Yeah I would play AoC again if they did this. You want to throw away your money developing something stupid, go ahead. |

That statement is so utterly incorrect. Sounds like you need to expand your horizons, and stop playing crappy mmos. Plenty of mmos out now have 'real' crafting systems, many have deeper crafting than SWG did. |

Originally posted by evilastro I played Vanguard and where as the crafting is definitely a step up over the likes of EQ/WOW/SWTOR, it is not the same or even near the SWG system, a system which had its own dynamic resource spawns and so much customisation and stat variances |

Originally posted by Sylvarii I am not saying that the Vanguard system is not commendable, as it is, but click on the first link and it describes it as a crafting mini game, did you play SWG? SWG has resource spawns which had random stats, to get resources you would need to scan the planet, not a button click thing that did the whole planet mind, you had to drive around and manually scan areas following the highest concentration so you can maximise the output from your harvesters. The planets were quite a size too, I cannot fathom how much time I put into looking for the perfect resource spawns, couple that with resources shifted on a weekly basis. And then it was not simply, Steel or Copper, there were 4 or 5 sub-types for each resources, have a quick look at this link and on the find resources pull down tab take a look at how many varying resource types there were, plus of wources each server had its own unique spawns, so like the neutronium steel on my server over its lifetime had maybe 200-300 different spawns. I could go on and on, and this is all before the crafting starts...... |

Originally posted by Sylvarii All you proved is what's already been said. Not even in the same ballpark as SWG crafting. Hell, even mmos specifically made with crafting as the main focus such as A Tale in the Desert pale next to SWG crafting. Sadly, I doubt we'll ever see that amount of depth and versatility in crafting in any mmo again. Players nowadays can't handle it. Even TSW crafting has no depth, just an "assemble in the specified pattern" minigame to give it an appearance of difficulty for difficulties sake. -Letting Derek Smart work on your game is like letting Osama bin Laden work in the White House. Originally posted by antlordi I enjoy Vanguard , I think over all it is a better game than SWG but the crafting while very good is not as good as SWG, it is important to be objective in life |
