, once $25 a month is taken out of their account, i think alot of peopel will stop playing the game and recvert to cheaper p2p games.  You may not think $20-25  sounds much now, but it will soon add up.  Even older players once they start to be hit with $20 a month will start to think wtf why are they charging so much.

Is that a bus journey within a town or from one town to another?

I pay less than £1 but more than $2 for a bus journey within my town in my countrys currency

And $19.95 in a monthly fee is not much considering that early online games had a phone charge fee by the minute which is much more expensive in the long run, some people got a phone bill for hundreds of dollars per month, thats expensive

What some of you seem to forget is the toughly 15$ a month people are paying now is all ALOT of people can afford. At least around here a saying is "Prices keep going up but paychecks never do". The "ask for more money" doesnt fly around here either. A good majority of factories (I'm using factories as an example because personally I would guess 80% of your subscribers are hard working blue collar employees) anyway factories have gone to a set pay rate per job to avoid lawsuits. Be it parents paying for there kids or adults playing the ones with the jobs are paying the money. At 20-25$ a month you can forget it I will stop playing MMO's and dish out the cash for a consol and play single player games and pay a much smaller fee for there online options.
