LOL not everybody is making more money. Just the rich people are getting richer thanks to Ole Georgey Bush. I my self was getting paid 9 bucks an hour to do a 12hr. job because companies are starting to screw there workers over to get more money in there pockets.
Lets face it America is about to go into a recession if it already isnt in one. The cost of living goes up. Bread,Milk,Beef,Gas prices rise but, we dont get a raise. I wouldnt mind paying 20 bucks a month to have unlimited entertainment for that month. Its like you going to a movie and payin for someone else, but you only get 2 hours of entertainment. I was payin 20 bucks a month on FFXI. I dont know how I was cuz I only had 3 mules to hold my stuff. But I figued hey what the hell its going towards the game I enjoy playing and played it for a year. |

20 dollars a month doesn't seem that bad, however I doubt I would want to pay more then that, All MMO's have grinds. If you don't like to Grind then MMO's are not for you. |

No clue if that has been said before but funcom is a europeen based company and $19.95 is exactly what I pay for wow: 13 € -- your currency is a bit weak nowadays |

They've already said they will be charging 14.95 per month, same as everyone else.
As for WoW, you know it's ultimately owned by Vivendi--a European company. Maybe you should complain to them about why you can't pay directly in Euros with a reasonable Euro rate instead of an inflated dollar rate. Apply lemon juice and candle flame here to reveal secret message. |

With the value of the dollar vs. many other currancies (Euro and Yen) falling like a rock, don't be suprised to find that soon 20.00$ a month on entertainment will seem utterly impossible for many gamers. the US is not shielded from being replaced as the economic leader of the world. I might even happen in the lifetime of AoC. Tip for Euro people and Japanese people. Buy $'s now. |

Funcom has to stay in the $14.95 a month range or they lose customers and they know it. They will make it up with value added web and cell phone services that are optional just like Vanguard did. They'll give you access the first few months free to get you enjoying the web-based features and then start charging for them. Everyone may not subscribe to the web base features, but if you get 50% of the gamers paying for it, you are successfully milking the system for more than $14.95 a month. There you have it, that is where they will make their extra money. That, and in-game advertising. EIDOS is a big time publisher of in-game advertising for MMORPGs now, so expect in all their games sooner or later.
Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware "Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product." |

If I am not the only one here listing out the fact that we are entering or are already in a recession this is not the time to race prices on anything. Perhaps maybe after we fix the economy in a few years, but right lets solve the fact that gas costs almost $4 a gallon. As a college student I can testify to almost cutting AoC out of my budge because I have to commute daily using my car. The reason, the Bus schedule and my work schedule don't mix. |

Between 10-20$ is fine for a monthly sub. Its just money. Theres nothing wrong with in-game ads either. F2P with ads and sub to remove them. |

It's just that simple.

Yes prices go up and in some cases its sad that we put up with it instead of having the balls to just not. I mean if (and this would never happen) everyone for a month didn't buy gas, the gas prices would go down, if people didn't go to the movies, movie prices would go down. We settle for higher prices so they keep going up. Gas will be at $5 a gallon by 2009. $20 a month for a video game is crazy, and if DAOC does do well, you know whats going to happen? Its going to be the new price for all P2P games, because all the game distributors are going to see people will pay for it. If the game is a flop at $20, and they bring the price down to $15 and then people start playing, all future games will stay at $15. This is a test to see if it can be done, I hope people don't just give in or what will happen next is after a while games will go up to $25 a month and just keep going up. We the people can set the price of games by not playing if the monthly fee is to much. Lets not become a society of sheeple, giving in because we think "eh, thats the way it is". |
